Joe Rogan Apologizes After Probable Reason for Deleted Episodes Emerges

Joe Rogan has had a rough few weeks. After being accused of spreading COVID-19 “misinformation” on his top-rated podcast, a litany of artists began threatening to remove their music for Spotify, which owns the rights to the “Joe Rogan Experience.” In an attempt to quell the manufactured outrage, Spotify then put a “content advisory” on some episodes.

Rogan eventually responded by attempting to extend an olive branch, suggesting to his detractors that he would strive to have more counter perspectives on his show. Unfortunately for him, that was an extremely naive move. When you give the leftwing mob an inch, that only emboldens them to lash out more.

Sure enough, that’s what has happened. On Friday evening, RedState reported that dozens of episodes of Rogan’s show had been deleted without an explanation. Now, we know the likely reason. An out-of-context, clipped-together viral video is making the rounds of Rogan using the n-word, on older episodes of his podcast in the context of various discussions.

Rogan quickly issued an apology.

Joe Rogan has responded to a resurfaced clip of him using the N-word almost two dozen times while hosting his wildly popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Calling the clip “the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly,” Rogan, 54, insisted the video consisted of “out of context” snippets from “12 years of conversations” on his show.

“It looks f–king horrible. Even to me.”

He continued, “I know that to most people, there is no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, nevermind [sic] publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that now. I haven’t said it in years.”

He then admits to using the word in his past, but claims it would only be within the context of the conversation.

This is what the cancel culture mob does. Rogan’s past usage of the n-word, whether you agree with him saying the word or not, was not in an insulting or racist fashion. Rather, it was in the context of discussing racial topics on his show. Yet, despite Rogan’s prior clarification over his supposed COVID-19 “misinformation,” the mob didn’t stop until they could tarnish him as a racist.

At this point, that’s on Rogan. He has been around the block long enough to know that he wouldn’t be treated differently. Yes, he’s a Bernie Sanders supporter, but the moment you make nice with the right, as Rogan has in some of his interviews, you become an enemy of the left, and they will do anything to destroy you. His initial semi-apology was ill-advised. This latest apology is even more so. The mob is not going to stop until they have his scalp, and he’s given them the tools to get it.

Rogan seems like a nice enough guy, but he clearly doesn’t understand what’s going on here. None of his detractors are acting in good faith, and he’s making a mistake thinking he can appease them. They want to destroy him because they view him as a political threat, not because they have legitimate concerns. It’s that simple, and he doesn’t cease to be a political threat to them just because he put out an Instagram apology.

As I’ve said before, I’m not anti-apology. I actually think it’s imperative to man up and apologize when it is warranted. But apologizing to a bad faith mob that is taking things out of context does not fall into that category. That leads to nothing but more pain, and Rogan has now bent the knee just enough to make things worse. That’s a decision he will soon come to regret.
