One of the reasons I was sour on a Santorum nomination was his predilection toward drifting into social issues. While social issues are important to many of us, they are NOT the prevailing issues most important to the American electorate.

Mitt Romney needs to forever remind the public about Obama’s failures on deficits, debt, jobs, gas prices, and everything else that ails our economy. He also needs to steer clear of the word “bipartisanship”. The public heard that crap in 2008 and will hold it against Obama if he tries it again this time around.

Staying on message, hammering Obama on his record, and laying out a conservative vision that provides SOLUTIONS will galvanize support for Romney.

And by the way, our congressional candidates and strategists need to stay on message, too. The public needs to be saturated with what is important to them, not Obama’s distractions.

..fighting on the social issues too. When your adversary starts the fight you’ll lose if you chose to ignore the kicks and only respond to the punches. Sorta like the Republican parties been doing for a long time. So Rick may not have been so dumb after all.

        being the VP pick?

And I agree, the nominee needs to make sure they don’t let their focus get redirected away from the issues that matter. The left will try, as usual, to continuously move the goal posts and change what the debate is about.

Of course Dems are quacking about social issues. They know talking about the economy and gas prices is a big fat LOSER for them.

Economy…gas prices…jobs…Obama’s deficits…failed government “stimulus”…day after day relentlessly…THAT is what wins the White House back. Santorum would have shifted the focus to things that will not win us votes. Romney will talk about the things that matter most to voters…Independent and Republican alike.

to die for. The Dems and Baby O already have been using that one for 3 1/2 years, you will see much more of it. It is even possible some of them believe it.
Funny thing though, Democrats controlled both Chambers just as things were getting “so much worse”. And isn’t that where appropriations are written, and where Baby O himself sat. Remarkable how they can know something that is a non-existent speculation and excuse.

It’s not just social issues versus the economy. It is thinking versus agitprop, rationality versus unreasoning hatred stirred up by the left. Get more people currently bought into the left’s lies to think and the left loses.
