Obama admin gives illegal aliens backdoor amnesty

The so-called backdoor amnesty for illegal aliens is no longer merely another bad idea from the Obama administration. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Department of Homeland Security is trying to dismiss thousands of deportation cases against “suspected illegal immigrants.”

The Chronicle reports the Obama amnesty effort began “about a month ago” in Houston, where the Department of Homeland Security now has five attorneys working full-time on this backdoor amnesty for illegal aliens. The amnesty program is expected to be rolled out nationwide soon.

Senator John Cornyn blasted the Obama amnesty:

This situation is just another side effect of President Obama’s failure to deliver on his campaign promise to make immigration reform a priority in his first year. Until he does, state and local authorities are left with no choice but to pick up the slack for prosecuting and detaining criminal aliens.

Earlier this year, President Obama affirmed his support for the Schumer/Graham immigration legislation outline.

Obama ran for president promising secure borders, increased number of legal immigrants, to remove incentives for illegal immigration, and to allow undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.

President Obama promised to make immigration reform a top priority of the first year of his presidency. When Obama backed away from that promise, Politifact rated his promise stalled.

As I have said before, Amnesty for illegal, whether it is backdoor or contained in a comprehensive reform bill, sends a simple message – get into the United States anyway you can because eventually you will be legalized. That message will be heard loud and clear just as it was with the adoption of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (“IRCA”). That “immigration reform” legalized four million illegal aliens. IRCA was a monumental failure. Twenty-odd years later there millions of new illegal aliens to legalize.

So exactly when does nudge become push becomes shove and the tipping point tips over ?

  • msctex

Just as a spending bill is “stimulus,” and socializing Healthcare is reform as well.

Obama will say anything, twist any term past recognition, and flat-out lie through his teeth, to implement as much of the Progressive agenda as possible in the little time they have left in power.

At some point, we are going to have to stop being at all surprised.

    • baldbarian

And the time is nigh, to go from surprised to pissed to ready to do more than go into a drunk fit of anger at the dog…

I have voted, attended TeaParties, written our congress, made it to TownHall meetings and it seems that every time one of these mealy mouthed, pseudo-intellectual, ruling class elites sticks his nose in front of a microphone, all they want to do is call us stupid, redneck, racist, or bigoted .. and that we do not have the depth of understanding to “get it”.

I got it. I got it right here. And one day it is going to get all over your arse.

I concur with you COMPLETELY. And when the “fun” begins I’ll be right there backing you up. I’m sick of these brain dead liberals. Whenever you hit them with facts and a logical argument they resort to name calling i.e. redneck, racist, bigot. The decent Americans who care about their nation, their Constitution and their way of life are at their wits end. It’s past time to shut the liberals up by any means necessary. To hear a liberal tell it, it’s not fashionable to be a Patriot anymore. Now it’s cool to be a marxist, or a communist, or a fascist. WRONG !
“There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free- if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending-if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained-we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us ” ! Patrick Henry

And we know how liberals[?] respect the law. Didn’t they say so when Nixon & Reagan were President?
Hell, citizenship, borders, law, what do they matter when there’s votes to be had, and when you wish to thumb your nose at the American people, to once yet again display your contempt, which can never be satisfied it appears.

so sure he is not a foreigner? Don’t tell me it’s that so-called “birth certificate”? That document is as phony as the Dan Rather document about Bush! It is obvious it was created recently, and *not* in 1961, and I can *prove* it! I knew it as soon as I saw the line that reads “Father’s Race” with the answer “African”. “African” is not even considered a “race” now, and it certainly wasn’t in 1961! No, that document was created recently by someone who was too PC to use the word that *was always* used to describe the race of someone of African descent in 1961. So as far as I’m concerned, the question of where he was born is still open…

I can’t figure if these guys *want* to lose, or are simply genuinely convinced that they’ll *never* lose.

It’s like they’re incapable of thinking 3 moves ahead, and so are unable to manage the inevitable reaction to their actions.

Either way, every scheme like this moves the needle that much closer to +100 in the House…

Backdoor AMNESTY? Of Course – they can’t vote for the d-crat socialists if they’re deported! DUH!

