To: contact@redstate.comDear Erick: You should rename your site Redneck.com. You conservatives should start your own party - We would have three: Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives. Why don’t you? Because you are cowards. You know that you would get a laughing 15% of the vote. But show some balls! Please! Any party that criticizes a governor for hugging a president is a laughing stock. Any party that refuses a cap-and-trade solution to global climate change is made up of a bunch of complete a**holes.
Your motto should be: “The conservative party - Where ideology trumps knowledge”

Wow . . .
Composer_Man Monday, November 16th at 11:02AM EST (link)Consider that penultimate sentence: “Any party that refuses a cap-and-trade solution to global climate change is made up of a bunch of complete @$$#$s.”
So, discussion is no longer legitimate; policy debate is no longer necessary; the case has been open and shut for us by . . . whom? Never mind - just snap to and get in line.
Sheesh! Do these guys really not see the totalitarian bent of comments like this? I really think we need to come up with a better word than “liberal” to describe these folks, as they are anything but.
No comment needed, really

It's a long way across MT or TX and up or down CA.
Achance Monday, November 16th at 12:00PM EST (link)I’ve driven them both back in the days of the 55mph speed limit; you feel like you’re going to die of old age before you get across them.
Now, if you want a long drive, try ANC or FAI to Seattle via the Alaska Highway. That wasn’t a drive, it was an adventure back before it was all paved. Now it can still be a little adventurous in winter because of the weather, fifty below or colder is not uncommon in the Yukon Territory or eastern Interior Alaska, but the road is pretty good and very well maintained on both sides of the border.

Richard Mullins Monday, November 16th at 11:33PM EST (link)so driving from Texarkana is all that is close to that there but not over. . I should say I love driving from San Antonio to Austin because a part of it south of San Marcos has an unwritten speed limit of 100 MPH(very normal there). 38 Miles from Juneau to the end of the road.
Achance Tuesday, November 17th at 10:30AM EST (link)That’s west, you can go about nine miles east. If you’re going further you need to be a very good swimmer or get a boat or a plane. The nearest connection to the Canadian and US road system is at Haines or Skagway, six or seven hours by ferry. It is 909 air miles to Seattle, about two and a half hours by B737.. It is 571 to Anchorage, an hour and twenty by B737, another hour on to Fairbanks or an hour and change out to Nome or Kotzebue on the Western and Northwest Arctic Coasts and fom Fairbanks to Barrow is another hour and a half or so and that’s as far north as you can get in the US. Nobody here even thiinks of distances in miles. Ask somebody in Bethel how far it is to St. Mary’s and they’ll answer 40 minutes in a 207 (Cessna 207, a common light aircraft in the Bush).

No, you can't just vote the Party slate in Alaska.
Achance Monday, November 16th at 11:52AM EST (link)You have to vote each race and issue seperately and the ballots have them reandomly arranged. Doesn’t stop you from voting a straight party slate but you have to do it one at the time. Most of Alaska uses optical scan and most polling places have at least one touch screen for handicapped voters. Some places in the Bush still use hand-counted ballots but they have a long tradition of counting them until they get them right.
Back in the days when Alaska had five time zones, you pretty much knew how many votes you needed coming out of the old Alaska Standard Time (EST minus 5) zone that included Anchorage and Fairbanks. If it were close enough to close the gap in The Bush, the whole Bush went up for sale through the next couple of hours and the whole village would just vote for which ever candidate made the best offer. Interestingly and even strangely, that system was undone by a Democrat, Gov. Sheffield, in the early ’80s. The Democrats still do quite well in The Bush but not as well as they used to.
In Vino Veritas
Well that's good
Richard Mullins Monday, November 16th at 12:39PM EST (link)because it’s a tool to get more stupid Democratic votes out of Big cites like Houston,San Antonio,Dallas,Austin and quite a few more. Stupid always love thing that make it easy to vote stupidly.

All they’re really doing is indicating that our opinions must be right on some level. I can’t say completely because we do have some differences in opinion when interpreting the facts.

Freedoms Truth Monday, November 16th at 11:51AM EST (link)surprise, surprise!
Here’s the thing - the anti-”Redneck” attitude is just simple northeast/New York PREJUDICE, but he doesnt even realize it. It’s an acceptable prejudice against other Americans in those parts (just like some southerners have that damn-yankee dislike).
ALSO …
What I dont get is how this guy who apparently is violating campaign finance laws (I mean, hasnt corporate contributions been illegal???) be so open in blasting other people.

