No Jobs Shortage For Obama Bundlers

The below video is a report by Jake Tapper regarding the doling out of plum jobs to those who brought in the most money to the Obama campaign. It aired in June of last year, but came up again in the wake of this post by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air. h/t The Right Scoop.

“About 80% of those who collected more than $500,000 for Obama took ‘key administration posts’ as defined by the White House.”

Tapper points out that candidate Obama promised “a new way of doing business” in Washington. In fact, then-Senator Obama, remarking on the influence of money in politics, said in 2008 that “the time for that kind of politics is over.” Yet President Obama handed out more of these primo posts to donors in just two years than President Bush handed out in four. Says Ed Morrissey, “Obama ran on changing the culture in Washington and specifically against this very practice, and so it’s hardly unfair to point out his hypocrisy.” Change, indeed.

It shouldn’t any surprise that that the supporters of nation’s first blue green president are flush with money — the fine print is it doesn’t matter at all if there’s jobs involved. Just as long as a portion of the bucks given from the taxpayer to these blue green operations send a decent portion back to the reelection campaign, all is good.

Now please quietly move along… nothing here to see…

Please define “blue-green”. Thanks in advance.

        “Blue-green”? That’s a new one.

I guess it comes from “blue,” as in “red state” and “blue state,” and “green” as in “environmentalist.” Maybe it’d be easier to just call him “aqua.”

But this to me is an example of why Obama is so vulnerable. In 2008 he campaigned on “change,” but the only “changes” he brought–and quite obviously the only “change” he ever intended to bring–were increases in the “business as usual” politics that he promised to “change.”

I think this is very important. The concept of “change”–abandon the old and usher in the new–is popular, especially among political leftists: people who like to see themselves as “progressive” and on the cutting edge, courageously battling the crusty old oppressors and leading humanity toward the proletariat utopia, and so forth.

I see a lot of advertisers using the “change” motif, too, and for no other reason than because it works. The attendant products and services aren’t really new or different, but if people can be made to believe that by using them they’re “part of the movement”–part of some “enlightened elite” who have access to some obscure, superior truth–they’ll open their wallets.

It’s exploitation at its old-fashioned best, and it works, and it works well. Obama campaigned as the “change” guy, thus endearing himself to the political left.

Any candidate who makes the point that not only was Obama’s “change” promise a falsehood, but also a very manipulative falsehood–because he knew it’d be one the left would embrace–will definitely chisel a large percentage of voters away from Obama’s voting block.

Some voters will vote for Obama no matter what he does. But not all leftists are dumb, blind, stupid followers. Some–those who lean more toward “independent”–will be taken aback by the way Obama not only lied to them but, in the lying, also exploited their perhaps most deeply held desires and definitions of themselves, and fooled them into embracing a triple dose of that which they pride themselves for loathing.

The bottom line is that Obama is neither who nor what he says he is. He’s more or less a hard-core, old-school, dirtbag politician who uses hard-core, old-school, dirtbag political techniques. More and more, he looks like just another power-mad despot who believes in nothing so much as his own greatness. He’s everything he promised to “change.” He’s everything he campaigned against. He doesn’t believe in the core leftist orthodoxy, but he recognizes that it’s a very easy to exploit for his own gains . . . and I think any astute candidate can bring that out.

Again: some people will vote for Obama no matter what he does . . . but not enough to get him a second term. Any candidate who can show–and it shouldn’t be hard to do because the evidence is more or less overwhelming and out in the open–that Obama is everything he said he’d “change,” and everything he campaigned against, will take a big enough chunk of voters away from him to send him on to whatever it is he’s planned to do after his presidential stint.

That being said, I’ll add that even if Obama loses the next election, we will not have heard the last of him or, for that matter, of his wife. They’ll be powerful in leftist politics for decades to come.

“He doesn’t believe in the core leftist orthodoxy …”

          Yes. He. Does.

        • scmom

?He doesn?t believe in the core leftist orthodoxy”

          In what way?

Is there a “core leftist ideological” tennet that he hasn’t practiced, or tried to force the rest of us to follow?

You need to clerify this statement, please.

This is why I am so sceptical of Romney. He says the same thing in dabates and stump speeches, and all the establishment behind him, makes me almost wish the Pualbots would take over the convention!

WE have NEVER ever before had this level of all the WORST
    of what is Political :
    Cronyism, payoffs,
taxpayer rapes via irrational spending to support socialist Government controls while giving billions to companies who almost immediately go bankrupt as they raid taxpayers pockets. (Solyndra, etc.)

Anti American energy policies – killing Jobs by killing industry.
Labor union monopoly in the government agency which should be neutral.
Anti Christian bias in all arenas of Govt.
Giving away guns to cause incidents to allow Gun control.
Unabashed bias in the office of President
For ABORTION at any stage including during birth.
For RADICAL agendas in all government departments
    The list is limitless,
of SERIOUS OFFENSES TO EVERYTHING JUST
and FOR ALL that is MOST HATED in Politics…

Even acts of TREASON to all that is good in America.
WE are at the mercy of the biggest liar ever to be President.
    Impeachment is insufficient.
Court Martial is more in order, with
the maximum penalty PUBLICLY enforced for causes determined.

He is Not Natural born US citizen.
    HE is Islamic.
    HE is Socialists or worse.
    Contemptuous of the Constitution.
His ?Law? degree was bought for $20 million NOT earned.

Yet MS Media will not allow truth to be seen.

Our nation will never be the same unless it wakes up
    NOW, THIS YEAR.

$8 gas is just the beginning of the final acts of destruction this demagogue will put in place.

That was the hope and change he was really talking about during the 2008 campaign.

The list of things he SAID he would do, versus what he has actually DONE, is a lot longer than just this broken promise. Remember a “transparent” administration, not signing any legislation until it had been posted online for five days for the public to read, not hiring any lobbyists, being a uniter and not a divider, fixing the economy, etc., etc., etc.?

  • Juggernaut

    gullible sheep are out there.

  • Seedyrom

and the talking heads pretend he’s not a lobbyist because he never actually lobbied a politician. That’s like claiming birth control pills aren’t affordable.
