EDITOR OF REDSTATE

BREAKING: We Know Who Did It

image

Who paid Will Folks? He was allegedly offered money. A LOT of money. In fact, RedState now confirms through a whole heap of sources that he’s been trying to sell this story for a year.

We know who bit.

We know who didn’t bite.

We know who paid Will Folks to push this story out there.

Oh, and you guys in the media, you’ve let Folks string you along. We’re going to string you along.

Tune in later for the answer.

When this is done, I want some scrotums (scrota?) removed from some media people. This has been a vile smear campaign, and the media did all the heavy lifting.

    Get ‘em, Erick!

the answer lets Nikki go on the offensive in a shock-and-awe kind of a way. Destroy someone elses’ career.

If it turns out to have been one of the old-boy-network types, forex.

And, of course, if Nikki can be irrefutably exonerated.

Of course Soros does not really fund Media Matters or the Tides Foundation!

If she had an affair with him, does it really matter who paid him to tell his story? My intent is not to turn him into some pariah. I just don’t see how, if his story is true, it changes anything.

If she had an affair, he could’ve sold the story for $1, or nothing.

    No, but seriously.

It’s got to be someone high up in Carolina Democratic Politics. I cannot believe someone in DC would want to go after Nikki Haley.

What is posted does not state anything about whether what Folks is peddling is true or not, just that it is now known who paid him to sell his story:

“Who paid Will Folks? He was alleged offered money. A LOT of money. In fact, RedState now confirms through a whole heap of sources that he?s been trying to sell this story for a year.”

I hope that this breaking news is a discrediting of Folks, not just a “He was paid by so and so to get his story out.” After all, National Enquirer made money from the Edwards story. I believe in Nikki and what Folks discredited, but the article as posted does not promise that.

    Great Job Erick,

They are the ones that have been rumored to be behind this. Barrett thought he was going to get into a runoff with McMaster until Haley rocketed up the polls last week. Now, in desperation it would seem possible that he ginned this up as a hail mary play to knock Haley down.

  • http://mises.org/store/Vampire-Economy-Doing-Business-Under-Fascism-The-P371.aspx workingtommyc

Well, it was obvious that he was paid something, IMHO.

I’ve just been wondering if he were really going through with pretending that he wasn’t paid or if he were going to sting the person who paid him by revealing ALL before too many more days went by.

Check out his site and go back a few weeks and you’ll find polling he did to check out what people thought of him and his reputation for truth. He must have been banking on his having enough of a reputation to survive the storm he would cause or arrogantly thought that everyone would of course believe him no matter how outrageous the claims.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

    We’ve been keeping track.

  • acat

This encounter with scum will hang around Nikki’s neck for the rest of her career. Should she, in 2016, decide to run for higher office, this will all bubble right back up and the media piranha will get to feed all over again.

Best she can hope for is a full breakdown and confession by the abusive, delusional sack of effluent, but even that won’t purge the digital amber.

    Mew

  • streiff

she knew she’d get the Full Folks if she opened her mouth

  • conservativecrusade

considering that this drawn out answer to Folks claims is doing nothing but keeping this entire matter in the faces of those who will make the choice to vote for her or not.

The whole mess is ugly, I agree with you on that. But regardless, most peoples only concern in this matter is whether or not the affair happened or not. All the other mess is just side issues. And most of her supporters would forgive, if it is true, had she simply admitted the affair when asked. And if she is innocent, they will destroy Folks.

This is the breakdown of redstate visitors.

Red State Company Profile: Redstate.com is a Falls Church, VA, US-based website owned by Mike Krempasky. The domain name redstate.com was first registered on February 11, 2003. This Google Page Rank 7/10 website has a Traffic Estimate rank of 6,556 with an estimated 1,427,300 monthly visits. According to Alexa, Redstate has a worldwide rank of 12,860, is ranked 2,362 in the United States, and has 3,056 external websites linking to it. Redstate.com targets these keywords and phrases with their SEO: “conservative news, conservative government, conservatives, elections, right politics.”

Now lets assume around 5% of the monthly visitors are from SC. That amounts to 71365 people and lets assume about 30% of those are undecided on the race, 21410. All this crap and game playing keeps them undecided and will push them to one of the others.

This site should be on the front line of getting to the truth but it should not keep the issue in our faces until it has the evidence to prove it one way or the other. Rebuttal is one thing and the petty insignificant crap Folks has been putting on his website deserves contempt and an answer. But this post and letting us know who paid Folks does nothing to close this ugly issue. Being paid and being a shit head will not change anything if she had the affair nor will it boost Nikki’s chances to win if it is a lie. If it comes out it was a blatant lie, redstate should put their power behind Nikki in destroying everything Folk. If it is true, the site would have to decide if her lies denying it is enough to not back her or if the site should work for damage control. But either way, this is not helping anything and there are a ton of voters who visit this site, use the site to help them make decisions, and constantly seeing the game playing and reminders of the whole affair, is not helping.

