Obama’s military gap

Gallup reports that veterans and active military are less likely to approve of President Obama’s job performance.

Gallup found that 37% all active-duty military personnel and veterans approve of Obama’s job performance compared with 48% of nonveterans.

This is fitting rebuttal to TIME’s Joe Klein, who recently asserted on “The Chris Matthews Show” that Obama’s relationship with the military is better than was President Bush’s.

Gallup also reminds us that military service is highly prevalent among seniors, but is rare among the young:

For American men under age 60, the percentage who have served or currently serve in the military ranges from 8% in the youngest age group to 21% of those aged 50 to 59. The percentage of military veterans is much greater among those 60 and older, reaching a peak of 75% among men aged 80 to 99.

Only 8% of 18 to 29-year-olds served in the military.

It may be a bit of a stretch, but I take Gallup’s finding hat veterans and active military are less likely to approve of President Obama’s job performance to be an indication that Veterans will favor Obama’s opponent in 2012 as they did in 2008.

And, this is why we need to be vigilant to make sure America’s military personnel are given every opportunity to cast a ballot which is received in a timely fashion and counted accurately.

Not being a professional pollster , just a Viet Vet and ARMY dad, I’d say Gallup inflated that number by 36%.
