Rep. Tom Price (R-Georgia) took the time to chat with us today regarding his impressions of Don Berwick’s fractious testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee. A physician himself, Price pressed Berwick on questions regarding the rationing of care and other key matters.
This line of questioning led to a side-by-side moment that is really made for TV — Berwick today saying: “I abhor rationing. My entire life has been spent fighting rationing.”
Compare that to a quote from Berwick in 2009: “The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”
Today also marked the launch of DonBerwick.com, Heartland’s new standalone site which will function as a clearinghouse for material on Berwick and for monitoring his speeches and appearances before committees. I hope you’ll check it out, and follow @DonBerwick on Twitter for updates.

No one, and I mean NO ONE
Old_Dominion (Diary) Thursday, February 10th at 6:58PM EDT (link)gets this like Tom Price does. He’s an orthopaedic surgeon, so he understands the nuts and bolts better than the vast majority of politicos, but he’s a rare policy wonk who’s also a great communicator. I was at an event where he was the keynote speaker, and when I asked a Democrat friend in attendance for his reaction, he said “S**t, even I wanted to write him a check.”
Great Video! Anyone else feel like Dr. Price was the only real Doctor in that room? (nt)

May God bless you, Dr. Price!!
lineholder (Diary) Thursday, February 10th at 7:48PM EDT (link)Thank you for standing on the side of the American people! Not only will this affect the choices that we have, but it will define the quality of care that is provided.
Thank you, sir.
Losing Medicare Advantage
truemainer Friday, February 11th at 8:01AM EDT (link)My 91-year old mother in Massachusetts has lost her Medicare Advantage plan (That she wanted to keep) issued by Harvard Pilgrim. HARVARD Pilgrim! Thank you Dr. Berwick. BTW, my wife fell on a trip to Canada last year and was refused treatment until she paid the ESTIMATED cost of her care! It was a Saturday and the hospital on PEI was staffed by two GP’s moonlighting! Price County Hospital, Summerside, PEI
Is it just me

missyjanie Friday, February 11th at 5:49PM EDT (link)Berwick lauded the British Healthcare system which is driven by rationing.
He stated that rationing would indeed be a part of Obamacare as would redistribution of wealth.
Now as he is being vetted, he lies through his teeth and no one calls him on it! The tapes exist, play them back for him after each lie he tells. Take the gloves off guys, this is our country on the line.
