The Left Puts a Bullseye on the Right

If this weekend has taught us anything politically, it’s that the left is not interested in facts. Once a template has been established, no amount of evidence is going to usurp their idea of how and why certain events have transpired.

After the Discovery Channel hostage situation, Media Matters grabbed the mantle of leadership and advised against jumping to conclusions:

Today they have some more thoughts.  This time on the over-the-top violent rhetoric that is apparently emanating from the Tea Party side of the political spectrum.

Either they weren’t logged in on Saturday or they are a consortium of political hacks that are more than happy to ignore certain behaviors if it advances their political agenda.  I’ll let you be the judge. (but the latter is the answer)

After the horrendous acts of an insane lone gunman on Saturday, Twitter was abuzz with people on the left and right offering condolences to the families of the victims.  As is often the phrase when there is a political person involved in something like this, many were saying it was time to “put the politics aside.”

Apparently the left did not get this memo.

Warning: After the jump includes language some might find objectionable.

It started with Markos Moulitsas, humanitarian and founder of DailyKos.  He began by attempting to sell his book:

He then decided to target (excuse the language) more specifically who was to blame for the atrocities.

Because after all, Sarah Palin had, during the election cycle, posted this map using a target to indicate that Gifford’s Az district was to be…um….chosen as an area ripe for Republican victory on November 2nd.

Laying blame on this map and more specifically at the feet of Sarah Palin was viewed by many as inappropriately political given the proximity to the events that had taken place and the uncertainty as to the condition of the victims.  Certainly discussions of the motives would need to be had, but right now, the concern should be for the family right?

Trying to make the point that politics should be put aside resulted in typical leftist eloquence.

Because silence was not an option.

Since after all…

And they felt that something must be done about this over-the-top rhetoric!

And not just Sarah Palin, but really…

Because once again, just look at this map!!

I mean clearly, it’s not over-the-top to say…

Because unlike the left, the right is incredibly hateful!

These kinds of threats are unacceptable!

And I think we can all agree it’s certainly not the time for making ill-conceived jokes.

Well, regardless, the left was united that the hate speech and use of violent, insulting & hate filled terminology must stop.

Well…maps! There’s no maps like the evil Palin used on the left…

Well….at least they never specifically targeted the district that Giffords was in using inflammatory or “violent” language…

*Highlights were added – Ben

Ok, but first of all, that’s not Markos.  Markos would never ever use that type of language, especially not about Giffords…

Shocked that Kos would target those he disagreed with!

It’s been clear for some time now that many disturbed members of the Left — all too many of whom are accepted into the mainstream, be it as members of the media or as commentators — are fully in favor of having conservatives rounded up in the name of freedom, and killed in the name of peace and nonviolence, not because of any pattern of hate or violence on the right, but because they’re sure that deep down, we’re capable of these things, so they need to act preemptively.

It’s a mental disorder, and we’re seeing it on full display here.

    • eschultz

I thought it was a bit extreme, but, now I would have to agree. The vitriol and animosity they release does give me cause to be concerned for my family and myself. I thank God for the Second Ammendment in our Bill of Rights.

Is it me or has the media gotten much more blatantly bias the last 2-3 years. I actually thought the media coverage for both Bush elections were fair. Yes, there was Dan Rather and the New York Times, but otherwise I can’t recall any truely unfair coverage in either election. I am sure there was some, but I can’t remember it, so how bad could it have been. But something began happening after Hurricane Katrina. That in combination with the Iraq war going south changed the coverage in media. Bush-Cheney could do no right. However, it was still gradual and mostly about the administration.

Then came the scandals in the Republican side of congress in 2006 and the media coverage and results that followed and it was like the media had an epiphany sometime between the 2006 elections and 2008. Stop worrying about truth and start propagandizing. I remember Bob Schieffer in a television interview basically admit they were going to do “liberal” coverage and saying if you didn’t like it you could find conservative coverage elswhere. I was shocked at the admission.

First they protected and propped up Obama. Then came the moment on the morning of September 1st 2008, when the entire media came out of the closet and stopped caring whether people even noticed if they were bias or not. That was when, even though a major hurricane was hitting the American coast line, they ALL had to instead talk about what a bad mother Sarah Palin was. And ever since, they haven’t cared about anything accept pushing their agenda. When I say they, I mean everything from Good Morning America to Entertainment Tonight. From the nightly comedy talk shows to network news coverage. From news magazines to news papers. ALL.