To see how extensive voting by ILLEGALS is just loot at the results of the Republican primary in Arizona, where AMNESTY-JOHN mccain won.

the Schumer-GRAHAM Amnesty Outline, and now McLame will stroll back on the scene, “My Friends……..” . With “friends” like Graham,McCain,Snowe,Collins, & Lugar who needs enemies?

“Dream Act” sponsored by (note bipartisan reference) Dick Durbin- D AND Dick Lugar-R? The act gets illegals who came to the country at a young age on the path to legal permanent residence quickly. The theory being they were real young when a parent drug them across the border and it wasn’t their fault.

    or the:

“Ag-Jobs” bill which allows illegal farm workers and agricultural guest workers to obtain “temporary immigration status” but it carries with it the promis of permanent residency. This one is suppose to get the support of republican lawmakers who hail from states that have large numbers of illegals working in this industry.

Honestly, there is no difference between the above mentioned”deportation cases” or these two. They are all part of the same mess. Two months ago I diaried how these were two of several pieces of legislation being pushed piece by piece to make amnesty happen. The dems realized they couldn’t get their whole immigration reform package like they wanted this year, like Obama promised, so they were moving ahead in incremental fashion.

None of these measures alone would have been a big enough amnesty number for this administration. But once you add these ‘catch and release cases” to the “ag jobs” and “dream act” numbers you’re seeing bigger numbers.

The theory being…you wouldn’t choke down the broad immigration reform we wanted to push down your throat, so now we’ll feed it to you in bite size pieces.

I hope the people see and understand that as long as he has the power he will get whatever he wants. It does not matter what the people want. If we are not careful he will take over the government and trash the Constitution before his next election. don’t laugh, Chavez did it in Venezuela and he set the model of Obama. At that point he could get outside help to do this. We have to take the house and the Senate in this next election. with that there is no way for him to continue with the destruction of this country.

  • finaljeopardy

Bet AZ is loving the federal government and the Democratic party right now.

  • dontremaine

Obama must think that amnesty is immigration reform. After all reform means to change. The direction of change is what is never clear until the smoke clears.

  • shutuphippies

does anyone else find this whole situation hilarious? the central argument of the administration/DOJ’s suit against arizona and 1071 is that the law is unnecessary and outside the bounds of state powers because the federal government has sole authority in enforcement of immigration laws. yet, the part of the federal government charged with doing just that has, in this case (and many cases), gone ahead and proved arizona’s point by refusing to enforce immigration law.

another great example of why we should all be worried when this administration says “we’ll take care of it”

  • dambama

They are putting a package together that includes a presidential pardon, free membership in SEIU, and automatic registration in the democrat party. All this plus a personal apology from Obama for America’s crimes against illegal border hoppers.

    • dambama

McCain said “I do not think an apology is necessary in this situation”

TO IGNORE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, WILL BE THEIR DOWNFALL.

Not just Arizona, Colorado–but every state on the border or the length and breathe of American is paying for the illegal immigration occupation of our nation.

At the Heritage Foundation Robert Rector is a, leading national authority on poverty, welfare and immigration. In May of 2007 Rector stipulated in a report, that the actual costs that illegal immigrants place, as a huge burden on taxpaying Americans. There were estimated to be 11 million illegal migrants (NOT IMMIGRANTS) in the U.S. in 2004, so the lie is extended to 2010 with the same figure in the Liberal press. In 2004 about 9.3 million of these individuals were adults, roughly half of whom lacked a high school degree. About 90 percent of illegal aliens are reported in the CPS. This report covers only those illegal nationals who are reported in the CPS and does not address the remaining 10 percent not counted by the U.S.Census.

Much of this information is buried or not even available–in most cases it is an intentional by government or special interests? With most websites, you cannot even supply an address in the comments section. But for the interests of taxpayers, type into GOOGLE–Heritage Foundation–Immigration–Costs. This report illustrates what you pay out, to furnish cheap labor to criminal employers. The Heritage Foundation, however, has revealed that illegal immigrants take in $32,138 in immediate benefits and services for every $9,686 in taxes they pay out. FAIR research specifies that “between 40 and 50 percent of wage-loss among low-skilled Americans is due to the legal migration of low-skilled workers. Some native workers lose not just wages but their jobs through illegal alien competition. An estimated 1,880,000 American workers are displaced from their employment every year by immigration; the expenditure for providing welfare and assistance to these Americans is over $15 billion a year.”

