Federal Job Corps Vans Used to Bus Voters in Wisconsin

Media Trackers has found federal Job Corps vans being used to bus voters to at least one polling location in the City of Milwaukee. A van with federal plates and driven by a Job Corps employee was seen pulling up to the small polling station at the Clara Barton Elementary School in urban Milwaukee shortly after 1:00 pm on Tuesday. A Job Corps administrator inside the polling place said the federal vans had brought approximately 125 Job Corps participants to the poll as of early afternoon.

The administrator declined to give his name. The Job Corps is a division of the United States Department of Labor, a cabinet level agency that reports directly to President Obama, who is up for re-election today and who has campaigned hard in Wisconsin in recent days.

Poll workers inside the location struggled to handle the extra traffic created by the Job Corps participants brought in from a nearby training facility. A number of them were first time voters who had to be registered using Wisconsin’s same-day registration procedure. At one point a poll worker had to be asked by an unidentified election observer to confirm that a would-be registrant actually lived in the precincts served by the polling location.

Voter registration and voting were done inside one of the classrooms of the school. A photo of President Obama hung prominently near the ballot counting machine. There were no other photos of U.S. Presidents or U.S. historical figures hung on the walls.

Participants in the Milwaukee division of Job Corps are trained in a number of technical areas at no expense to themselves or their families. The Milwaukee center’s website – and other Job Corps sites – focus on the so-called green economy. “Job Corps is preparing students for the green economy through green training in the advanced manufacturing, automotive, and construction industry areas.”

As a federal government program Job Corps’ vans and staff time are paid for by taxpayers.

That’s disgusting to say at least. But hopefully Wis. GOP got its act together and work on executing a well coordinated GOTV operation. I believe the recall election has helped Wis. GOP a lot in establishing a strong ground game and this will reflect well in the turnout today. As a native of Wisconsin, I’m confident enough to say that it will go red this year.

If that is to be the case, then we should send a thank-you card to the unions in Wisconsin.

This is job training. These people are learning how to sell their votes for Government checks by serving on the Democrat Vote Plantation. Hey, it beats picking cotton.

It’s probably okay, unless there is some evidence that the riders were selected by some partisan method.

Job Corp provides housing for most of its students, and provides transportation during holidays and at the beginning and the ends of terms of training, so it’s reasonable to assume that Job Corp respects the rights of its students to vote by providing transportation to the polls. I doubt that it’s a misappropriation of Federal resources.

Tbone, I doubt that there was any quid-pro-quo arrangement with regard to the votes of the students, or was the cotton-picking and plantation part of your comment intended as some kind of racist slur?

Now the portrait of a sitting president who is also on the ballot in the polling place, that’s out of line.

please stop rationalizing misuse of govt funds and resources. Was this done in any rural precincts where the distances “disenfranchise” voters …who are more likely to be conservative?
With the sycophantic, lap-dog media on the case it is a wonder any conservative ever gets elected. The biggest power of the media is the power to ignore and they did so in a monumental fashion over the last 4 years. Where are the daily drum beats of casualty rates in Afganistan so constant under Bush? Where were the explainations that the unemployment rates creeping down were actually caused by people giving up and not because they got jobs? Where was the journalistic curiosity on the clear lies before ,during and after Benghazi? Where was the outcry over the admins offer to “cover the legal fees” of Va defense contractors who didn’t comply with the WARN act, federal law and mail out potential layoff notices as a result of sequestration? If you need any further proof “Tingles” Matthews said he was glad the NE had that storm because it helped the president. ARE YOU SERIOUS?
You get the govt you deserve and I am old enough and prepared well enough to shield myself from the poopstorm coming as a result of this admins actions but I don’t want to hear anything from the morons and airheads who ignored a completely failed presidency and reelected this fraud because it made them feel good about themselves.

every election we read and hear of these shenanigans and outright fraud and NOTHING is ever done about it. Why do we even have an elections commission?
