Joe Walsh’s Smackdown of Obama on Immigration

It's better alligators than Hollywood celebrities

Like no other president in American history, President Obama supports the domineering use of government over every facet of our lives.  Yet, when it comes to one of the few core functions of government, like border security and the regulation of immigration, he is suddenly tepid about asserting power.  Worse, he uses the power of executive agencies to disregard and subvert immigration laws that were duly passed by Congress.  Now he is denigrating those who suffer from gang violence along the border and those who seek to fulfill our core constitutional responsibilities.

Earlier this week, Obama thought that he would interject his “White House Correspondents’ Dinner level of intellect” into our national security, by accusing Republicans of desiring an alligator-filled moat along the southern border.  Today, Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) offered a superlative smackdown of Obama’s immigration speech in El Paso through an open letter to the President:

“When you consult with Latino Hollywood celebrities such as Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson wanting their take on, you aren’t serious. When you sit down with the SEIU and other union leaders to get their take on immigration reform, you aren’t serious. When you threaten to sue border states that are only doing what the federal government won’t do, you aren’t being serious. And, finally, when you bring up ‘immigration reform’ for political reasons – to fire up the folks on the left as the election season nears – you aren’t serious.

When it comes to securing our borders, enforcing our immigration laws and holding businesses accountable to hiring illegal immigrants, Mr. President, I, like many of my Republican colleagues, am serious. And if it would take introducing legislation to build a moat with alligators in order to secure our borders to get you to be serious on the topic – I’m game.”

Read the entire letter here and view the video response here.

Congressman Joe Walsh is a freshman who won an upset victory in a swing district.  Despite the fact that he represents a suburban Chicago district and will be one of the most targeted freshmen, he is pulling no punches with Obama.  He also voted against the 2011 CR/budget deal and is the House sponsor of the Balanced Budget Amendment.  Now he is leading the way on immigration.   Way to go, Joe!

that Obama has a fundamental disdain for the United States of America and is doing everything in his power to weaken our nation?

Obama makes decisions based on 3 things:

    1) Does is weaken America?

    2) Does the decision strengthen Obama?

    3) Does it further his liberal ideology?

The only tough decisions for Obama are ones that are in conflict with one of those 3 principles / goals.

For instance, closing Gitmo will weaken America and further his liberal ideology – but it also weakens Obama. That’s why Gitmo is still open.

Same thing with sending more troops to Iraq…

Same thing with taking out bin Laden. There are 2 things Obama was worried about with the bin Laden decision – 1) if it goes bad it will make him look bad, and 2) what will muslims think of Obama?

Barack Obama is a threat to the prosperity of this nation and if he is not defeated in 2012 our country is in for a world of hurt for at least a generation.

Although, there are times when he is so committed to his ideology that he will take political risks. I really believe that immigration is one such issue. Even though he believes that he will buttress his support among Hispanics, he will lose far more white independents, the quintessential voting demographic. The majority of the population is strongly against his amnesty plans, and that is the true reason why Senators from his own party scuttled the Dream Act. They are scared of their voters.

This is how you take on Obama–by getting right into his grill and firing away.
Trump, for all his faults, showed how easy it is to ruffle the guy. Walsh is taking the same tack but without the Donald’s baggage(or hair).

Most Hispanics are by nature conservative. In Texas, we have families that have been here since before the battle of the Alamo. That is true throughout southern Texas. These long established families are predominantly conservative. Obama was only here to raise money anyway. The stop in El Paso was to make it Official and on our dime. Austin was the money raiser. You won’t here much about that.

Illegal invaders know first hand what a socialist government can do to impoverish it’s citizens. They may come here uneducated and totally ignorant of the idea of Federalism but they are very keen on identifying a liar. Maybe they come here thinking Government should provide for their needs but the opportunity to work is the greater motivation.

With less then 400 miles of fencing built, Obama suggested it is nearly complete. It was he who put a stop to it’s construction. He is a hypocrite and a liar. He insults his own people thinking he will gain politically. This is delusional thinking. The man is not right in the head.

Maybe the poor black families attending black liberation theology churches can be forgiven their misinterpretation of the scriptures, MAYBE. It is much more difficut to forgive those media whores from fine colleges repeating what Geaorge Soros funds tell them to say.

I voted for Jimmy Carter the first time I was able to vote. I have not made that mistake again. I expect a lot of people are getting their eyes opened to how destructive socialism is to a united people. I think their eyes are getting opened very wide every time Obama speaks. He sure had an impact on this trip. He refused to meet with our Governor or to even fly over our burning west. Over 2 million acres and counting now gone. Both our Senators invited him to do so and he refused to even look out the window of our luxury 747.

Texas is a net payer into the federal coffers unlike many States. We will survive quite well thank you but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the same support in times of tragedy as States Obama thinks he might actually win an election in.

Reagan won over one term Carter with 49 States. The clock is ticking on Obama. I don’t think the clock is his friend.

hasn’t taken Obama to the woodshed for his rank lies in this matter although they may figure he has done himself more harm than good with his demagoguery. Nonetheless, Obama needs to be called by Boehner and McConnell.

