January 6th Committee Members Express Their Abject Terror at Trump Possibly Winning

Members of the January 6th committee are out looking for sympathy, and in doing so, they managed to set their self-awareness on fire.

Various Democrats from the now-defunct panel have told CBS News that they fear for their lives if Donald Trump wins the election in November. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) went so far as to say he's discussed what could happen with his wife.

House Democrats who led an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s role in the January 6 Capitol riot say they are worried about their safety and being arrested if the former president wins reelection.

They fretted to CBS News in a recent piece about a March 18 Trump post on Truth Social that said former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) “should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!”

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who has consistently fundraised off all Democrat investigations and impeachments of Trump, told the network, “My wife and I have had conversations about what life would look like if the worst happened… . You can’t avoid the conversations about ‘What if?’ And I have to think about my own personal safety.”

I'm going to throw a little cold water on this and explain what Schiff and his cohorts are doing. None of them actually fear Trump throwing them in jail nor would there likely be a mechanism to do so. Sure, it'd be nice if they did face tangible consequences for their weaponization of the government and destruction of evidence in pursuit of their chosen narrative, but this is Washington we are talking about. No one with the fourth letter of the alphabet by their name is ever held accountable for anything.

READ: January 6th Committee Hid Testimony Corroborating Trump Request for National Guard Troops

As RedState has reported, the committee chose to delete some evidence before shutting down while in other cases, its leadership made the decision to hide testimony that went against their claims. One of the most infamous was Liz Cheney's assertion that no evidence existed of Trump trying to deploy the National Guard to the Capitol Grounds on January 6th. In reality, testimony did exist of an official saying it happened while three whistleblowers from the DCNG have also come forward recently.

It wasn't just January 6th committee members fretting, though. Former USCP police officer Michael Fanone, who parlayed dubious claims about his experience on January 6th into a paid CNN contributor role, also expressed his fear that Trump will target him.

Former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone, who testified in front of the Committee and was subsequently hired by CNN as a law enforcement analyst, told CBS News, “He’s going to weaponize the Department of Justice…and use it to go after people like myself… . He’s telling us exactly what he plans on doing.”

We certainly wouldn't want anyone weaponizing the DOJ to go after their political opponents while selectively prosecuting crimes to influence an election. I mean, that would be crazy, right?

Again, the lack of self-awareness is astonishing, and to be sure, I think these people are so high on their own supply that they truly believe they are the good guys. They believe that the ends justify the means and that they are righteous in using every lever of government to vanquish their enemies. Is it going to happen if Trump wins? No, it's not. Schiff isn't getting jailed any more than Hillary Clinton was jailed.

So what's the real play here? It's to cry about how tyrannical Trump will supposedly be in yet another attempt to falsely portray his campaign as a threat to democracy. They've only got one play, and they are going to run it over and over.
