We've written about hero dogs before, including Yoda the K9, who felt the force and took down a murderer, Wilson the Rescue Dog, who found four kids stranded in the Amazon jungle, and an Israel Defense Forces dog who chased down a terrorist in a Hamas tunnel and sunk his teeth into him.

IDF dogs have been indispensable in Israel's war against Hamas, and they've sniffed out explosives, weapons, and terrorists and, in doing so, saved countless lives. They are Belgian Malinois, and they've discovered over 50 booby-trapped devices, weapons, and ammunition stockpiles since the Israeli incursion into Gaza began. They even located the bodies of two murdered hostages:

The canines were vital in finding firearms hidden at the contested al-Shifa and Turkish hospitals in Gaza City, as well as being responsible for finding the bodies of two kidnapped hostages.

The Malinois dogs found cancer patient Yehudit Weiss, 64, and soldier Corporal Noa Marciano, 19, in al-Shifa last week.

Both had been murdered by Hamas thugs, despite claims from the Palestinian group that Mrs Weiss had died from a ‘panic attack’ and Corporal Marciano from injuries during an Israeli strike.

Unfortunately, four of the furry heroes, all from the IDF specialist Oketz (K-9) and stationed with the Marom Special Operations Brigade, were killed by the Islamic Resistance Movement. Each of them—Mido, Taiga, Jack, and Gendi—will be buried with full military honors at the unit's HQ cemetery.

Three-year-old Taiga's death broke this user's heart:

Israel National News - Arutz Sheva showcased an amazing video showing the animals hard at work saving soldiers. Several even wear doggiecams as they fearlessly plunge into dark, dangerous tunnels. Watch toward the end of this footage to see one good boy sniff out a car laden with explosives; by finding it, he allowed the IDF to take out the car from a safe distance:

There have been many situations that could have turned out very differently without the intelligent, sharp-smelling animals.

The dog named Denver – who is still alive – sniffed out two large car bombs close to the Turkish hospital in Gaza and one inside a car between two buildings on the complex.

Once Denver had alerted the unit, the footage shows how a Zik drone was called up and took out the car safely without harming any of the soldiers.

It's sad that four of them were killed by terrorists, but IDF is doing the right thing by giving the hero burials they deserve.
