Obama Skips Out On Bill at Lunch

Guess he's getting us back for that steak dinner?

Sometimes the metaphors create themselves.

Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.

As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.

The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.

The White House corrected the oversight and settled up the tab by the end of the business day.

It was an easy oversight on their part. They’re so used to putting their expenses off on others, they probably didn’t realize they’d done anything wrong.

This is especially delicious considering this quote from President Obama:

Obama compared Republicans to a person who orders a steak dinner and martini and then, “just as you’re sitting down, they leave, and accuse you of running up the tab.”

Oh, irony. You’re so playful sometimes.

    On the self-absorbed

I’m surprised he didn’t ask the soldiers to pay. You know, for the priviledge of having lunch with HIM. for his campaign chest.

  • JimmyGee

It was all just a misunderstanding. You see, he was expecting the two servicemen to pay.

  • Common_Cents

obama’s been telling us that for 3.5 yrs now.

  • streiff

that we invited Obama to a steak dinner, went to rest room, and came back to find he’d had seconds, decided to do some blow off a hooker’s butt at the table, chugged half a case of Cristal, and then blamed us when the police arrived.

Headwinds, Congress, George W. Bush, Fox News, ATM machines, and Tsunami’s. Oh wait let’s not forget Global Warming and those contraception denying Catholic Bishops (I mean make sure we throw the base a bone)….

Another fine business that is “doing fine” even when diners don’t pay the bill.

  • cab3jd

He’s still trying to prove he’s not muslim.

With Collards and Red Beans and Rice, you’d have to be some sort of alien to order any meat but pork (ribs or pulled – your choice).

Of course I always thought of Red Beans and Rice (with or without sausage included) as a complete meal on Monday.

Thanks for sharing this almost horrible “criminal” offense. Had the tab remained unsettled it would have had far reaching implications into the next century. Always captivated when I read serious news like this. God Bless you for your bringing this to our attention.

I agree with you, basically, about America’s wars, though for different reasons.

Too bad you choose not to be a member of RS.

      • northplatte38

I have no idea what you are talking about. Please clarify exactly what it is you are attempting to tell me, and why you disagree.

        Thank you.

in such a short time that explanations would be very valuable pearls before blind and deaf swine.

          Frankly I think you’re garfield’s sockpuppet.

Don’t feed the Leftie troll. He’s clearly shown his hand with his obscenity laden response in another thread.

    • siquijorisland

or are you apologizing for this action. Or are you eyes closed and you mind in liberal fantasy land with Alice. Or do you routinely have lunch and not pay and find this acceptable behavior.

  • northplatte38

Those eight words must have tasked your intellect to the max.

    • gekster

I don’t think your stay here will be long if you keep that up.
      Just some friendly advice.

(and if you are playing moby, you are doing it wrong)

      • tnfriendofcoal101368

will get rid of him before I get home from work (leaving now will take 15 minutes). We have seen moby, chickenhawking, Paulbotting, DKos trolling; perhaps he has an identity crisis. (and I wouldn’t anticipate a reprieve from EE for him either).

      • northplatte38

        Dear gekster,

If you don’t like my opinions and you have something to say to me, then say it and please quit playing games.

        Thank you.

        • gekster

I see you’re missreading on purpose.

I don?t think your stay here will be long if you keep that up.
          Just some friendly advice.

(and if you are playing moby, you are doing it wrong)

          And to add to that,
It was friendly advice and an observation.
And I see you are playing moby, and still doing it badly.

  • northplatte38

Are you a psychologist? If so, tell me why I have a so called “identity” crisis.

If you don’t like what I say then give me an intelligent rebuttal instead of veiled threats that you apparently think you can do because of the anonymity of this website.

I will be looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks.

    • gekster

Reply to this is your friend….
and use of it is a guage of intellegence around here.

i.e., mentioning military service as an attempt to shut down debate on a subject and discredit others, is seen as a faux pas on this site (and rightly so). Military service and veteran status, while commendable, are not get-out-of-jail cards for making political statements which will be controversial.

You chickenhawked rather explicitly in one of your first posts on RS.

Perhaps a bit of humility is in order?

      • siquijorisland

OK time to vote with you feet move to a better place.

    • tnfriendofcoal101368

and you hit me with a claim of not giving an intelligent rebuttal? Wouldn’t I need to have an intelligent argument to rebut? I suspect though I am talking to a ghost.

    • Bill S

      He’s gone.

  • travis690

I wish I had Charles Krauthammer’s wisdom on this subject, when he said, “The president not only gave us the restaurant tab for that night, but for the steak dinners for the next 1000 years.”

    • standingonthewall

Yes, h/t to Krauthammer and thank you, Travis, for pointing this out. Farther-than-the-eye-can-see debt is the ‘meat’ of the story.

There have been occasions in the past when Pres Obama dines and treats as a host he has paid. He met with someone maybe NYC mayor Bloomberg while a candidate and had eggs for breakfast. Obama paid , pointed out the news article.Their talk’s content was left secret however. But the photo was warm and glowed with soft gold and hews.

That Obama paid for a dinner is often in the first or second papragraphs of media stories. He is such a gracious and responsible host, is he not? Blah blah balah

I recall the last time Obama paid was in Gulf during the Spill and his meemting included then gov and First lLady of Mississippi. Right ! Obama bought the Haley Barbours a hotdog and lemonade. What stunning images down by the ocean front in a cool breeze.

Someone in PR, including Obama himself, missed the big headline opportunity on this staged event with ribs and cornbread—have Obama pay as he did when he met with Barbours and others, Obama plain forget the punch line this time.

This may be one more example of White House and Obama falling down.

Here’s the deal. Years ago i was working a prt time job on a farm. One day we had tomove some pigs to another pen. There was one very stubborn pig and i had to get it to go into the new pen. what I learned from this pig has carried me through the years as I have been a businessman. This is the quote that I came up with and it has served me well. “Never wrestle with a pig….All that happens is you get dirty and the pig likes it”. Now that is enough said about northplatte38. Don’t engage him again and he will fade away and you won’t get dirty.

    • ihateliberals

The mods gave him a bus ticket over to DKos where given the language skills he displayed is a better home for him anyway.
