Liberals Have a Squeal-Fest Over Univision Interviewing Trump

The usually left-leaning Spanish-language network Univision is feeling the liberal heat from "celebrities" and the corporate press for having the temerity to host former President Donald Trump for an interview.

Remember when leftists had a whiny meltdown over the fact that CNN hosted a town hall with Trump in May and actually let the 45th president speak? The backlash within the network was so bad that veteran correspondent Christiane Amanpour unleashed a blistering critique of her employers, which was quickly applauded by staffers on social media in what was basically an open rebellion.

While other CNN personalities such as Anderson Cooper, Oliver Darcy, and Jake Tapper also cried leftist tears over the event, Amanpour’s speech was probably the most high-profile critique and helped cause the downfall of then-network CEO Chris Licht.

Except they missed one thing. They're in the business of drawing viewers, and Trump was seemingly the only programming in recent times that has brought in decent numbers for the struggling network:

Trump Is Ratings Gold for CNN as Millions Tune in to Town Hall

Liberals don't want to actually debate the issues, they just want to shut down opposing voices. Here's actor John Leguizamo ranting about Trump on Univision:

The tweet concludes:

If you’re wondering why a network would cozy up to a man who called Mexicans rapists and criminals, separated immigrant families, opposes DACA & is now threatening mass raids and deportations — it’s because Jared Kushner’s buddy is one of the execs who run the joint.

"I am asking all my brothers and sisters who are actors, artists, politicians, activists to not go on Univision," Leguizamo said.

He also wrote an opinion piece Tuesday for the Los Angeles Times titled, "Cozying up to Trump, Univision is betraying its Spanish-speaking viewers." It's now a betrayal of an entire class of people to air voices that you don't agree with, according to Leguizamo. But isn't it a little discriminatory and belittling to say that all Spanish-speaking people have the same opinion?

Funnily, if you look at the profile of the person who posted the above video, his background says, "Defend Democracy." Doesn't democracy necessitate a free, balanced press and a robust exchange of ideas? Not to this guy.

But he was far from the only one demanding that a former president be canceled from the airwaves:

The Washington Post published a story headlined, "Latino backlash grows over Donald Trump’s friendly Univision interview," which reported that "major Latino advocacy groups delivered a letter of protest to the network’s executives and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus prepared to request a meeting with the network"...

The jokers at The View also had to get involved, because of course they did. They blubbered about it in one segment, with co-host Ana Navarro saying, "It is time for us Latinos to hold Univision accountable."

There was plenty of other "outrage" too, but you get the idea. The left just wants to censor and cancel all dissenting views.

It's one thing to say that you disagree with what a candidate said—that's fair game—but it's entirely another to say they should not even be allowed to speak. That's not the American way.