People know Folks is a scumbag, they know the whole way this thing was handled or exposed, true or not, was low class. But people also grow just as disgusted with game playing and harping on a subject just as quickly. And many people have already worked to put this whole thing in the back of their minds, only to see it being brought back to light time after time after time.

If the site has proof positive, not proof like Folks and the Free Press have used, display it and blow this whole thing into bits and be done with it. If not, let others with no tact, keep harping and rehashing the whole matter.

Basically what I am saying in a nutshell is we want to know the truth. We are tired of Folks and his games, but we are also just as tired of the other games. We are about to vote for the “president” of our state, we are tired of the old style political games from any side, and we want a person who we can trust. We despise how Nikki was treated regardless of whether or not it happened and we could care less what his motivations were. What we do want is an end to this from all sides, an end to the games and posting of unfounded and unproven crap, and we want a huge site like this to get to the bottom of the matter one way or the other and that does not include who was paid or who was not paid. We simply want to be able to cast a vote for a trustworthy conservative and we look to sites like this to aid in our decision. We just want the truth on what if anything happened and all the rest of the crap does not matter to most.

  • eburke
  • http://www.thehartlinegroup.com wesley83

John Edwards – lied about an affair
Bill Clinton – Lied about an affair
Mark Sanford – Lied about an affair

I’m not saying she did it. I’m saying that politicians have lied before. Before you crucify this guy, let’s get the facts. If he lied, he will sued for slander.

  • E Pluribus Unum

But I am calculating here, not preaching the ‘coast to the finish line’ strategy.

We have a very, very angry population. We have the most unbelievable combination of incompetence, arrogance, and anti-freedom agenda in a president ever imaginable. We have a media who has used all its leeway and nobody believes. We have a conservative movement (a couple of them, actually) that is as energetic as the situation requires. We (finally) have good conservative candidates coming out of the woodwork, chasing RINOs out of races, and polling far ahead of incumbent Dems. We have the Dems (incredibly) jamming even MORE unfreedom down our throats, screaming louder, and committing fatal mistakes everywhere, at every level. We have unions committing, out in the open, fatal mistakes that make headlines.

I am going to be neither humble, nor gracious, nor moderated about this. November 2 is going to be Little Big Horn. They’re going to cheat and steal, and we’re still going to annihilate them.

And when we’re done I (and a whole, whole BUNCH of people with me) am going to agitate very loudly and insistently for conservatives to clean house on the party, and then clean Obama’s house, then clean out unions and bureaucracies.

Lots and lots and lots of people need to go to jail for what the Democrats are doing right now.

  • shadowtax

I do not believe that an affair happened at all. I believe that the issue here is the vulgar political hit. The circumstances matter. Vile attacks like this will not stop unless the perpetrators are exposed and ostrasized. You cannot simply ignore attacks like this and hope they go away.

If you want disciplined campaign debate you must be prepared to punish those that break the rules of the debate.

  • redtillimdead

Make sure more people hear than if he just breaks it here.

Following the Sestak story, the TERRIBLE response to the oil spill, and then this (highly unlikely though) would be a great 3rd strike against him…

I’d prefer to get the teaser and know progress is being made. We can wait. We are conservatives. Instant gratification nice, but not required.

Someone behind Will Folks came out with this lying hit job to grab headlines away from Sestakgate.

In the meantime let?s send it in for Nikki!

Oops, forgot–that’s only when the “personal matter” involves a Democrat.

  • Josh Painter
  • Adjoran

NOT Barrett – Folks tried to point at his campaign several times already. That was a diversion. Not McMaster, either – as AG he knows better, and he came out to not only strongly deny any involvement, but to say he doesn’t believe it and point out that Folks is known for false rumors.

That leaves the one guy who has said NOTHING since the scandal broke. Maintained a low profile, kept his same ads running, but no press conference for him. Why miss the free exposure?

Andre Bauer. He’s got the money, the motivation, and is more friendly with Folks than most SC pols.

… I’ve seen his name involved as well as someone higher on the GOP food chain that might have wanted to hurt both Haley and Palin for political reasons. Someone who backs Bauer.

I don’t want to put the name here since it is strictly a rumor, but you might already know who I’m talking about anyway.

  • E Pluribus Unum

Not that others in certain Dem quarters might not stand to gain here, and may have been involved.

