Apparently Elena Kagan is a softball player, or something like that. It is not a subject I care to write about, want to write about, or think is relevant to much of anything considering the woman’s only definitive answer on any matter of jurisprudence is that she believes there is no federal constitutional right to gay marriage. So that’s that.Except it isn’t. And it is not because of the right, but because of the left. The Wall Street Journal ran a picture on its front page of Kagan playing softball in college. Immediately, the paper was attacked by gay rights groups claiming the picture was a coded message about Kagan’s sexuality. Those of us who have been paying attention to the whole business of this nomination recognized the running of that picture for what it was — the only flattering picture of Ms. Kagan to come out in the press in the past several weeks. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Since becoming Chairman of the NRCC, I have had one goal – a goal I share with you: to retire Nancy Pelosi. In the next 11 days, we have an opportunity to take two crucial steps, in overwhelmingly Democrat-leaning districts, towards achieving our shared goal. But we cannot sit back and expect victory; we have to go and take it.On May 18 in Pennsylvania, voters in the late-Congressman Murtha’s district will go to the polls to select his replacement. They are confronted with two clear choices: Tim Burns and Mark Critz. Burns has a history of creating jobs and advocating for smaller government, lower taxes, and now the repeal of the costly government-takeover of healthcare. On the other hand, Mark Critz is a career bureaucrat who would be another dependable vote for Nancy Pelosi. Although he claims he opposes government-run healthcare, he would not vote to repeal it.Please click here for the rest of the post.
Much is being made by this comment I made on CNN tonight.I stand by it.But don’t let it distract you from the fact that I also stand by Chuck DeVore. What I said and what I meant is that the election is four weeks away in California. In two more weeks I’ll check again and see what the polling shows. I believe Tom Campbell would be a terrible nominee. His closeness with disreputable people who’d be happy to see us all dead is too much for me.So if Chuck DeVore is not viable, then I’m with Carly Fiorina. But unlike many, I think Chuck DeVore is viable and has a pulse, which is why I’m not abandoning Chuck. In fact, the only one in the race flatlining right now is Carly Fiorina. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Although the big news has been that Poizner is now within striking distance of Meg Whitman in the CA Gov Republican Primary, I am going to focus on the CA Senate race poll results via SUSA.As I have pointed out, and is now confirmed by SUSA, Chuck DeVore has jumped 5 points in the polls. This positive movement for Chuck DeVore is contrary to the negative movement of Campbell and Fiorina in the 18-49 demographic, 5 and 10 point drops respectively. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Pretty much the entirety of the Republican Establishment is lining up behind Sue Lowden to beat Harry Reid in Nevada. Not me.I just don’t trust her. From her record in the Nevada legislature to her time as head of the Nevada GOP, I think conservatives can do better. I think Danny Tarkanian makes a lot of sense. While Sue Lowden has been running on the “beat Harry Reid” theme, she has ignored both her campaign contributions to Harry Reid and issues. Meanwhile, Danny Tarkanian is taking clear, conservative policy positions we can all support. The race in Nevada has tightened to ten points in a Research 2000 poll and internal Nevada polls have the gap between Lowden and Danny Tarkanian much closer. Please click here for the rest of the post.
This was pretty funny, right up to the moment where (Democratic) Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora threatened reporter Henry Gomez’s wife. Please click here for the rest of the post.