The mainstream media has become an overt propaganda machine. How any conservative would ever even go to journalism school is beyond me. Its hopeless. Journalism used to be the fourth branch of government. A watch dog of the powerful. Now it is simply a guard dog of the liberal-socialist agenda and a lap dog to Obama. Its voluntary Pravda. The coverage of this tradegy is just another example of whats going on in the media. Journalism has died.

I don’t hate President Obama. Nor do I hate Nancy Pelosi or any other Democrat. They are simply politicians doing what they can to push their agenda. In some ways, thats their job. However, I despise most in the media. Even likable people like Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon. And they are the least of the night time propagandists.

All of this coming from someone who watched Hardball with Chris Mathews religiously for nearly 15 years and thought he was fair up until the last few years.

    • ohiohistorian

Remember William “Cold Cash” Jefferson? The Dems re-elected him after Katrina! How about Alcee Hastings, the impeached judge! He is a buddy in the Dem party still! How about the Dems that got cash from Abramoff?

      Read more: http://newsbusters.org/node/3465#ixzz1AgBiStEM

Then there is Nancy Pelosi herself, who benefits from all the non-union labor and has non unionized but is SUCH a union supporter!

Just proves that in 2006 and 2008 the media was in full cover-up mode. And the Republicans largely cut their “baddies” loose while the Dems continued to fund theirs. Otherwise, there would NOT have been the blow-out for Dems that happened.

Your problem is that you had your head up your mainstream media. All of this information was out there, you just didn’t choose to take part in it. Now you seem to be aghast that your media has clay feet. Welcome to the real world, finally.

      • keven

Guess I shouldn’t have admitted I watched Hardball.:) If your point is that the media has always been this bad, I guess we disagree.

        • edwyrd

you chose the red pill. now everything you see and hear will be acompanied by invisible muses, there on your shoulder. they whisper, “beware the diabolical agenda of the left” . there is no turning back now, and many agonizing moments ahead. congradulations, you may now contribute to the prosperity and longivity of our grand democratic experiment in self government—AMERICA!

    • rightwingmom52

Chris Mathews and even Bill Maher when he used to skewer all politicians, not just those on the right. But after the election in 2000 when all the networks called the election for Gore, I noticed I couldn’t get any “balanced” coverage. At the time, my parents couldn’t get cable and were captive to the network blather. I called my mother every day while in the carpool line and gave her updates, mostly from Fox News. I haven’t watched a network morning show, Oprah and the like, or 15 minutes of network news since.

The terminology used was medical terminology. “Prescribe” and “Diagnose”. The map is more like a CAT scan targeting cancer than anything else. The Democrat map on the other hand explicitly mentions BULLSEYES. Talk about hypocrisy.

Sarah Palin should beef up her security. Maybe that would send the right message to the press. They are, after all, egging on the deranged left.

that talk radio and the rest of right wing media didn’t exist for the entire history of the country. Political discourse was so much more civil in the past. I mean we might have had even more assinations (perhaps as many as 3 national figures, even presidents, within a few years, e.g.), riots, fistfights in the House of Representates, etc. Just glad none of that ever happened.

And you need to keep it going, don’t get distracted. The more you look the more be able to demonstrate.

And I disagree deeply with your statement about the Left not caring about the facts.

    They DO.

Once it was established as a “fact” in their minds that this incident happened because of Sarah Palin and not some demonstrably insane, confused member of the Yoof with a big lefist streak, those were all the facts that mattered.

What we’re seeing here is that they can’t manage the climbdown, they have to hold on to the delusion after pumping themselves up so much for it. There’s a good case to be made that when someone is confronted with the facts but refuses to accept them, they should be at the very least observe a Moment of Silence. But we’re not seeing that yet among the Left. Maybe they think they’re not responsible for anything they say or do. It’s a convenient way to live, and I know the thought process pretty well.

It could be that they don’t care about that whole idea. In my experience they don’t. It’s larger than them. It’s mind control. It’s….it’s…

What happened in Tuscon in the immediate aftermath became the vessel into which the Left poured all of their residual hatred and vitriol, from the Sheriff of Tuscon to almost all the major media organizations in this country.

They should all be ashamed of themselves. If they have the capacity for shame.

