Welcome to The Vine, where every week I strive to bring you updates from around the pro-life community to help you keep up with the ever constant battle to save lives. If you aren’t plugged-in, it is my sincere hope that The Vine will allow you to get familiar with those on the front lines and find your place among them.
Pro-aborts are prone to violence. If you are an abortion abolitionist, you've probably come across an abortion supporter who is angry at your mere existence. So it came as no surprise when, last week, Pro-life activist Seth Drayer was attacked in Columbus, Ohio while downtown with a group of pro-life students. His attacker, Victoria Duran, is seen in a video kicking down signs while cursing and yelling at Drayer in her Burger King uniform.
In a statement to RedState, Burger King had the following response:
Burger King Corp. (BKC) is aware of the YouTube video. The individual featured does not speak for BKC, nor does she represent its position on any issues. BKC and the Franchisee who owns and operates the BURGER KING(R) restaurant where she works take no stand on this issue. We are working closely with the Franchisee who is investigating the matter further.
So what should the response be from the pro-life community to an abortion supporter who behaves as Duran did? LifeNews reports that while Duran is unapologetic for her behavior, Drayer has already forgiven her. Although Drayer sites his Christian beliefs as his reason for forgiveness, we should take it a step further. Many, I would venture to say the majority of, abortion supporters don't actually know what they are supporting. Yes there are exceptions, as Rebecca Downs notes at Live Action, some people know abortion is murder and they just don't care. But with all the lies spread by Planned Parenthood, it's easy to understand why supporters like Duran believe they are in the right. Our goal is not only to abolish abortion but to spread the truth, however uncomfortable it might be.
Pro-life activist Abby Johnson, having worked at Planned Parenthood, is intimately familiar with the truth about abortion. In her newest post, Johnson reveals the details about late-term abortion with which every pro-lifer (really every American) should be familiar. It's not easy to read how babies are murdered, poisoned in the womb, subjected to a slow, painful death that can take days; but if we are to educate others we must be able to provide the hard, honest truth. With lives at stake, no details can be omitted.
Beyond the horrific procedure itself, we must also not falter to report on the often illegal activities of Planned Parenthood. Women, children and pre-born babies are victims of the abortion giant and sadly not a week goes by without a new report of that fact. Live Action has long investigated the practice of not reporting sex abuse at Planned Parenthood and now they are being sued for their unlawful actions. In the latest case, Cary Smith only found out about the sexual abuse and subsequent abortion her daughter endured after the 13 year old told her mother. Two months had passed since her daughter was taken to Planned Parenthood by her rapist and, although four employees dealt with the young girl, no one reported anything to authorities.
To rid the country of the crimes involved in abortion, it is important to document the evidence for all to see. That is why AbortionDocs.org is the recipient of this week's Branch For Life. Lest anyone believe the lies perpetrated by Planned Parenthood, one only need to point them to AbortionDocs to see that the abortion industry is deadly and must be stopped. Full of photos, court records, videos, affidavits and more, AbortionDocs is an important tool in the fight to end abortion.
It can be hard not to get bogged down by the heavy truths found within the abortion crisis. However, the big picture shows that we are winning this war.
So don't be discouraged fellow pro-lifers! The majority of Americans do not support abortion and that fact is due to the vigilance of the pro-life movement. Abortion supporting candidates know they are in trouble, so much so that they try to avoid mentioning the issue. Keep up the good work of informing those around you, the truth will win out and we are already seeing the results.
Until next week, I pray blessings for you and for all committed to life in The Vine.
