“Let’s hope their bombs don’t work” is not a strategy

But maybe it's better than "Why can't we all get along?"

The Times Square Bomber apparently didn’t pay too close attention at suicide bomber school while in Pakistan, as his attempt to detonate his SUV appears to have been somewhat “amateurish.”  Likewise, the Christmas day pantybomber similarly seems to have missed out on some training.  But eventually, one of these terrorists is going to blow something up and a lot of Americans are going to die.  Why?  Because the Obama administration has no strategy for combating the terrorist threat.

While it’s not really a humorous topic, Ann Coulter nails the Obama administration on this today.  She points out that the only “strategy” that the administration seems to be employing is to “hope the bombs don’t work.”  Despite efforts by President Pantywaist to appear “tough on terror,” he has no real strategy.

In a bit of macho posturing this week, Obama declared that — contrary to the terrorists’ wishes — Americans “will not be terrorized, we will not cower in fear, we will not be intimidated.”

First of all, having the Transportation Security Administration wanding infants, taking applesauce away from 93-year-old dementia patients, and forcing all Americans to produce their shoes, computers and containers with up to 3 ounces of liquid in Ziploc bags for special screening pretty much blows that “not intimidated” look Obama wants America to adopt.

“Intimidated”? How about “absolutely terrified”?

Second, it would be a little easier for the rest of us not to live in fear if the president’s entire national security strategy didn’t depend on average citizens happening to notice a smoldering SUV in Times Square or smoke coming from a fellow airline passenger’s crotch.

But after the car bomber, the diaper bomber and the Fort Hood shooter, it has become increasingly clear that Obama’s only national defense strategy is: Let’s hope their bombs don’t work!

The buffoonery of these terrorists cannot be counted upon to continue.  Eventually they will blunder their way into a deadly “success.”  Thus far, the only thing resembling a “strategy” to combat this has been the Rodney King “why can’t we all get along?” approach of appeasing our enemies and cuddling up with the likes of Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea and the Palestinians.   Who’s in charge of combatting terrorism, Matthew Modine?

Yes, let’s hope the bombs don’t work.  But let’s also start going after the bad guys rather than appeasing them.  ”Peace through weakness” does not work, nor does an anti-terrorism strategy that consists of covering our ears and chanting “I can’t hear you.”

we have another 2 1/2 years to try and remain “lucky”. After that the next administration, if marshall law isn’t declared by then, will be left with no infrastructure to provide security and we’ll still be s.o.l

But for the fecklessness of these terrorists, the fecklessness of this administration could have resulted in the loss of hundreds if not THOUSANDS of American lives.

I will be very happy indeed when, once again, adults are in charge of the government.

Of dieing from a bee sting or shark bite than from a terrorist attack. I’m not saying be stupid with regard to reasonable security, but damn… I am more concerned about getting mugged or some home invasion than I am about some terrorist attack.
The government can’t protect us from everything…

  • len_kc

Unfortunately this government is doing its best to insure that it won’t protect you from ANYTHING!

protect us from attacks. If you’re concerned about getting mugged, then take a gun class and arm yourself. Same with the home invasion thing.

On the flip side of your comment, it’s the government’s own actions that concern me the most, not being mugged or a home invasion.

Unfortunately, their government hadn’t even considered the likelihood that a terrorist attack would murder 3000 of them within a few hours.

If you live outside of NYC, you can afford not to worry about an imminent terror strike. We have been a target for our enemies since the Revolution.

This administration is grossly stupid, or treasonous, period.

Those who showed up for work at Ft. Hood probably didn’t think they needed to worry about a terrorist attack either. But it happened there. Just as it happened in the sky on that plane the Underwear Bomber boarded. Just as it happened in Arkansas when the radical Muslim shot to death two of our Army soldiers when they showed up at the recruiting office to do their jobs in our names.

And this government doesn’t want us to know or care that these attacks are happening at an increased rate under their administration. I’m a lot more afraid of my own government than I am of the stray mugger or home invader. Then again, I live in Tennessee. We’re armed and dangerous.
