Texas Senator Ted Cruz is not on board with the siege occurring on Capitol Hill and has called for anyone engaging in violence to be brought to justice.

On Wednesday, the Trump rally at the Capitol regressed into a riot when the Capitol building was stormed by protesters. They quickly raided everything from Pelosi’s office to the Senate floor. Politicians and Hill staff alike have been evacuated, including Vice President Mike Pence who was reportedly evacuated through an underground passageway.

Cruz sent a tweet out on his Twitter account making his position clear on the matter. Break the law, be prosecuted to the fullest extent of it. He also praised Capitol Hill police for their work.

“Violence is always unacceptable,” tweeted Cruz. “Even when passions run high. Anyone engaged in violence—especially against law enforcement—should be fully prosecuted. God bless the Capitol Police and the honorable men & women of law enforcement who show great courage keeping all of us safe.”

He was later joined by Rand Paul who made it clear that this violence isn’t at all a form of American value and that it won’t do a thing to change the corruption level of our elections.

“Violence and mob rule is wrong and un-American, and it will not bring about election reform. Today’s mayhem sets back any intelligent debate for a generation. Just stop it,” tweeted Paul.

Many Republicans are denouncing the violence currently being perpetrated by what are, so far, being labeled as Trump supporters. Claims have arisen on Twitter that these are actually Antifa operatives disguised as Trump supporters with some posting pictures of Antifa propaganda instructing its members to do so.

Whatever the case, it would appear that the situation has gotten out of control. President Trump has summoned the National Guard to intervene and defend the Capitol. Reports say that one woman has already been shot in the neck.
