    in Ryan’s projections alone gave me enough pause to not trust the rest of the document (we cannot afford to be wrong here), coupled with complete vagueness on what exactly would change in the tax code and for whom (since what we need to look at is average total EFFECTIVE rates for each income bracket).

    As for the medicare solution, I don’t think it will “work” (if by working we want to make sure the elderly get care similar to what they get now), as it doesn’t target the costs of health care anymore than car insurance effects the costs of cars.
