Bill Maher Fillets the Young and Woke Over White Power Reaching a Record High

Bill Maher is a good Democrat.

And he’s a very good liberal.

But as a left-winger — increasingly compared to the evident bulk of that bunch — he stinks.

Hence, he routinely comes across as an exasperated conservative.

Such a thing recurred Friday in a new installment of HBO’s Real Time.

Bill hammered woke youth, labeling them a form of phobe.

Have you noticed the historically high rate of American White Power?

Bill hasn’t.

He referenced the great comedian Kevin Hart:

“There is a [repetitive] theme on the far Left that things have never been worse. Kevin Hart expressed a view many hold when he told The New York Times, ‘You’re witnessing white power and white privilege at an all-time high.’”

“This is one of the big problems with wokeness,” he said. “That what you say doesn’t have to make sense or jibe with the facts or ever be challenged, lest the challenge itself be conflated with racism.”

His assessment:

“[S]aying white power and privilege is at an all-time high is just ridiculous.”

Maher lined his argument with cases in point:

“Higher than a century ago? The year of the Tulsa race massacre? Higher than the years when the KKK rode unchecked and Jim Crow went unchallenged? Higher than the 1960s when The Supremes and Willie Mays still couldn’t stay in the same hotel as the white people they were working with?”

And if you thought those were substantial, how ’bout this one:

“Higher than slavery?”

He clarified:

“And I mean actual slavery, not ‘Prince doesn’t like his record contract’ slavery.”

Bill implored Blue State America: Find a cure for “this progressive allergy to acknowledging societal advances.”

His take definitely discounts much of what’s been claimed concerning our state of affairs.

Last July, actress Tiffany Haddish — who currently co-stars with Billy Crystal in what looks like a fun filmcharacterized things this way:

“I am not a fearful person…but, like, I have watched many of my friends — not many, but more than two — of my friends growing up be killed by police officers. And it makes you feel like, ‘Dang, as a black person, we’re being hunted.’ And I’ve always felt like that. We’re hunted, and we’re slaughtered.”

It makes her afraid to have kids:

“[R]eally, it’s like, I would hate to give birth to someone that looks like me…knowing that they’re gonna be hunted or killed.”

Just over a year ago, basketball star LeBron James tweeted, “We’re literally hunted every day/every time we step foot outside our homes!”

Even the leader of the free world — and head of the Democrats…and also the guy in the video Bill used to kick off the segment…must disagree with the host.

As you likely know, on June 1st, Joe delivered disturbing news:

“According to the intelligence community, terrorism from white supremacy is the most lethal threat to the homeland today. Not ISIS, not Al-Qaeda. White supremacists.”

Since the 60’s, that doesn’t sound like we’ve come terribly far.

Still, Bill asserted many on the Left “have a bad case of progressophobia.”

“That’s a term coined by Steven Pinker to describe a brain disorder that strikes liberals and makes them incapable of recognizing progress. It’s like situational blindness, although it means you can’t see that your dorm in 2021 is better than the south before the Civil War.”

And it’s doing damage:

“[It’s] self-defeating because progress — and hope that we can achieve it — is the product we’re selling.”

Maher nailed our newfangled segregation.

“And having a warped view of reality leads to policies that are warped. Black-only dorms and graduation ceremonies? A growing belief in whiteness as a malady and white people as irredeemable? Giving up on a colorblind society? Only if you believe we’ve made no progress does any of that make sense.”

People are certainly giving up — but not because they’re hopeless.

We’re being told that seeing color is, not the depressing mandate of a forlorn world, but a morally superior move.

As other examples of evolution, Bill pointed to Pride Month, legalized marijuana, interracial marriage, and racial diversity on television.

If the man wants to delve further, I’m sure there’s more progressophobia to be mined.

But if he goes too deep, he may mine himself right out of the Democrat Party.

The comedian wrapped things thusly:

“For most of the country, the most unhip thing you could ever be today is a racist. Here’s the thing, kids: There actually was a world before you got here.”

Watch the video for a particularly punctuating effect.

“We date human events A.D. and B.C.,” he noted. “But we need a third marker for Millennials and Gen Z — BY: Before You.”
