RedState Gathering 2010

In 2009, rising conservative stars Nikki Haley and Marco Rubio appeared at the RedState Gathering along with Pat Toomey, Roy Blunt, Michael Williams, Ted Cruz, and others.

The benefit of a RedState Gathering is pretty simple — candidates who show up pay their own way and commit to hanging out, not just talking down to you from a stage.

It’s cheap. It’s grassroots. It’s a real commitment from candidates and politicians to get to know you, the grassroots.

This year, from September 17th to 19th, we’re going to do it all over again. This year, we’re going to include some activist training from American Majority, some quality down time for RedStaters to hang out, and some stellar candidates.

Come join us in Austin, TX as we mock the hippies, improve our activist fighting skills, and see each other face to face.

to attend, because of the media circus that invariably results, but this time I’ll make an exception.

    I’ll be there.y

There are MUCH better cities in Texas that are much more conservative-leaning. I know you probably already have everything set up and it’s too late to change plans, but in the future if you want to hold an event in Texas, let us Texans know, and we can direct you to some other cities……

Lots of conservatives there. The big cities here in Texas are moving leftist. If it moved to The Woodlands, it would only be a 6 mile drive from my apartment in Spring. If it wasn’t for the fact that the county sheriff uses 287g, I’d ask him not to move it to Houston. I would like a shorter drive.

For all you who haven’t considered attending yet, give it some thought. I made friends last year who I still talk to regularly, met two of my heroes, and drank a beer with this guy who–wouldn’t ya know it–I saw on CNN the other day!

    I’ll be there :)

Call me paranoid, but I don’t like to enter credit card info via http links.

Due to health issues, it’s difficult for my gf to deal with airline flights (air pressure differential, pressurized cabins seem to never be sufficiently pressurized), and 900+ miles one way Atlanta -> Austin is just too long to drive.

Have fun everyone, I definitely enjoyed last year’s get-together.

  • Achance

I’d like to be there, but I suspect there’ll be some serious negotiation with SWMBO about it.

  • Christine (Trelaina)

Couldn’t go last year due to timing, but this year I will be there!

With a Direct flight from ANC-IAH on Continental. I’d like to only have to drive 6 miles to The Woodlands. BTW, do you have $29,500 that you can spare, because there is a nice Cherokee 140/160 for sale that I like. Nice plane. I guess that’s what I get for looking at Trade-A-Plane.

  • Achance

to whatever the ANC-IAH fare is.

  • satchman3

The best thing about Austin is that you can drive 20 miles in any direction and be back in Texas.

I look forward to reading the updates and watching the videos again!

    Erick,
I have tried to sign up for a week, oday for two hours.
I am concerned that you are not getting the number of registrants that you might if this was working.

Usually I get “page not found” but the last time I made it all the way through the credit information, clicked on I’m finished and nothing happened as far as a verification of any kind. Then I was timed out!

I tried to do it again risking double billing, page not fund again. My husband and I would really like to come as well as several friends. Could you please help??
PS Is Dan Perrin coming?? Whereever he is please tell him that he is missed here and we would love to see him at the Gathering!

    • It’s been in the works for months, long before the silly boycotts
    • Boycotts are silly, childish, and passive aggressive.
    • We will go to Austin and be conservatives and Republicans. Out loud, in public.
    • And if they don’t like it, well, I hope they don’t do anything … confrontational.
    • Next year, I hope it’s some other hippie-infested capitol of communist Birkenstockistan like Madison, Santa Fe, or East Lansing.

I’m not rolling in the stuff myself, but let’s see what happens to sweeten the pitch to your event planner.

    Erick,

    Austin? Have a good time.

    San Antonio? Sign me up!

I could not think of a better time than spending a few days with great Americans on the River Walk, The Alamo, and a city that deserves the presence of great people. If you’re looking to make a difference it won’t happen in Austin.

Two Nevada residents will not support an Arizona boycott.

If you change your mind… I would love to spend my birthday in San Antonio.

  • Richard Mullins

and it’s $917 w/o fees and taxes. That’s expensive so might want to get a friend with a Cessna 310,Beech Baron or another good Twin Prop to get you to ANC.

