Nikki Haley Doubles Down on Truth

From the Political Wire, we learn Nikki Haley will resign if the allegations against her are proven true.

Host: “If something comes out after you win the primary, or after you win the general election become South Carolina’s next governor, if something were to come out that validates the claims that have been made against you — in terms of stepping out on your husband and on your marriage — would you resign as governor because basically the way you’ve handled it has been an absolute, 100 percent denial? Would you resign or would it be dragged out?

Haley: “Yes.”

Host: “Yes, you would resign?”

Haley: “Yes.”

They’ve called her a raghead. They’ve called her a wh*re. They sure as heck better start practicing calling her Governor.

Nikki can win. You can help.

Nikki’s rivals are highlighting her ethnic name : Nimrata Randhawa Haley.

Its an attempt to portray her as foreign and unchristian. Next thing, Andre Bauer will be demanding to see her birth certificate.

The question is: If it is wrong to say call Nikki Hay as Nimrata Randhawa Haley, should conservatives call out other conservatives like Ann Coulter for saying, Barack Hussein Obama?

She didn’t leave much wiggle room before and she’s left none now. But, she’s gutsy and that might get her through. I have more respect for her at this point and time than some others out there (Mark Kirk I’m talking about you. Get your head on straight!)

It is easy to be confident when you have the truth on your side.

Niki Hley didn’t have a hoard of sychophantic idiots make a song out of her name. You troll almost as well as BP caps off oil spills, but not quite.

I didn’t want to bring this up, but I have no choice. Sacred honor compels me to confess, and everyone who knows me can tell you I’m usually an honorable man:

If there were any evidence it would have been produced by now.

If the GOP is going to attract people who look like Nikki, we really need to win this one.

SC needs Nikki. It’s hard to think of a more solid candidate anywhere. If the sleazy old-school wins this one, it will be a major blow to the kind of diversity we really need: diversity of principled conservatives.

    Unequivocal and to the point.

And I agree with the above…if there was any real evidence, now would be the tactical time to show it…not after the primary.

This thing is going to be over soon.

If SC can elect Jim DeMint, surely SC can elect Nikki Haley.

I’m not one of the cool kids. I don’t get that…

  • JoeG

I don’t get the impression that anyone here cares, nor does she.

Just the same as calling the governor of LA Piyush… He’s not sensitive about it but prefers Bobby.

  • Section9

No. Seriously. But I will call Andrew Sullivan.

This weekend Huckabee is coming to SC to campaign for Andre Bauer.

Dick Cheney to do robocalls for Barrett.

Sarah Palin to do robocalls for Nikki Haley.

When we Americans finally grow up and are willing to ignore what is frankly no one’s business and if SAID BEHAVIOR IS NOT BREAKING THE LAW make what goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults off-limits, period.

The last place I want the government or the press snooping into is my love life with my wife or of my familly’s. Sarah Palin’s experience should have taught us a lesson.. Not their business, not the neighbors, not anybody’s but mie and my wife’s. Period.

You want to start getting the government out of our lives, then the first place it should start is in the “boudoir” and the home.

with 5 at the top. The rampant individualism so dear to conservative thought is frequently seen in variations on the theme. Mike (aka GC) tends to string them out horizontally in proportion to the length of his tribute; others find more arcane mathematical expressions to imply the concept of “really big number”.

You should be advised, however, that you must never use an expression containing–I gotta be careful now–the numeral “5″ followed by the division operator “/” followed by the numeral “0″. The moment anyone does that, the site will disappear until after the election, and Neil will not be a happy man during that interval.

The accusation against Haley was a very serious one, because character does matter. A lot. If a politician can’t be trusted by her spouse, how can the rest of us trust her?

I’m heartened by Haley’s firm denial. It builds confidence in her.

it will be the worst fall from grace since John Edwards.

She is either one of the stupidest politicians on the face of the earth or being 100% honest. I am going with 100% honest unless and until I am given good reason to believe otherwise.

  • http://www.bloggybayou.com muckraker

By making a person’s sexual life fair game, you leave everyone wide open to any smear. It is a Pandora’s Box.

If you think it is important one knows about a politicians love life, then you better be prepared to have yours investigated as well.

A much, much bigger fall from grace.

From the beginning, John Edwards was a predatory medical-claims ambulance chasing lawyer who made tens of millions of bucks faming false accusations against OB doctors.

I don’t think he had very far to fall.

She’s going to be an awesome Governor.

  • obladioblada

but this makes me detest him all the more. He needs to be held accountable for his candidate’s dirty, misogynist, racist campaign.

I hate to speak ill of someone who plays guitar* but … I mean, Bauer should be toxic to a national wannabe. (if tying Bush to “Brownie” is legit, and tying Obama to Blagojevich is legit, then hanging Bauer around Huckabee’s neck should be legit…)

Whoever is running intelligence for Huck seriously needs a clue-by-four upside the head…. or is Red State just *that* far ahead of the curve?

    Go Nikki Go!

    Mew

    * parses just as well as anyone who defends Huck for being a “christian” – I can prove he plays guitar, can you prove the state of his heart?

  • SteveLA

HuckaHucka never quit running last time and he will be in the mix for 2012, and he does have some level of support in the R party. He’s not going anywhere, well maybe Hometown Buffet, but that’s another thread.

  • acat

Iowa is where Huck burst onto the scene last time – and his appeal there – populist – will likely still resonate.

I have the opinion that a big percentage of his post-Romney-dropout point were protest votes against McCain, rather than actual pro-Huck… but yeah – at this point, the only way to get him to go away is massive post-Iowa losses… and I don’t see that happening.

it is impossible to believe the allegations. Since all the miscreants are directly linked to Bauer, except the one Barrett aide who used to work for Haley and was said to be pushing the story after the rumors broke, the conclusion is obvious.

The last poll was after the crap started, and she was well ahead, but that was 2 weeks before the primary. Based on anecdotal evidence – the conversations among people in my rural county where the Republican voters are very conservative and mostly Evangelicals, the consensus is Haley is telling the truth and will earn a certain amount of backlash votes. She could possibly cross the 50% threshold to avoid a runoff.

  • RedBeard

What laws or rules could we institute to prevent this sort of thing? Scumbags abound. Anyone can say anything about a political enemy, and that will never change,

The truth is the weapon to use against smears. If the truth is not on the side of the accused, then that is a problem the accused must face.

It’s not the candidate’s private love life per se that concerns me; it’s the poor character of the lying cheaters like John Edwards. Voters should know what sort of morals their elected officials possess, as those characteristics will affect the way government is run.

  • RedBeard

All the talk about the same tired crop of R candidates running again in 2012 has me very nervous. Have we learned nothing from 2008? The primary candidates who lost out to John McCain can hardly be considered possible winners now. It would be like someone who just got beaten up by PeeWee Herman being put up for a heavyweight title bout.
