Famed Academy Award Winning Leftist Tim Robbins Lashes out Against ‘Orwellian’ Pandemic Leadership

Oscar winner Tim Robbins speaks with Russell Brand about what he sees wrong with the COVID response in this country.

What was recently said regarding the pandemic rules in this country is not anything jarring for most of us, as much of it was common sense that has since been proven. But the fact that the words were coming from Hollywood figure and famed activist Tim Robbins is what is the surprising component. As a nation, we were rather starkly divided during the pandemic, and Robbins — as he attests — had been on the other side of things, before having something of a dawning come over him.

Robbins sat down with Russell Brand on his podcast, another celebrity who, over the past couple of years, has become red-pilled, as the kids say. Not to imply a conversion has set in, Robbins has plenty to say about the way we as a society were guided and directed over the course of the pandemic. To hear this from one of the most reactionary leftists in the entertainment industry is the real surprise. (shorter clip here)

Robbins begins by stating that, at the beginning, he was not opposed to the strident conditions imposed on us by the government. “At first – I bought into it.” He details how he would mask, his theater group had to close up, and he expressed anger towards those who refused to follow protocols and protested. It was during a trip to England that Robbins began to have his awakening. First, he saw numerous people in Britain defying the vaccine and/or mask orders, and did not see the expected fallout of sickness. Then he encountered a protest.

I was staying in SoHo at the time and I heard a lot of noise outside – and it was a protest, and anti-lockdown protest. And I went out…and I joined the protest – not because I was “joining’ the protest, but I was curious about what was going on. And I started talking to people. And I saw the way they were being described in the press, and it wasn’t true. These were not National Front Nazis, these were liberals and lefties – people who believed in personal freedoms.”

Tim says he opened himself up to be more mindful of what was going on, especially in this country. He noted how we had become extremely polarized and that the positions held and touted were far less medically based than they were political. And he gives voice to a very noticeable shift in the narrative regarding Trump.

It was a very different political environment in the States – very divisive. Very much based on politics. At first if you were a Democrat – when Trump was President – you weren’t going to take that vaccine because it was ‘Trump’s vaccine’. And that seemed to somehow change – it was kind of Orwellian. It was like ‘we are no longer at war with East Asia’, Now we were thinking about it a different way and if you didn’t take the vaccine you were a Republican.”

England provided Robbins with a different perspective as the community was not as divided (though Brand does point out the British press were following suit with what we saw in the US.) That perspective drove him to start analyzing the things we were being told and he saw they were not aligning with logic and common sense.

“We became aware of the idea that the vaccinated could spread and catch it like the unvaccinated … to continue the policy of lockdowns or mandates after that didn’t seem to be following the science. It was following a political agenda. That’s where I really started to have problems with it.”

Then he spotted the real tell anytime a false agenda is becoming exposed – the shifting of terms and meanings.

“That’s where I really started to have problems. There were a few instances that were really disturbing to me. One was when, I believe it was either the CDC or the FDA, changed the definition of a “vaccine” on their website. Another was when they denied natural immunity was something. The fact that there were these change of definitions … my alarm bells went off. I wondered, what is going on?

Again, many of these positions are those long held by many during the pandemic, but it is who is spouting these details that is significant. Not to imply that Robbins is today a newly-christened conservative — he is a staunch leftist who came to these same realizations, and that is the telling aspect.

For a Hollywood figure long steeped in the liberal activist environment to come forward and declare things that were considered heretical just a year or so ago is refreshing. That he is willing to point to the very leadership complexes of the government and the media — two normally adored institutions by those on the left — and declare them merchants of misinformation is nearly stunning to hear.

Look, one actor coming around and having his eyes opened is itself not completely significant. But for it to be a figure like Tim Robbins saying these things, who normally would be a rock-ribbed accusatory activist on such matters, reveals that the cracks in the facade of the leadership could be far deeper than realized.
