Special Operations OPSEC targets Obama for reckless intelligence leaks

A group of former special operations and C.I.A. officers accuse President Obama of spiking the football — taking credit for killing Osama bin Laden, and recklessly leaking intelligence information about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden and other security matters solely to gain political advantage.

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not.” — Ben Smith, a Navy SEAL

The Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc, argues that high level Obama administration’s leaks are damaging U.S. security. They make their case in a very well done documentary-style video called “Dishonorable Disclosures: How Leaks and Politics Threaten National Security.”

The good folks at Special Operations OPSEC see their mission as stopping President Obama and others, from politically capitalizing on U.S. national security operations and secrets, which allows the special operations and intelligence capabilities to be degraded., and educating the public about the importance and necessity of Operational Security. The video does a good job of doing that.

The Former Special Operations and C.I.A. personnel are upset about the “avalanche” of leaks obviously intended to politically benefit Obama:

  • Immediate disclosure of the killing of Osama bin Laden rather than waiting to exploit the information taken by SEAL Team Six.
  • Disclosure and special access to Department of Defense and C.I.A details about the Osama bin Laden operation to Hollywood filmmakers.
  • Disclosure of the unit, the cover name, The aircraft that were used, the number of raiders, and how the team entered and moved around the grounds.
  • Disclosure of details pertaining to the intelligence gathering before the raid, including the identity of the Pakistani doctor who provided information.
  • Disclosure of U.S. and Israeli involvement in the computer viruses which targeted Iran’s nuclear program.
  • Disclosure of a joint U.S./British/Israeli covert operation that planted a spy in Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen, whose information stopped a terrorist bomb plot against a U.S.-bound airliner.
  • Disclosure of the secret Obama “Kill List.”

OPSEC is not alone in being outraged about the Obama Administration’s national security leaks. Former Democrat Senator Bob Kerrey, took Obama to task for his decision to disclose some details of the Osama bin Laden operation:

“By describing certain methods — the name of the unit involved, the kinds of equipment employed, the nature of intelligence collected and techniques of insertion and extraction used in the operation — the President violated a key rule of clandestine work.”

Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has also gone after Obama for controversial leaks of classified information, saying “I think the White House has to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks.” She was even tougher during an appearance on CNN’s “Situation Room” program:

“What we’re seeing…is an Anschluss, an avalanche of leaks. And it’s very, very disturbing. You know, it’s dismayed our allies. It puts American lives in jeopardy. It puts our nation’s security in jeopardy.”

But nobody summed up as well as former defense secretary, Robert Gates, who blasted the Obama White House’s leaks and told the Obama national security team to  Shut the f— up.”

…Ben Smith from OPSEC, what can I do to help the candidate today?”

  • rightlane1111

I’ve said before on this site that I was on two black sites for a defense contractor….and heaven help me if I ever said one word about any thing that I was working on. That was back in the days when our national security meant something and the people believed in America.

Now…every day on Drudge…Obama…trying to pick up votes from whomever…drops another security leak. For instance…we do not need to know…i.e., the general public, when and if Israel is going to take out Iran. We don’t need to see plans…..this is STUPID.

Test flights of special operations vehicles…we do not need to know about…nor what they are armed with…Sorry Libertarians I believe in a STRONG AMERICAN DEFENSE. This guy is using our military for political advantage and….really…he’s committing an act of treason by discussing policies for the world to see.

Unless those projects have been declassified, I would be hesitant to mention you worked on them. Even stating such can subject you to unwanted attention from the government and our enemies. You have possibly, however unintentionally, jeopardized national security by doing so. Just as you state about test flights and Israeli attack plans, we do not need to know about them or your supposed involvement in classified projects. I am not doubting you, I just think you shouldn’t put it out there.

used to be much tighter, and needs to be again, but I would NOT want under any of the past few regiemes see it return to where it once was. I don’t think our associate has given away any secrets stating that there are “two ‘black sites’ or simply that he worked there… he could have been a bulldozer operation working on grounds development after all. Consider the stories circulationg about The DHS buying 450 million rounds of JHP .40 S&W ammo, the Social Security Administration buying 174,000 rounds of ammo, the National WEATHER SERVICE(?!?!?!) buying 48,000 rounds of ammunition. Oh, and DHS is soliciting for another 750 million rounds, and starting to illegally redact quantities of specific caliber/bullet weights (redacting information on public documents can only be authorized by Congress, we’re not talking about a politician tax forms, we’re talking about a government RFP).

Back in the 60′s, just the INITIALS ‘NSA’ was classified, and the entire budget (second only to the Defense budget) was ‘black’ and buried in appropriations for various other Departments. You could not travel to Guam, unless you were from there and on a Guamanian passport, or in possession of a security clearance. Now it’s a tourist destination for Koreans, Japanese and other Far East asians. If things were as ‘close hold’ now as they were then, I don’t think we would even be aware that elements of our government seem to be gearing up for civil insurrection.