Media Matters, of course, does not have the capacity for shame. It’s a matter of damage control, of turning the public perception of their comments gradually away from one that’s demonstrably false into one that’s less cut-and-dried, more nebulous. There’s still the latent insinuation that the Tea Party is somehow behind the shooting, there’s still the ominous undertone, but now we’re seeing a shift in the rhetoric (because a big backtrack is impossible) toward a “still blame the Right, still castigate the Tea Party, but not quite so overtly, while covering our asses” narrative.

They’re backing away from what they’ve done like the bullies and cowards they were in the first place. And it is time America stopped listening to them.

      • redneck_hippie

but while the stupid party media are enjoying themselves with their manufactured indignation, the FCC is revving up for a coup de grace on internet and talk radio.

But yeah, we should strike the vein of ridicule as much as necessary to make all aware we see what they are up to and, most of all, why.

      • kowalski

For leftists, it was a DREAM. And it was a good dream. Not just on the face you see on the front page of the Washington Post, it was a good dream and even a wet dream for a lot of liberal professors. It was The Moment. This was the moment in which they were finally going to be able to rid themselves of Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, the 2nd Amendment, possibly the 1st Amendment, and anything else they could think of.

“Deftly pin it on the right.”

It doesn’t matter whether it’s true. Of course it isn’t true, because the shooter is a deranged LEFTIST. And the Sheriff is an incompetent DEMOCRAT. But that doesn’t matter. The facts are the facts we decide are important to state as facts.

The big problem for the Left in this so far is there arent enough facts there, even enough facts to support their whacko interpretation. They screwed up. They relied on a hero to save them who is just another sad (and I mean that truthfully) confused, mentally impaired, probably schizophrenic self-medicating undiagnosed leftist extremist.

I’m waiting for Jane Hamsher to weigh in on how this is possible in her Lobaychevskyan Geometry Universe. You got yourself right there a pot-smokin’ Natural Born Killer. And he’s a big Lefty.

is that during the past two years a growing number of people in our country have become consciously aware of how the left lies and puts their own “spin” on situations to try to make themselves look good and to make anyone else who disagrees with them look like idiots.

People aren’t buying into it in the way that they did in the past.

          • spainishirish

I think this is what frightens the Left the most. The old wells have gone dry.

Speaks volumes about the quality of person that they are. Who in hell would put such a sick avatar, one that represents the criminal violence against our children, as their own avatar and proudly display it for all to see?

  • leftwing

the path toward civility has to start with civility.

I will go first. I am a lefty. I have lots of family and friends that are rightwing. I love them, and they are good people. we disagree about politics

if a house were burning, all my leftwing friends and rightwing friends would together run to put it out. And party together later.

The internet makes us forget the people we know. It makes it easier for “the other” to become something abstract. Not good.

Intemperate language creates a climate where violence is more likely because it gives permission to nutjobs. We don’t need the slurs and reflexive hatred. And it is a bad idea.

Just use your common sense. When you talk about “The Left” think of an uncle you disagree with, but who is your mother’s brother.

    Peace

I just have nothing to say to them.

I’ve sent my son to war twice without a word of kindness from any of them. I’ve held my tongue as they denigrate his service.

I’ve listened to their insensitive comments — in front of my adoptive daughter — about a woman’s “right” to murder her child.

And I’ve watched them take handouts while I work my derriere off.

      No, I don’t forget them.

      Peace.

First, although I disagree with your characterizations, I have no problem with strong opinions. We disagree. You feel strongly. That is to be expected in a democracy.

Second, I do disagree with your implicit argument that much political argument on the internet is tightly tied to the mundane.

Instead, I think that most political chatter is directed at abstractions and straw men. I think that there is a level of self-righteousness and rage generated because it is rage at an abstraction. I do not think that the same level of pure hostility is easily maintained against a co-worker or a relative. In fact, most people I know do not see the people next to them as purely good or purely evil.

But even if I am mistaken in my general view, perhaps you would agree at least that when we make attacks on abstractions, straw men, or real down-the-street nasty people, we should not use violent imagery.

In my view, civility does not mean a lack of passion or a lack of anger. It does mean a certain line that a person chooses not to cross when arguing, for reasons of integrity and respect for the rights of others.

Just another example of lefty rationalization. You think that if you say something nice, we can all stand around and sing happy songs. Wrong. Condemn those people or get lost.

who you are with lines like “intemperate language creates a climate where violence is more likely because it gives permission to nutjobs. We don?t need the slurs and reflexive hatred. And it is a bad idea.”