What surprised me most about NY was the number of rednecks here
peg_c Monday, November 16th at 12:08PM EST (link)I was truly amazed; this is quite a redneck state and many folks in other regions don’t realize it.
As a SoCal lefty gal I was shocked. As a NY conservative I’m now aligned with the rednecks. LOL!
The weird thing about this email is how immature it is coming from a presumed business owner. If that’s what he is.
Government cannot be the solution when government is the problem.
Among other reasons, a lot of Southerners have
Achance Monday, November 16th at 12:40PM EST (link)that “damn Yankee dislike” because so many of them look down on us and call us rednecks. Of course, they do it to everybody from “flyover country.”
A co-worker and I were at a meeting in Boston not long after the ‘04 Election. We were sitting in a bar chatting and minding our own business. Suddenly, the sharpnosed, short-haired, pursed lipped brunette woman - they have a factory where they make them - turns to us and says right out of the blue, “You two are from one of those red states! What the @#$% were you rednecks thinking?” Now, he’s from Wyoming but has lived in Alaska since his teenage years and I’m from Georgia but nobody in Georgia would think I have a Southern accent; they’d say, “You a Yankee, aintcha?”
Anyway, he and I proceeded to tell her what we were thinking and what we thought of womyn like her, something she clearly wasn’t accustomed to, until the bar manager came over, told her to cool it and bought us a round. Too wierd!

He sounds like a Crist supporter
JoeG Monday, November 16th at 11:53AM EST (link)I note the governor hugging 0bama comment. I take that to mean that he’s a Crist supporter.
That makes me feel even more of a kinship to Rubio.
Good catch, JoeG

And the liberal Democratic Party — Where stupidity trumps arrogance.
Maybe this doofuss hasn't seen the polls that show 40% self identification as Conservative
AceInTX Monday, November 16th at 1:38PM EST (link)which ain’t bad since the Democrat Party represents at best 48% ID in most elections. If every self identified conservative joined a Conservative Party we’d be the second largest party before we attracted a single independent to a conservative banner…
That’s not to say we should form a Conservative Party…we need what Reagan said…a revitalized Republican Party built around that 40% base….let the so called moderates join the rest of us or go their own way…we can replace them with conservative leaning independents and stop pandering to northeastern liberals

Oh...and what kind of idiot write a letter like that and then identifies themselves as the president of a corporation. Does that mean Pioneer Lock Corp agrees with this screed?
AceInTX Monday, November 16th at 1:42PM EST (link)I don’t know anything about the company…if it’s a small S corp or LLC./..or if it has shareholders…but if it’s the latter…this guy should be taken to the woodshed for stating his position and leaving the impression that his corporation agrees with this kind of juvenile rant!

Just spoke to Peter for about an hour
aglanon Monday, November 16th at 4:25PM EST (link)Honestly, he’s not a bad guy. I spent the first few minutes telling him that he was a fool for using his business email address to send hate mail, but by the end of the hour, I think he may have realized that we aren’t complete redneck a**holes and he even had to admit that I relayed my opinions in a way that gave him perspective on conservatives that he hadn’t had before (not that any of it changed his mind).
Dont be too tough on him, he’s not that unreasonable, just misguided and probably surrounded by propoganda being from new york.
And for ANYONE who doubts my conservative credentials, don’t.
It was honestly a very normal and healthy debate. I think he just sent the email out of anger.
I emailed Peter...
madsjim Monday, November 16th at 4:26PM EST (link)To see if he had a lock to keep my closed mind shut. He wrote back that he couldn’t help me but had a suggestion “to stop voting”.
It is a shame he felt the need to do this, especially from company email.

I'm sick & tired of all the "peters" telling the RNC & the right what to think!
neyney Monday, November 16th at 5:06PM EST (link)The biggest problem juding by last yrs election is that the stupid RNC is listening. Get with the program RNC, the left is not your buddy. The left is not your friend. The left is the ENEMY and they have NO BUSINESS telling us on the right what we should and shouldn’t do. Here’s hoping that all the RINO’s, DIABLOS, and Blue Dogs get booted out and all the DEM seats go to rock ribbed comservatives in 2010. That’s a start. No more McCain’s, Bush’s, Crist’s, or anymore Dem Lite candidates.
Hey lefties, here’s a clue. STFU and stop telling us “rednecks” who to vote for. Bunch of elitist snob gamma males!
Maybe we should just order a lock from a conservative competitor
ocleverone Monday, November 16th at 9:15PM EST (link)and send him an email letting him know.
To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher
