MEMBER DIARY

You’ve Got to Be Kidding, Mr. President

I am addressing this post to my fellow citizens of MI-01, fellow activists across the country, and especially to Congressional Democrats and candidates currently serving in Congress.

The word is out; Mike Allen at Politico.com had the story yesterday. This administration is going to push the Senate to pass a cap-and-trade bill this summer. Then, with the same arrogance we have seen before from this administration, they are planning on passing a final bill during the lame-duck session of Congress that follows November’s elections—elections where the people will have spoken and expressed their will regarding the type of government they want, elections that will show incumbents that the people will no longer accept irresponsible government. The writing is on the wall for incumbents from both parties: either listen to the people and only pass legislation with their consent, or suffer the consequences in November.

This president is going to try to use the lame-duck session to achieve his agenda–transformation of America into a big government juggernaut, in charge of every aspect of our lives. Passage of the cap-and-trade bill will be a blight and burden on this country. Instead of seeing economic recovery, we will sink into the morass that is Europe. Extreme green energy and climate change agendas can bankrupt nations. America does not want to go down this road; this a freight train that must be stopped.

We have to stop this administration from going forward with this plan and continuing its record of passing legislation against the will of the people through behind-closed-door tactics and political wheeling and dealing. Now is the time for everyone to stand up and say again, “Enough is Enough!”

I am setting up a Web site with a petition drive for all concerned Americans to urge the Democratic candidates to sign a pledge that says they will stand with you, the people, and not pass this cap-and-trade legislation in such an underhanded manner. This will be their opportunity to show the American people that they are truly on the side of the people, and not against them. If they do not sign this pledge and continue to pass bills against our will, then we must make it clear that the newly elected Congressional Activists who take office in January will work to repeal or refuse to fund these harmful economic monstrosities. We must do it with the health care bill, and if we have to we will do it with cap and trade. It is about time Washington understood that our activism is not going to stop. November will only be the beginning….

Join me and sign the petition at NoLameDuckTax.com. Express your concern as Americans and activists. Our government should be responsible and accountable, not arrogant and dismissive. Let’s take it back.

I remain your fellow activist, who would like to serve the people of Michigan’s 1st District as their Congressional Representative. I will be an activist Congressman, standing with this district and our great country, in espousing; “Enough is Enough!”

    Vote D for Despair

Easy to dance to, got a catchy rhythm, I give it a 10!

Put Red behind the ‘Vote R for Repeal’ and blue behind ‘vote D for Despair’. I want one!

will be a blight and a burden. Yes, and Obama himself is a blight and a burden on the country.

If we apply alot of heat here, we may change their minds about trying it. If we fail to act, we know that they won’t change their minds.

      full speed ahead!

And that is how you know that you’re dealing with radicals rather than politicians. Welcome to America’s political version of suicide bombers. As long as they achieve their ends, nothing else matters. True believers to the core.

The trick is to shoot ‘em out of the sky before they hit. That’s what we have to strategize to do. The busier we can make them, the more we can occupy their resources, the more we can keep them off balance, the less time and energy they’ll have to achieve their ends. A slew of time-consuming FOIA requests might be one good way to start…

I forgot to mention that the petition idea is a good one. The more ways you keep pressure on, the better.

LET’S KEEP THE PRESSURE ON. LET’S WORK HARD. LET’S STOP THE MADNESS.

would be nice to spread the outrage!

Has no Republican in Congress spoken openly against this latest outrage, so that a 3 or 4 minute expose’ could be posted there?

  • JadedByPolitics

in the NRSC, NRCC treated US HERE with the same RESPECT that you do, they would have 2X the amount of money as the Democrats.

Thank you for coming by so frequently and being a STANDARD BEARER for Conservatism!

Schumer’s underhanded and admittedly unConstitutional “Disclosure” law is in the House today and will doubtless pass with the Dem. majority there.
We had some furor over the NRA carve-out yesterday, but the entire bill is so partisan and radical (anti-First Amendment entirely) that I feel none of these phone calls and emails and letters and postings amount to anytihng.
Members of any active political group outside unions and beknighted green whackos, et. al., can be required in the name of “transparency” by list for their contributions or actions as a citizen participant in the election process.
I don’t really care who knows what I do, but the entire bill’s purpose is to 1) prevent the Citizens United case from applying to this election so corporations are banned from political contributions and 2) harassment and intimidation can be perpetuated against “un-favorced” political activisits by whoever is on the Dem. side.
This unconsienceable intrusion by the Dems. into the election process is so disgusting and disturbing it makes me fear for the entire future of the US..
Like a jerk, I had been thinking that LJB saw the writing on the wall, so he didn’t seek another term. And Carter and his economy were so awful the people gave him one term. But this administration and Congress in power now have no sense or caring for what the electorate want or pressure for. They only have their power and distorted vision that they are deternined to carry out in spite of denmonstrations or polls or even elections themselves.

We need to keep the pressure on the CongressCritters.

They will hear us in November.

Dr. Dan, please make darn sure that there are plenty of R poll watchers on August 3, and then in the General, after you win the R primary.

  • RottDawg

The time to put the pressure on the incumbents is NOW!

They may sign the pledge (if pushed by “we the people”) to try and save their skin in November, But once they are defeated they will do whatever this president wants trying to get a nice cushy job. We all know that this administration is afraid to offer jobs for favors.

Then all we can hope for is to get it repealed…

There’s going to be whole lot of repealing going on around here come January!

I would like everyone to know here at RS what an outstanding person you are. After Stupak sold us out that very night I sent you a donation check, copied the check and sent the copy to Stupak. On the copied check I wrote a note stating my vote may not be good in Michigan but my money is and I will do everything in my power to support Dr Benishek and everything in my power to get an American traitor out of office.

Within weeks I received a thank you note from Dr. Benishek for the donation. It was not the usual thank you letter, thank you email but an actual thank you card. I have say that was a first and you impressed me! It will be refreshing to have a real American in office and not some puppet of the party.

THANKS FOR SENDING SUCH A KIND COMMENT. WE SEND OUT A THANK YOU FOR EVERY CHECK WE RECEIVE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A WHILE BECAUSE WE’RE ON THE ROAD A LOT BUT WE WORK ON THEM WHENEVER WE’RE HOME. WE ARE VERY FRUGAL WITH THE DONATIONS AND VERY GRATEFUL FOR EVERY DOLLAR WE RECEIVE.

and Enron came up with the whole Cap and Trade scheme. Is that true? If so, we need to get people talking about it while the anti-BP feeling is high. Also, isn’t trading carbon credits just creating a new derivatives market? Aside from the additional tax burden, don’t you think people will object to the creation of a new derivatives market as well? And I am assuming if BP is behind it, then they expect to be able to make a killing somehow in that market. I’m fairly well informed, so if I need an education on this, then I’m guessing the general public does too.
