Friends, let me have your attention for a minute.
We won Pennsylvania by default with Pat Toomey. Same in Florida with Marco Rubio.
We lost in Indiana with Marlin Stutzman, though I hope we’ll see him again within two years.
We won in Utah tossing Bob Bennett — but it won’t be much of a win unless Mike Lee wins the primary.
Along the way, we’ve given little attention to a must win primary — Colorado and Ken Buck.
I know Ken Buck. In fact, of all the candidates I’ve endorsed: Stutzman, Rubio, Lee, Toomey, Haley, etc. I know Ken Buck and his wife the best. We’ve got to get this guy to the United States Senate. Seriously.
I hate to sound like Rush Limbaugh, but don’t doubt me on this one. I think I’ve earned it here just this once.
Colorado and this nation both need a guy like Ken Buck who will unquestionably have Jim DeMint’s back and be not a politician, but an actually normal guy in the Senate — a man without pretension, but with conviction.
Let’s go all in for Ken Buck.

I think it's time for a Redstate Senate primary widget
mbauer (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 12:32PM EDT (link)With so many awesome candidates in primaries, it really is exciting to rally around these guys and gals. Why not have a list of all Senate races (and any other races of interest) with a list of all major candidates, and the primary date. Maybe take it a step further and note on each race which editors have endorsed who, and some polling stat (trends, polling average, most recent Rasmussen pole, or something). Then these victories we have can be clearly marked, almost like trophies, as we win primaries and shit focus to the actual races. And, it can help prevent some races from falling under the radar.
Then, this widget could naturally advance to a general election widget. … just a thought
mbauer, here's a good site with a list of the upcoming primaries

I just have to commend you Eric.
jeffreywturner (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 12:39PM EDT (link)Far all of the misguided folks who say we should just abandon the GOP and start a new party, and all of the defeatists who say we should just concede that we won’t be able to elect conservatives anymore and should just accept the “moderates” the GOP throws at us, you are one of the few people with the right idea, which is that we need to reclaim the GOP, and you are one of the even fewer who are actually doing something about it.
Now was that sentence long enough?
Hats off to Eric. Keep up the great work, and keep letting us know how to help.

donating now
partyof1 Sunday, May 9th at 1:15PM EDT (link)This goes back to the earlier post from today “RedState Has the Pulse of the Grassroots” which I mostly agree with…
In the interest of raising the profile and influence of RedState, I have been timing my donations to candidates to coincide with their being profiled here (profiled by RS contributor posts, not the candidates themselves).
So hopefully if they see a spike in donations on that day, they will make the connection and know who their friends are.
To this end we could also do it in a more structured way by planning a (RS initiated) “moneybomb” for a certain candidate on a certain day which I think has been done to some success by the Ron Paul supporters in the past. Any thoughts on this.
Thanks for mentioning Haley.
shadowtax (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 2:15PM EDT (link)I know posts about her don’t seem to get much interest around here, but you write about her anyways. Her primary is less than a month away. SC Governor is a tight 4 person race!
Why Haley over Gresham Barrett?
crassus (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 2:21PM EDT (link)They both seem pretty good, but Barrett has one of the best records in South Carolina.
We heard her live in Atlanta
Neil Stevens (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 2:36PM EDT (link)She’s the one who stood up to big government Republicans at the trough, and been personally targetted by the porkers with political retribution for her commitment to small government.
We’ve got to back her all the way.
Plus she has Jenny Sanford’s endorsement. Can’t beat that.

Barrett voted for bailouts and stimulus.
shadowtax (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 4:23PM EDT (link)Barrett argues that Haley made a couple of votes to accept stimulus money in the SC House, but ultimately Nikki sided with Governor Sanford by voting against the budget which declined the stimulus funds.
Nikki has also been pushing for a bill that would require all spending votes to be on the record. As it stands now, an individual legislator must make a timely request. It is amazing how much resistance she has met from her own party. She made an issue out of it and has gotten it passed, unanimously, through the House. Now she is fighting to get it through the Senate.
You can see Youtube video of her Senate sub-committee testimony at the main page of www.nikkihaley.com. It is broken into 3 clips. It is worth a watch.
No Republicans voted for the porkulus
crassus (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 7:51PM EDT (link)Barrett’s voting record is almost identical to DeMint’s. I think the ACU score is 98.5 for DeMint, 98.0 for Barrett
You are right about the stimulus vote.
shadowtax (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 9:57PM EDT (link)Mistake on my part. The dispute is over the $700 billion bailout of 2008. This is one vote where the two part company. Barrett voted Yes. Demint voted No.
Problems with the truth
Uncle Daniel Tuesday, May 11th at 11:28AM EDT (link)Haley’s had some problems with the truth lately:
http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/government/elections/2010-05-06/fact-check-haleys-value-added-tax-charge-wrong?v=1273153509
She also flip-flopped on the stimulus:
http://www.thestate.com/2010/02/06/1144202/haleys-stimulus-stance-at-odds.html
Plus she’s endorsed (and endorsed by) Romney. Barrett’s got Fred Thompson… Let’s see…

crassus (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 7:44PM EDT (link)I was wondering about the primary- as in how is he doing against Norton.
The fact that
sch1168 Sunday, May 9th at 8:46PM EDT (link)Jane Norton dropped out of the state assembly is pretty telling, but I don’t know of any polling on Buck v. Norton.
There's some polling out there.
NightTwister (Diary) Monday, May 10th at 12:54PM EDT (link)I have no idea how accurate or recent it is. They all show Norton up by as much as 2-1, but the ones that have her up the most are older.

Join Ken Buck on Facebook
colawman (Diary) Sunday, May 9th at 2:50PM EDT (link)Please take a few moments and joing Ken Buck on Facebook. It is an excellent way to follow the campaign. Ken frequently contributes to the FB page.
Regarding the primary polling: Rasmussen has not done a Republican primary poll in Colorado. There have been independent polls commissioned by individual campaigns. I am not privvy to the polls but I do have some insight. Jane Norton withdrew from the Colorado Assembly, obviously due to polling. In Colorado you need 30 percent of the delegates to get on the primary ballot. If you fail to capture 15 percent of the ballot it prevents you from seeking a place on the ballot by petition. Withdrawing from the Assembly forfiets a candidates opportunity for top line on the ballot. Since Ken Buck’s popularity amongst the delegates caused two of the Republican candidates to drop out of the assembly, Ken is assured top spot on the ballot.
Jane Norton is cutting staff while Ken is adding staff. That should also tell you something.

NightTwister (Diary) Monday, May 10th at 8:50AM EDT (link)My fear is both sides will go viral and we’ll fail to take back this seat. There just isn’t enough difference between the candidates for the issues themselves to distinguish them from each other.

The Same Thing Is Happening on The Dem Side in CO Though
IJB Monday, May 10th at 1:03PM EDT (link)My guess is that whoever emerges from *either* primary in CO will be somewhat battered.
But both parties will coalesce around the eventual winner, and I think it’ll end up being a net wash, neither helping nor hurting either side.