The National Research Council, part of the National Academy of Sciences, discovered in 1997 that the average illegal without a high school education imposes a net fiscal liability on public coffers of $89,000 during the course of his or her lifetime. The average immigrant with only a high school education creates a lifetime fiscal burden of $31,000. In addition, the National Academy of Sciences found that the net fiscal drain on American taxpayers is between $166 and $226 a year per native household. Currently, Illegal Immigration expenditures have reached $113 Billion annually, a forced Drain on Taxpayers by each government. It is also estimated that illegal workers send outside of America $60 billion through foreign banks. Learn more by GOOGLING–(CAIR) Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform.

Another massive problem that these studies often leave out is that history demonstrates that another amnesty will encourage more desperate people to come here illegally. It happened after the 1986 amnesty? In that instance, 3 million people were legalized on the premise that there would be robust immigration enforcement to stop more people from coming, according to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. The U.S. administration failed to provide this promised enforcement and millions more came here illegally; and still coming.

Rector stated” Current immigration practices, both legal and illegal, operate like a system of trans-national welfare outreach bringing millions of fiscally dependent individuals into the U.S. This policy needs to be changed. U.S. immigration policy should encourage high-skill immigration and strictly limit low-skill immigration. In general, government policy should limit immigration to those who will be net fiscal contributors, avoiding those who will increase poverty and impose new costs on overburdened U.S. taxpayers.”

Means-tested programs are typically termed welfare programs. Unlike direct benefits, means-tested programs are available only to households below specific income thresholds. Means-tested welfare programs provide cash, food, housing, medical care, and social services to poor and low-income persons. For example, children in illegal immigrant households are eligible for and do receive public education. We all know by now nobody asks for immigration status at the emergency room, whereas Americans must supply a driver?s license and SS #. So then debt collection companies can hunt YOU unmercifully for payment, while illegal aliens walk out never to be seen again.

The Us Border Patrol estimates that an average of 10,000 illegal aliens cross the border every day – over 3 million per year. A third will be caught and many of them immediately will turn around and try again. About half of those remaining will become permanent (ILLEGAL) U.S. residents.

Illegal aliens have cost billions of taxpayer-funded dollars for medical services. Dozens of hospitals in Texas, New Mexico Arizona, and California, have been forced to close or face insolvency since federally-mandated programs requiring free emergency room services to illegal aliens. Taxpayers pay half-a-billion dollars per year incarcerating illegal alien criminals.

In just the state of California in relating to birthright citizenship FAIR estimates “there are currently between 287,000 and 363,000 children born to illegal aliens each year. This figure is based on the crude birth rate of the total foreign-born population (33 births per 1000) and the size of the illegal alien population (between 8.7 and 11 million). In 1994, California paid for 74,987 deliveries to illegal alien mothers, at a total cost of $215.2 million (an average of $2,842 per delivery). Illegal alien mothers accounted for 36 percent of all Medi-Cal funded births in California that year.”

EVERY INCUMBENT, CAREER POLITICIAN WHO HAS A BAD IMMIGRATION RECORD, BEGINNING WITH SEN. HARRY REID AND HIS CZARS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THEIR SEAT IN WASHINGTON. THE ASYLUM IN WASHINGTON NEEDS A CHANGE OF GUARDS? JOIN NUMBERSUSA AND AID IN FIGHTING AGAINST AMNESTY OR BENEFITS FROM THIS INVASION. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Tell your Representative in Washington at 202-224-3121 and State level officials. Remember illegal aliens could have voted in the midterm elections? The Obama administration has shown its true colors, that illegal immigration is a great way to collect votes in the future by pacifying large minority groups.

    Test post

I cannot post comments to the “front page” stories, only to “member diaries” like this, to which I navigated to not straight from the front page “Diaries” tab, but rather by clicking on a story from the front page, then clicking on the “Community” tab, and then selecting from what seems to be the list of (pre-upgrade) member diaries.

I suggest that you either take the site back down until these basic navigational issues are fixed, or that you acknowledge that there are issues in HUGE text on the “Featured story”.

It’s said that the market hates uncertainty, and I’m very uncertain as to how to navigate about the site in this state.