    • gunslingr45

hold your breath on that one please.

    • ag8tor

Neither of them has the stones to say anything they think might cost THEM votes. They still haven’t gotten past Pelosi running things and kicking their a** everyday. Where is the outrage Boehner showed on the House floor during the O-care debate. Haven’t seen even a flicker of it since he was made Speaker. Politics over the will of the people. Just as I feared after the November mandate, the Rs are doing business as usual even though they own the majority. Does this not seem strange to anyone but me?

we’re waiting for someone to come forward from the GOP with b-lls to stand up for the American Citizen Taxpayers and really give us our country back.

  • marine61sgt

Joe, why not throw in a couple of thousand pirinas to help the gators in keeping the moat clean. They would pick up what the gators leave behind.

  • CJB68

Am I safe in presuming that this Joe Walsh isn’t the one who used to play lead guitar for the James Gang back in the day?  That’s what having a common name gets you.  (I knew a kid by the name of Jimmy Carter back in grade school… during the Carter Administration era.)

Much of what Representative Walsh is saying makes sense to me.  I also wonder if the flood of illegals residing in this country is having an effect on me being able to find work.  In fact, I’m sure of it.  A recent phone call from a prospective employer asking me if I were bilingual (what tipped them off — my name?) was probably what nailed it for me.

Given what we’re dealing with these days, I won’t be surprised if the immigration issue (should be called for what it is — an INVASION!) is just one of those things keeping the economy on ice.  The economy trumps any horn-blowing by the Aministration over its takedown of Bin Laden, and will be a key factor in next year’s elections for me.

    • bruceinva

but if we were to be blessed, then Obama would take Walsh’s advice and just “Walk this Way” toward the exit sign.

  • politicalqrm

the type of leader we need in Congress. He remembers why he was elected and is sticking to his guns when it comes to the issues.

A politician with backbone and ethics. Amazing and refreshing!

  • renny

    they are really vicious.

We should practice the same immigration law as Mexico does against anyone who tries to illegally enter MX from the south.

Some Rep. presidential candidate has to tap into these issues and win, eventually, in my wildest dreams.

    • http://redmeatconservative.blogspot.com/ Daniel Horowitz

will do the job that American presidents won’t do, and they will create shovel ready jobs to boot.

    • blooch

Would Mexicans jump the moat?…nah, that’s a job even they would’n't do.

Let’s save some money and use Pacu instead of crocs to do the job Obama won’t do. They’re omnivores, so we can feed ‘em kudzu during lulls.

  • ag8tor

while the illegal alien population expands. Nero fiddles wile Rome burns. Is there a correlation here?

  • oneconservative

Joe Walsh has quickly become one of my favorites. I heard him speak at a TEA Party last year and was impressed. Admittedly, I didn’t think he could beat Melissa Bean and her $3 million war chest while Joe only had about $500K in his. This race goes to show what having big time TEA Party and grass roots support can do.

The Illinois Libs may try to draw him out of a district but I am donating to his re-election campaign.

    • http://redmeatconservative.blogspot.com/ Daniel Horowitz

that is exactly what we need to do. Walsh will be one of the biggest targets of the DCCC, especially because he is in Illinois with Obama on the top of the ticket. Despite that, and threats from unfavorable redistricting, Walsh is not backing down from his views.

  • cja99

for all these illegals, for their medical, education, etc., and our President COULD CARE LESS. All he cares about is the VOTE. You and I foot the bill, pay through the nose and Obama wants more of our hard earned money to pay for all these entitlements for illegals, just so that he can court their vote. American citizen taxpayers have to obey the laws of this land, why shouldn’t the illegals? Sounds fair to me guys.

    • cpa2222

He is a fervent anti-colonialist, raised outside of mainstream America, never experienced the black politics, educated by Alinski and Marx, and opposed to any institution or company that “oppresses” the little man. Banks foreclose, oil companies succeed, Wall Street provides the means to fuel the economy, and our health care system is the best in the world because we’ve developed a private insurance system and augmented by government assistance. He is against all of these things–hell, he invites rappers to the White House who laud cop-killing thugs, uses the ignorant SEIU masses as his Gestapo, and so alienated our longest and strongest ally in the world with his churlish behavior, that he couldn’t even snag a seat in Westminster Abbey–he uses the office of the president to fund his family vacations and his golf game. Even Jimmy Carter only looked incompetent, compared to this misogynist. Congress is the only hope to stop him, until the 2012 elections can reverse him. Look at all who oppose him–the Red States don’t exist in his version of America. Please, Congress, stop him before he does any more irreparable harm to the United States.

made my whole morning a whole lot brighter. Way to go Joe! indeed!

  • realskinny

What a POS is our Prez. American Agents, Police, landowners and vacationers murdered along the border and he makes jokes about it. What a really classy guy. It’s no joking matter to the American people. Dig a moat? BO’s buffoons can’t even build a fence!

  • rightwingmom52

on the Laura Ingraham Show. He was an articulate, straight talker and very impressive. Didn’t show away from any topic and gave a voice to what many conservatives have been saying for a long time.
