And the calls for recusal begin anew. Less than an hour after Sessions resigned and Trump announced his replacement, Whitaker, Democrat leaders have demanded the acting AG recuse himself from the Russian probe. From TheHill.com:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday called for acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to recuse himself from “any involvement” in special counsel Robert Mueller‘s Russia probe, which Whitaker has previously criticized.

“It is impossible to read Attorney General [Jeff] Sessions’ firing as anything other than another blatant attempt by [President Trump] to undermine & end Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation,” Pelosi wrote in a tweet.

And the other Dem leader:

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday said that acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker should recuse himself from overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation.

“Given his previous comments advocating defunding and imposing limitations on the Mueller investigation, Mr. Whitaker should recuse himself from its oversight for the duration of his time as acting attorney general,” Schumer said in a statement on Wednesday.

Feinstein, Sanders and many others have joined the choir and are giving Trump stern warnings not to interfere with the Mueller investigation lest face impeachment over it. I’m sure Trump is shaking in his boots.

Who could have predicted that??? Trump could have picked Santa Clause and they would demand his recusal!

Seems that their firewall to protect and continue their Mueller witch hunt probe is crumbling and they are in panic mode. And they should be without their guard dog Rosenstein protecting Mueller and his probe because without Russia! Russia! Russia! they have to find new ways to take down Trump.

No worries. They’ve got that covered already too given their newfound House majority power, including holding televised hearings with Mueller testifying to what he found:

Democrats have already indicated that they plan to conduct oversight on a series of matters relating to the Trump administration — including his move to oust Sessions on Wednesday.

“Americans must have answers immediately as to the reasoning behind @realDonaldTrump removing Jeff Sessions from @TheJusticeDept. Why is the President making this change and who has authority over Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation? We will be holding people accountable,” tweeted Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), who is the Democrat presumed to become chair of the House Judiciary Committee in the next Congress.

Once again, the Dems can’t seem to understand the Executive Branch’s prerogative and Constitutional power to hire and fire his employees at will.

Yes, panic is in the air when former AG Holder  realizes that the Mueller probe won’t be given carte blanch without Rosenstein:

Eric Holder lashed out Wednesday following the news that Rosenstein is no longer in control of the Russia witch hunt.

“This is a red line” Holder said.

HOLDER: Anyone who attempts to interfere with or obstruct the Mueller inquiry must be held accountable. This is a red line. We are a nation of laws and norms not subject to the self interested actions of one man.

It’s past time Trump cleaned house at DOJ and maybe Rosenstein will be the next resignation today…if justice is to be served for the American people.
