Forget Oil…We Can Power Our Country with a Something Box…Like..Forever.

The Keystone pipeline has a lot going for it.  The case for it is construction is strong and most reasonable people are for it.

As Steve Maley noted:

Opponents of the Keystone XL project might think they’re saving the environment by blocking the line. Not so.

  • Without the line, Canadians will sell the oil to the Chinese, who will export the oil in tankers.
  • Without the line, American imports will necessarily increase. More tankers.
  • Unlike tanker spills, pipeline spills are of limited volume and limited environmental impact. Pipelines are the most efficient and cleanest way to move volumes of oil.

And as I further noted:

But just in case you need more convincing, here’s some more benefits courtesy of the Consumer Energy Alliance:

  • Will create over 20,000 high wage manufacturing and construction jobs
  • Will contribute over $20 billion to the U.S. economy
  • Will deliver over 700,000 barrels of American and Canadian crude to refineries in the Gulf Coast to help America with the over 19 million barrels of oil a day that we consume
These are solid reasons to be sure.  But protestors were ready for our “reasons” and our “facts” and were more than prepared to take us on, head to head.  Here they are making a solid case that, aside from the economic benefit, we could totally be powering houses with a … um… sand box… or something.

Whoa… that dude just blew my mind.

I don’t ever remember being that stupid!

I seem to recall that even the EPA, no bastion of evil oil execs, stated that the Ogalala aquifer wouldn’t be in any danger from a spill.

It’s a solid oxide fuel cell. Google and some other companies have these things installed. Looks like they’ve got plans for a small box for household use.

So somewhere deep in this pothead’s brain was an actual product people are working on. Hopefully they’re working on it with private funding, unlike Solyndra and others…..

boutique green power generation device. It figures that Google would have some of these contraptions, and it’s not about the ROI, but the PR they get. Google’s got enough tens and twenties lying around to power a Franklin stove for the next 100 years.

that it still must be fed SOMETHING. These protesting children probably think it creates energy out of nothing. It’s only advantage is that it is “flex-fueled.”

for I know people who are this stupid when it comes to this issue in this city.

small car sized to power a neighborhood, costing about 2-5 Obama jobs, Oh, but it is a nuke (non-exploding type though) and could be real if the energy wizards would spend some time developing it.
