Obama: You could afford insurance if you gave up your cable and phone

In 2009, President Obama famously told a woman that her 100 year old mother who might be refused a pacemaker under Obamacare might need to “simply take pain killers.” This is an attitude common to liberals. They know what’s best and when pushed, they’ll spell it out for you: make whatever accommodations you must but you will comply with what they’ve presented to you as your “choices.”

The Libre Initiative has the newest example up, with president Obama scolding poor people who fear they can’t afford the mandated health insurance premiums.

The President recently participated in a health care town hall with Spanish-language media. He responded to a question received via email, from a consumer who makes $36,000 per year and cannot find insurance for a family of three for less than $315 per month. The President responded that “if you looked at their cable bill, their telephone, their cell phone bill… it may turn out that, it’s just they haven’t prioritized health care.” He added that if a family member gets sick, the father “will wish he had paid that $300 a month.”

Who do these people think they are managing their own finances and making their own decisions? What nonsense is this?

Of course, from President Obama’s perspective I suppose the answer is simple: cancel your cable and phone so that Democrats can start complaining that too many poor people don’t have cable and phone so they can create a mandate to purchase cable and phone. Nailed it!

Before you cancel your cable internet so you can go to the doctor, here’s the video.