Obamao is to give aid and comfort to the enemy. Besides being devoid of morals and ethics, Obamao has proven he hates the United States. Obama, thy name is treason.

Give credit where credit is due Mr. President. Credit the small businessperson for building his business. Credit the military for taking Bin Laden out.

Let’s keep an eye on this.
I have sent the link of the video to everyone I know – and then some.

that this next, most important election, is going to be bad!

Call it a gut feeling, but reading the opponents, and understanding that Obama/Axelrod is willing to do ANYTHING to stay in power. These progressives have never been closer to their goal and they’re not going to go away quietly.

In order to keep this election out of the courts, we the people MUST come out in droves to vote for Romney/Ryan so there is no doubt as to who wins.

  • macwell

    Think about how many of our Congress critters could be described by his statement;
A vitiated state of morals = morals in question, (to say the least).
A corrupted conscience = The U.S. Congress, (need I say more?)
Mr. Henry is saying that people like these have no business running our government because their very core is not compatible with being an American.
Yet daily, we get a glimpse of their greed. There is NEVER enough money. They’re always telling us that we must pay more, yet they live like potentates in some soap opera, and present us with the bill.
Talk about a corrupted public conscience?
How about a 3000 page bill, that even the lawyers who drew it up don’t understand?
That, in itself, is insult enough, but, to pour salt in the wound, none other than the Speaker of the House of Representatives, (who is supposed to represent us peons), had the gaul to tell us that “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”.
People with minds and hearts like that do not deserve to be Americans, let alone lord it over us in Congress.
We the people must send a clear message in November.
We must remove all who believe that America needs to be “fundamentally transformed”.

There are operations that took place in the cold war some 30 years ago and even more that have never been revealed, even though today the information would not hurt anybody. That any president would use these top secret events and intelligence for political gain is beyond all reasoning. Some of us, American and allied , now retired have consulted with each other about these Obamanations and cannot remember one similar case with any president, Democrat or Republican, American or allied.

…when I finished watching this video yesterday!

In a week where Paul Ryan gets named as Vice Presidential material and the heroes on the battlefield call out the Leaker-in-Chief, how much better can it get?

    • edintexas

Romney – Ryan with better than 65% of the vote in most states.

      • dragan

I have seen some moronic DEMS out here in CA who believe that the DEMS can win Oklahama and Alabama. I guess you belong to the other side who would assume that Romney-Ryan team would win in CA, NY etc with 65% of the votes. Wow

  • runner12

national security and our troops just to get re-elected or boost his “image.”

This is not the first time we have seen Obama’s narcissism on display for all to see, yet every time he does it I marvel at its scope and depth.

That Krauthammer is one good psychiatrist. He had him pegged from the beginning.

  • CarolT

Obama’s been leaking info since Osama was killed, it’s about time someone called him out on it. I had Fox News on last night but wasn’t paying attention to it, I have it on in the background, Greta had one of these men on. I hope it gets full airtime, but we know that is only going to happen on websites like this.

Obama is guilty of treason, I honestly believe this.

  • daniel22

and the WH cooperation in making movie about the Osama raid only confirms in my mind that the WH is directly behind the leaks. That alone should alert every member of “his” military that they are expendable assets for his re-election. If I was in the military I would make every effort to make sure I voted and if I was the CO I would make every herculean effort to ensure the votes werecounted in an expeditious manner.
The nonchalance this administration has displayed in their regard for others and the lack thereof says volumes. It is almost like they already know the oputcomes and they could care less what anyone thinks or does.

  • celador2

Obama brags too much and takes credit for the long time work of others who are professionals out to do a job. Hollywood creates a movie to make Obama look involved and big. Its all made up.

This video is long but repeats the message that intel leaks kill US all The White House denies the leaks, but does anyone believe that.
    Does anyone care?

May this group of national security guradians run ads in all states especially swing states.
Tell it like it is, brave ones.

Let us quit talking and find out how we can get this broadcast during the World Series this year.
    How much will it cost?
How do we stop the injunction that we know will be assigned?
How do we convince the network that they have to air it?

There’s no doubt that the national-security leaking is bang out of order, but we should leave them to make themselves look foolish.

As soon as former Navy SEALS start joining the fray – however right their point of view might be – it makes both sides look as though they are using national security as a political football.

However hard it might be, we should not sink to the levels of our opponents. After all, apart from the idiots and the ideologues, most people understand the truth about the killing of Bin Laden.

As someone has often said here before, the problem about arguing with stupid people is that they bring you down to their own level, and then beat you with their experience.

  • hart65

when you speak of anything our military accomplishes, have enough respect to use “We”