  • E Pluribus Unum

I mean, I don’t know when he had the time, between pointing the hurricane to New Orleans, helping Halliburton invade Iraq for oil (so we wouldn’t need those pesky deepwater wells), dodging the draft, personally ghost writing Bob Novak’s column that outed super-spy Valery Wilson, waterboarding terrorists tourists, and snooping on cell phone calls.

But one thing I know to a moral certainty. George W Bush is responsible.

    To go with the Popcorn

    8 oz good Tequila
    4 oz Cointreau
    4 scoops good lime sherbet
    Good Margarita mix
    Ice cubes

Measure Tequila and Cointreau into blender
    Add sherbet
    Add enough ice to top
    Finish with Margarita Mix.

Place lid on tightly and turn on.
    Pulse until blended.
    Enjoy

To toot my own horn, I picked Bauer a few days ago. It fits his MO. One of his lieutenants (henchmen) outed Sanford and kept pushing hardest for Sanford to resign, which would have elevated Bauer from Lt. Governor to Governor.

  • joayn

and make the announcement. Ooooooh, the drama!

  • conservativecrusade

and you will see where I said unproven claims need to be answered. My issue is not with demanding all those making the accusations give us proof, or even going after the record and honesty of the person making the claims. My issue is with the constant rehashing of this matter and the waste of time dwelling on Folks. It is not doing a thing to prove this matter one way or the other, and it is not furthering Nikki’s cause or the states image. We all know Folks is a turd and this matter was pushed out on the public in a classless way. What those who support Nikki need to do is only challenge this whole matter when new claims are made with no proof, and other than that leave it alone. It would be better to spend the time it took to write this and the effort spent to keep this trashy matter in the public eye by writing about the positives of Nikki.

Quite frankly most in the state do not hold Folks in high regard. But announcing things without proof, even if it is fun to do Folks that way, is no different than what he did. And it keeps this whole issue in the view of those undecided. Keep it up and they will reject Nikki just because they have had enough of the whole matter.

There are many many people is SC who have no idea who Folks is. Until last week, I had no idea.

The truth is that this is news to a lot of people. Now many people know only one thing about Nikki Haley. If we ignore the story it lingers. We need to kill it. Dishonor it. Decisively. Then focus on a strong message for the close

Nobody’s stopping you from writing about the positives of Nikki. Go right ahead. I would rather defend her honor than her candidacy. That’s just me.

If you can’t be trusted to be faithful to your spouse, well, what can you be trusted for? My general stance is that I will not vote or support an adulterer, regardless of party. John Ensign and David Vitter should have resigned, just as Bill Clinton should have.

but that is still not the point. This entire thread was designed to play games and imitate what Folks has said on his site. It is not defending her honor, that was done long ago. It is simply another thread with a ton of responses which basically say, “we can do it too Folks, see look” and ‘lets trash Folks as much as possible by suggesting we have proof too!” What in hells fire does this accomplish but allow all the SC people that come on here to dwell yet again on the whole fiasco but yet still do not get an answer on if it happened or not.

We knew Clinton screwed Lewinski and we knew he lied about it. He was guilty and proven guilty. But by the time it was over, after all the attacks on him, the attacks on his wife, the thousands of stories on in, people started to view him as the victim. Same applies here. Keep putting out these nonsense posts/threads that have nothing in them but “look at the idiot Folks”, by the time it is over no one will care did she or did she not, they will simply be disgusted with all the nonsense and vote with someone else.

If Nikki does not find it worthy to defend, why do we need to keep harping on it. And if Nikki does not feel the need to ever mention Folks name, why do we? They say proof will be here soon, lets wait and see? If he opens his mouth, we go after what he says. But until that happens, let it die. Because there are people in here who are still undecided about who to vote for in the primary and the eventual runoff, they see the nonsense in here and the other sites, they do not vote for her and that would be a shame. And this is coming from a McMaster supporter who wants to see Nikki get every vote she would have if this was never brought up.

He did some advance work for Romney in the state in 2008.

Wes Donehue is a political consultant in SC, and according to Will Folks, works for the Gresham Barrett campaign.

In the list of “text messages” released (I use quotes because, for all I know, they could be made up), Donehue appears to be trying to get Folks to go public with the “story”. Tim Pearson, Nikki Haley’s campaign manager, appears to be Folks’ contact on the campaign. Jim Davenport is also listed as a reporter for the Associated Press.

Reading the “text messages” as a whole do not show evidence of an affair. There are statements that could be interpreted more than one way, and there are gaps in the conversation that could provide context to what is being said. These gaps stand out like red flags.

Personally, I believe Folks thinks (mistakenly) that he is trying to pull something very clever here. But I suspect he will wind up facing some jail time for the fraud he is perpetrating, and certainly a civil lawsuit.
