Marco Rubio takes Harry Reid to task for Reid’s latest racist slur

Harry Reid once again demonstrates that it is OK to be a racial bigot, so long as you are a leftwing racial bigot.

“I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, OK? Do I need to say more?” — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), August 10, 2010

Earlier this year we learned that, in 2008, Reid suggested that Obama’s success was due in part to his “light-skinned”appearance and ability to turn on/off his “Negro dialect.” Because Reid is a leftwing bigot, the biased main stream media wing of the Democrat party gave Reid a pass for his racist remarks about Obama. In case it is necessary to point out the double standard here, just think for a moment about what happened to former Majority Leader Trent Lott over more innocuous comments.

Fortunately there are alternatives to the JournoList-controlled media. Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” gave Florida’s Republican U.S. Senate nominee Marco Rubio –a Republican of Hispanic heritage, an opportunity to respond to Reid’s latest “outrageous” and “ridiculous” racial slur. Watch the Video:

It’s outrageous. It’s ridiculous.

You know, Americans of Hispanic descent, you know the strongest issue there is? That is economic empowerment–upward mobility. My parents worked every single day to work to give me and my siblings opportunities that they didn’t have.

There’s only one economic system in the world that that’s possible in time and again and that’s the American free enterprise system. And the reason why Americans of Hispanic descent should be Republicans is because the Democratic leadership is trying to dismantle the American free enterprise system–the only system in the world where parents like mine, who work hard and play by the rules, can give their children the opportunities they themselves did not have.

[. . .]

The point is [Reid's] wrong. The fundamental issues of this campaign are no different for Americans of Hispanic descent than they are for anybody else: and that’s economic empowerment and the desire to be able to live in a country where, if you work hard not only can you do better for yourself, you can leave your children better off than you were.

There is a reason that Rubio now leads in the polls. Too bad Senator Reid is too bigoted to see why a person of Hispanic heritage would choose to be a Republican.

Do people like Harry Reid (Loony Left Wing Liberals) sit down and actually think about saying this stuff, or does it just dribble out of their mouths for lack of something relevant and serious to say? I guess when you are desperately trying to save your bacon you say whatever comes into your head in the hopes that something hits the target.
What is really scary is that these are the people who are currently in charge of our country.

He has forgotten that the crap in the press releases is ‘made up’ stuff to either soothe the masses or appease his Marxist supporters.

America is successful because of it’s blended free enterprise and “socialist” system.

Where would America’s businesses be without a military to protect them from foreign threat, police/fire/emergency services they can call, interstate highways, an educated public, courts to enforce their contracts, etc.?

      • harling

must be, or are authorized by the Constitution to be, provided by the government rather than by the private sector.

The remainder are, I agree, examples of socialism–and should be returned to the private sector, where competition will ensure the highest quality at the lowest price, as opposed to what we are offered now.

I live in Florida an have not been exposed to a single Rubio “impression” thru TV or radio (an I look for it). Bumper stickers are all over. Yet, he is doing very well against a slippery, well known game show host Governor. Just wait until people who don’t know Rubio and aren’t paying attention yet are exposed to what you see here. The guy is compelling, charismatic, and most importantly – damn right. He makes the case from his heart, not cue cards. Some are concerned about how tight the race is now, I am not. The Rubio campaign is keeping their powder dry and bank account full. Then they are going to bury these commies with a mountain of what you see here.

Rubio will be a huge star, and has everything that the party needs. We can’t afford the let him lose, and this is the race we are most likely to lose now.

        excerpt

        [UPDATED LINKS TO RUBIO'S STATEMENTS]

Which is why I hope Marco Rubio uses the obvious ?out? he has to retract his premature, cowardly, knee-jerk, politically correct ?police state fears? statements since he admitted in the written statement that it was based only on ?news reports? and not the actual provisions of the Arizona law.

[Rubio did not use the "out" this morning on Fox News Sunday - see also note the addition of links in above paragraph to his written and oral statements referred to from last week]

really disappointed me and I really love this guy. We need him in the Senate! I’ll assume he’s learned his lesson and he will actually read bills before commenting on them in the future. Any good cnservative should know you don’t get your information from “news reports” or if you do you better damn well confirm it. I understand he was trying to walk this fine line with Hispanics. But there is really no need for that when you are right, you say you are right and then politely explain why you are right.

that most whites are NOT racist, then what hope have we? none

I also understand the Florida reluctance on oil drilling, but if the BP oil spill proves one thing it is that the worst spill ever in 100 years is PUNY compared to the benefits Florida gets from oil.

Don’t they know that OIL brings the tourists down there?