  • ObamaNo

I live just north of Austin and can’t wait. Word needs to get out in Austin though ‘cus it will drive the local liberals crazy knowing so many conservatives will all be gathered in one place – in downtown, no less.

  • BooBooKitty

    I’ll be there.

  • cactusjack

the conservative minority needs the occasional support. The boycott AZ thing was a bust, yesterday’s news, everybody knows it. The liberals didn’t create the delightful Hill Country in which Austin is located, God did. The libs just moved there cuz it was so purdy (like San Francisco). The weather will be pleasant in September in Austin, breeze in from the West – better than Houston’s or Dallas’ late summer. The hippies are not the Abbie Hoffman type, they are generally more laid back and amusing – their politics tending toward the…well, interstellar – and if you see one in a red bandana, look closely it may be Willie Nelson. The music, food…outstanding. Live in one of those bigger conservative cities, but Hook Em Horns, go Austin for this.

  • Achance

It is 88 miles one way. Call that 88 gallons of gas at $3.29/gal = $289.52 each way! The fast ferry is $50 each way and a hotel was $89/nt. so, $456 to take the ferry and stay in the hotel v. $579.04 just for the gas with the boat and I could pray nothing broke or the weather didn’t turn bad and keep me up there for days.

Suspect the math on that Beach Baron would be about the same.

  • fiftycaltx

Remember, Texas recognizes 30 some odd other states concealed handgun licenses. And if you are downtown with the panhandlers and homeless drug addicts, it’s a good thing to be armed.

BTW, I’m in Austin. You need some boots on the ground, let me know.

  • Richard Mullins

better in some ways than my 1962 Cherokee that I fly. I think at best it’s 6.3 gph. At a good cruise of 140 mph, that should take awhile. What’s 100 LL going for up in Alaska? $5.00 a gal with Landing fees? or is it more? Hot diggity dog, the FBO at PAJN says that it’s $5.20 a gal. Not to bad, although if you want economical, a CTLS LSA burns 3 gals an hour and can use 91 or better octane unleaded. The FBO at ANC have 100 LL even cheaper. I must say it’s nice.

  • Richard Mullins

even drive him from Bush Intercontinental in my truck, so I’ve done quite a lot. The cost from JNU-IAH around that time is still the same as it was when I first checked it in March, $735.50 with Taxes and fees at the lowest end. Not bad, far less expensive than IAH-ANC on Continental, Non Stop or with Stops.

  • Richard Mullins

although the thought of a 6 mile drive isn’t all that bad. I wouldn’t need a Hotel then. It’s all good and whether it’s Austin or Somewhere else in Texas(key thing, I don’t want to fly unless I have to) is the best.

  • teresakoch

Us Aggies don’t take kindly to hippies….

I understand about the need to keep it in Austin, as plans have already been made. Give ‘em hell!

Redstate Gathering 2010 I hope that works for you and it secure, although it give WOT(Web of Trust) fits.

As a long-time resident of Austin, active conservative, and now candidate for State Representative (Texas house, district 50), I am thrilled to have Redstate’s conference come to town. Redstate is the heartbeat of America’s future conservatism, and I know you will put together a great event. I look forward to being a part of it and rolling out the welcome mat to the guests.

Come and have a great time here in Austin.

    Patrick McGuinness,
candidate for State Representative, Texas House district 50

PS. Don’t mind the silly boycott, which btw is meaningless because the City wont cancel any of its Arizona’s contacts anyway. That’s our City Council doing the politically correct proggie fetish thing, statement without substance, sticking its noses in other people’s business while not taking care of real business.

  • http://patmcguinness.org Patrick McGuinness

Seen on a Texas bumperstick tonight:

    I’m from Texas,
    What Country are YOU from?

  • Richard Mullins

What it does isn’t much of an effect on things, besides Most of Police Chiefs hate the AZ law but our Dem Sheriff here in Harris county is keeping the 287(g) program for the jail and improving on it. I think I have a higher respect for Adrian Garcia now than I did in 2008. I was sort of worried a having a Ralph Lopez(Corrupt former sheriff of Bexar County). So far,so good. BTW, good luck in the General and I hope you part of Texas House of Representatives with my State Rep. Debbie Riddle.

I changed my mind–que sera, sera. We intend to have a good time, too.

    see you there my friend.
