Mulvaney to Obama Budget Director: Not Credible

This is what we’re looking for from the freshmen class:

Rep Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina’s fifth district points out what many are starting to realize: These numbers just aren’t realistic.

Mulvaney alleges results oriented accounting and said that the President’s budget is “not a credible document.”  Mulvaney says “two years ago he told us the deficit this year would only be $900 billion dollars in his budget.  Last year he told us the deficit this year would be $1.3 trillion dollars.  Yesterday he told us it was $1.6 [trillion].  Two years ago he told us that the projected that the budget deficit next year would be $557 [billion]. Last year he told us that number would be $829 [billion].  Now he is telling us the number is going to be $1.1 [trillion].”  Mulvaney concluded that “we can’t believe the numbers.”  In other words, fool me once — shame on you.  Fool me twice — and our national debt doubles in ten years.

Additionally, Mulvaney contends, “If GDP growth is lower than expected by one percentage point, and if borrowing rates are one percentage point higher, the President’s deficits would increase by $1.7 trillion.”

In short, as massive as the budget numbers are, it’s still hiding the reality of its size and scope. Luckily, Mulvaney wasn’t having any of it and the result is a verbal beat down of White House Budget Director Jack Lew and the Obama administration.

Just because somebody’s stealing from us, I mean, really Mulvaney!

    • Tbone

and ask him why he is working for an anti-American Marxist who does nothing but lie to the American public.

  • Adjoran

I feel for the guy, a little – to go down to testify before Congress knowing you have to lie your butt off to defend your boss’ phony numbers has to be incredibly stressful.

TFB. He knew he was working for the Forces of Evil when he took the job.

It’s their credo and a way of life, to lie. They lie, they know we know they lie and yet they will continue to lie looking right into our public eyes. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce: Communists! (regardless of the label they are affixing to themselves at the moment).

Lie is their way of life and their means of making a living. They are more used to it than all of us used to button our shirts in the morning combined.

Lew got what he bloody well deserved. Let him take several for the team. Nay, a whole carload!

As for Sessions — he has been out there on the phony Obama budget pretty much everywhere the past week. Good for him and Mulvaney. It needs to be said in language loud enough and salty enough to penetrate that thick skull in the Oval Office.

  • wrveres

A million times yes. The only thing that would have made that clip better, is if Mulvaney would have tossed the budget into a trash can!

  • southernpatriots

Now that we know the projected budget (please remember the Dems DID NOT submit a budget because they did not want to do so facing the elections last Nov.) is “not credible” what will the conservatives do about it? What will the opposition do about it? They are fighting over rules of the House in not allowing a vote to completely eliminate Obamacare, meanwhile they are tramping on the Constitution? Get your priorities straight House! Get it straight Reps! Cut, cut, cut! When you have done that, cut, cut, cut! Cut with a scalpel, cut with cleaver, cut with a sword, cut with a chainsaw, but cut, cut, cut! Our children and grandchildren will inherit what you do or do not do.

the taxpayers should hold a day of protests nationally. Congress needs to understand that we’re having none of it, and act accordingly.
Tax day TEA party protests are only eight weeks away. Maybe some congress critter offices should be…scheduled for demonstrations.
Specifically, getting next year’s budget cut back to ’08 levels needs to be the core message of the republican party this year. They should remind the president that his current spending levels were enacted in an “emergency” and were to be temporary. This budget needs an axe, not a scalpel!

Is there any doubt that the White House, Fed, CBO, and most congressional Dems either live in a complete Fantasy Land or are just deliberately trying to pull the wool over America’s eyes?

This clip is an excellent summary of the complete arrogance and deceit of the federal government in general. They really do just hope that we’re stupid enough to just bend over and take it, without questioning them at all.

    This administration is a joke.

Nice work Mulvaney & Co. Keep up the pressure.

  • veritaseequitas

BO’s budget is based on ASSUMED growth? And so we are going to AGAIN spend money we do not have, based on what we HOPE the future will bring? Is that the same as if I start out the year making $50,000 but HOPE I will get a raise before the end of the year to $80,000, and so start spending at the $80,000 level? Seriously, has that ever worked for anyone?

I would love to see the freshman class endorse the idea that when one of them gets on a roll during his alloted 5 minutes, as Mick Mulvaney clearly was here, the next one up would yield hsi time to that person. If we’ve got ‘em on the run..let’s keep it up

In Congress seem to be going squishy. They were all big talk during the election and now it’s let’s all get along. I phoned Pete Sessions office yesterday over the Rep King knockdown by Republicans in charge. I was told the Republicans want to be correct and appropriate! I thought we elected them to go up there and kick b–t, not spend time being correct! I am disgusted and frankly discouraged to find Nothing can be done to bring our country back. Every time someone gets elected, they go to Washington and become a part of the problem not the solution!!

We sent a message in 2010 and we need to send another in 2012 because apparently they didn’t get the 2010 message. I’ll repeat it for the remedial STOP SPENDING!!!

and congressmen need military escorts to get to their bunkers. This is the lesson of Egypt.

  • jaybo

I am not sure if I have ever seen this kind of blatant disregard for the truth from an administration head!

Can anyone think of another administration that was this dishonest with budget numbers?

  • melbedewy

    on March 4.
The time has come to walk and not just talk.

  • missyjanie

Mulvaney is excellent. SC has really put forth some greatness in their newly electeds. It will be interesting to see what happens to Lindsay Graham when he is up in 2012…
That said the White House budget director and his group henceforth shall be known as the Liars Club.