Markos has been traveling in the Twilight

  • southernpatriots

Facts, d ____ the facts, man! We have a story to write! We have an opinion to get out there! We have our agenda which must be advanced! Facts…just ignore them!

Leftists ignore facts. If all able bodied sane minded Americans received gun training and owned a gun and hidden carry permits were available everywhere this tragedy could have ended before all this massacre as one did some years ago in Dallas, with a citizen intervening and sacrificing his life to save many others. Leftist college teachers and professors did not do much about this man when they saw his irrationalness. One even said that he was not surprised that he did such a horrid thing.

When you suffer under unrighteous leadership as we are now doing as a nation, these horrible things can and will happen with greater frequency. There are other similar situations happening in other parts of the country. It is a horrible shame. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the families of those who died and to those who were injured, to friends and colleagues who were affected, we are sorry for all. The Word of God declares, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to the people.”

No more shock over their vitriol.

Their time is up, They have never produced a successful political system. Europe is beginning to see the fallacies of decades of social program blindness, and the right has a strong resurgence in the US. The fight will only get more vicious, because the left has imbedded itself into the educational monopoly, public union power, and the so-called MSM, altho’ that media is seeing itself failing, as the NYTimes supports itself on 14% loans from Mexico. That cannot last forever.

  • nhbuckeye

the left vehemently accuses the right of exactly what it itself is doing. Want to know what the left is up to? Listen to their screeches. They project themselves upon their enemies consistently and constantly. If they are screaming about “hate”, it is because they are hateful. If they are screaming about the party of no, it’s because they refuse to compromise. If they scream they won’t shut up this time (really, have they ever shut up?), it’s because they are working so hard to shut down conservative speech. I find this phenomenon quite remarkable since the left screams that they are so smart and we are so stupid. I guess the opposite is the actual truth.

  • http://www.plumbbobblog.com Plumb_Bob

The left-wing hate machine has a very specific goal: to criminalize conservative speech. Their intent is to remove free speech rights in the name of public safety. In order to do this, they have to convince themselves first, and later convince enough non-aligned voters, to take it as necessary when they actually remove the rights through unconstitutional court action, executive orders, or legislation. The fact that it’s bunk is of no consequence; EVERYTHING they say is bunk, but they manage to get a lot of it ensconced in law.

This is also the goal of “hate crimes” language.

A number of the more rabid leftists believe that civil war is inevitable, and are using this imaginary threat to buttress their own rationalization for committing violent acts in the future. When they do begin acting violently, it will be somebody else’s fault.

“Progressive” political activists systematically removed the rights of free people and engaged in public violence everywhere they gained power in the world throughout the 20th century. Anybody who thinks they will behave differently here because “this is America” needs to think again. There is some cultural variation, but the progressives’ goals here are the same as their goals were in Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, Albania, Romania, China, Cambodia, and wherever else the hard left has gained power.

It seems that most assignations in the USA have been carried out by Left-wing extremist. Just in our life time Oswald was a socialist communist whatever and prior to that John Wilkes booth was a southern Democrat. So the left should keep their mouths shout about right-wingers. There are extremist on both sides of the Political parties. The bottom line is that these assassins are just political whack-o’s. Loughner want to do what is known as Suicide by Cop. The problem was that there were no cops and the rest of the crowd was un-armed. If someone else had been armed tht little girl might still be alive and we wouldn’t have to foot the bill for keeping a whack-o sheltered and fed.

These extremist from the left or the right really shouldn’t be associate with either the Democrat of Republican Parties. They are in a group of their own. Maybe what we need is a Whack-o partyand these extremist be classified with them. The problem is tht the liberals always want ot use any excuse they can to bring up gun control and to paint the right as the whack-o’s. That’s the way socialist work.

After the terrible events of this last weekend and the nation wide fall out. I would definitively describe the Media’s response as bias. In their mad attempt to blame their open enemy (Conservatives & Their Leaders) it just seems to me no one is looking at this troubled mans inspiration to perform this evil deed. Mental illness mixed with drugs and Heavy Metal Music with lyric’s that glorify killing death & more, seem to be a toxic mix. Not to say that Heavy Metal music in and of it’s self caused this event. I am just wondering if anyone knows the killers favorite song or anthem. Given his mental instability, could he have taken a song and pushed it to limits that were designed for entertainment value only (Or at least I hope entertainment purposes only). Does anyone know about his favorite song or anthem, just wondering as I have not heard of anything regarding this angle or lack thereof.