I figured this would be as good a place as any for my first post, so here goes:

I agree completely with your input on the Rubio campaign. I also live in Florida and despite living in Tallahassee (a predominantly liberal city); I still see Rubio stickers on cars all over town. Rubio has connected with voters in this state in a manner of which it’s hard to put into words. Essentially, I don’t see how he loses this election.

As I’m sure you know, generally in Florida the candidate that wins is the one that carries the populated I-4 corridor. Since northern Florida (barring pockets like Gainesville and Tallahassee) is generally more conservative and southern Florida (barring pockets like Naples or Boca Raton) is generally more liberal, whoever gets the corridor wins. Orlando has a significant Hispanic population, and I feel that they will be very proud of one of their own standing up for their rights against a horribly misguided man like Harry Reid.

Even with Benedict Crist running, Rubio should still pull this election out so long as Kendrick Meek is the Democratic nominee, If Greene gets the nod, enough Dems might flock to Charlie unfortunately. They are THAT afraid of a young, charismatic, minority conservative candidate. Since after all, if Rubio wins, that eliminates their means of resorting to the tired line that the GOP is only the party of old white men.

Generally speaking though, Rubio’s campaign is being very smart about this. They are saving money for the real race since a primary win is now assured. If Rubio is smart, he focuses most of his advertising on the I-4 corridor and spends any negative advertising on Crist. He can (and will) be the next senator of the state of Florida.

At least we will no longer have good old Harry after Nov. We may not get the majority back, but I feel sure he’ll be gone.

The left is always stirring the race kettle. Al. Jessie and the others make a fine living off of “race relations”

I’m so glad we are in a “post racial society” as BHO said when elected.lolololol

And will he also wonder aloud how anyone from European heritage can be a Republican?

How about someone from Vietnamese heritage? Or Afghan, Iraqi, or Kuwaiti heritage?

I posted an article on my blog yesterday, describing in brief how Marco is a natural successor to Reagan idealism.

I too have been anxious to see a massive television campaign here in Florida, which at this point has not manifest; perhaps their campaign is waiting until after the primaries, when his official Democrat challenger will be known – that way, his ads can lump the unofficial Democrat Crist together with either Meeks/Greene and show with perfect clarity the difference in charisma, energy and ideas. I am convinced that the more voters exposed to Marco the more will fall into his camp – he is just that magnetic.

Doesn’t he understand that as a Hispanic, he is supposed let white guys like Reid tell him what to think and how to vote?

    • aesthete

I thought that Hispanic culture and identity was all about great food, close-knit family, diverse musical styles, and enjoying life. Guess it’s just about voting for the Dem; my mistake.

  • chihank

    Imagine if a Republican said:

How could a devout Mormon be a part of the pro-abortion party – the Democrats?

    —————————————————————————————————————————

No doubt the media will be over the Republican who said such a statement.

    • momofthecastle

Along the lines of “How can a professing Catholic be a pro-abortion Democrat?”

  • quantus

The democratic leadership are not only trying to dismantle the American Free Enterprise system but also turning the country into the richest banana republic in the continent with them at the top, of course. We Hispanic republicans came to this great country running away from the political and economic mess that is Latin America…. and caused by politicos like them. They have screwed up the last two generations of black Americans with socialist entitlements that have kept them economically depressed and after 50 years still dependent on government handouts. Now they are setting us up for the same, if we let them. We don’t want a nanny state! We know what is like to live under one… and we don’t like it. That’s why we came to America!

  • dambama

in the Nevada Gubernatorial race. Brian Sandoval is a Hispanic Republican, who became a federal judge with Harry’s support (he wanted to keep Brian from running against him in his next Senate race).

Hispanic Republican Brian Sandoval is beating Rory Reid so bad that Rory has dropped his last name from his campaign. The problem: no one knows who “Rory” is.

This is really quite comical. In Nevada everyone hates Harry, we could start a reality comedy show.

    • eburke

Or is it that he’s not Hispanic.

Goll darn it, I get so confused sometimes.

  • danielbdp

As a fellow American Republican of Hispanic heritage I say “Well Done, Marco!”

Despite Dingy Harry’s obvious and multiple shortcomings (least of which is his sincere racism mixed with political incorrectness), and Sharron’s campaign getting it just right of late, never count out the wealth and power of his multiple corrupt friends nationwide to protect their own unpatriotic interests in upholding the “Obama whisperer”.

Give to Sharron’s campaign till it hurts! Our nation cannot afford Harry past November!

Let us be sure that those who come after will say of us in our time, that in our time we did everything that could be done. We finished the race; we kept them free; we kept the faith.
