Last week on the show I criticized former Senator Santorum for his comments regarding Tea Party candidates. When he asked for equal time, and we were happy to oblige him. The Q&A might surprise you.

On today’s edition of Coffee and Markets, Brad Jackson and Ben Domenech are joined by former US Senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum. We’ll discuss how he matches up with the values of the Tea Party, his opinion on the runaway TSA, and whether or not he’s running for president.

We’re brought to you as always by BigGovernment and Stephen Clouse and Associates. If you’d like to email us, you can do so at coffee[at]newledger.com. We hope you enjoy the show.

but there are no circumstances under which I would ever vote for Rick Santorum for anything. Back in 2004, while thousands of people were fighting the good fight against Arlen Specter, Santorum not once but twice – once in the primary and once after the election with the Judiciary Chairmanship up for grabs – saved the bad guy. In either case, it is likely that Santorum’s help would’ve put Specter out of a job. Rather than stand on principle, he sold us out. Rick Santorum can’t be trusted.

I could MAYBE understand Santorum not weighing in on a bitter primary battle, but to actually endorse Specter was unforgivable. I have ZERO doubt that had Santorum endorsed Toomey, Arlen would have lost that election. Specter was the 60th vote for ObamaCare. Had Toomey taken Arlen’s seat, we wouldn’t have ObamaCare.

I’m also bitter towards it because Toomey WAS an electable candidate with experience, he wasn’t some joker challenger (not naming any names) that couldn’t actually win. Toomey showed he has what it takes to win Pennsylvania (far more than Santorum ever did)

Not only has Santorum show he is not much of a conservative when it really counts, he also has the taint of being incredibly unelectable. I really see no point in his candidacy.

I’m sure he’s a decent and honorable human being, but he’s not White House material.
