Taxpayer Funded Abortions Come to Florida

Media headlines are saying Charlie Crist’s veto of pro-life legislation is a veto about women receiving ultrasounds before electing to have an abortion.

That’s actually only part of the legislation. With Crist’s veto there is more. Taxpayer funded elective abortions are coming to Florida for the first time.

Recent federal health care legislation gave states the opportunity to opt-out of federal provisions using tax dollars to be used to subsidize insurance plans that fund elective abortions. Provisions to ensure taxpayer dollars were not used to pay for elective abortions were contained in HB 1143, and tens of thousands of Floridians, including U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-Florida)-who was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Crist- Attorney General Bill McCollum and Crist’s Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp asked for Crist to sign those measures.

Not only that, the legislation streamlined the Florida Agency For Healthcare Administration, saving taxpayers in Florida over a million dollars. Crist’s veto undoes that and drives up the tax bills for voters.

I guess he doesn’t want to position himself as fiscally responsible either.

I told you people he was a liberal.

Yes, he’s a liberal, but that takes second position to him being a self-serving political animal, hungry only for power and prestige, and willing to do anything to keep those things.

Luckily for us, he’s also a rather stupid man, and has shot himself in the foot. People can easily see through his little charades. Shameless triangulating only works for smart and slick politicians like Bill Clinton, and usually fails with the less intelligent ones.

Note to Charlie: We see you.

Making the whole of a state pay for your one night too many of sex and fun, is like being the designated driver but having to pay for all the drinks. I’m female, but I’m also responsible for my actions, time that those who want to have a good time start paying for their mistakes and quit expecting everyone around them to take care of their problems.

Can you imagine if McCain had picked Crist?

Florida is a right-of-center state and hasn’t voted D in too many elections. I can’t imagine the motive of Governor Crist except that maybe he wanted to poke his finger in the eye of conservatives by this move. Whatever his reasons, this was a politically stupid move on his part. That senate office in D.C. is getting further and further from his grasp.

…hoping for Democratic cross-overs and worshippers of his cult of personality to carry him through, I guess. Why else would he tack so far leftwards.

    OVER-RIDE (eh, maybe that’s two words…)

What an idiot. If the people of Florida elect this goon to the Senate, then we are surely lost as a nation. RUBIO! RUBIO! RUBIO!

I heard he was back in 1998 and then shifted to where he needed to be to win. What a pathetic loser.

but I seriously doubt Christ is. In fact, he’s pro-eternal-life.

Liberals, at least the TBs, have some semblance of guiding principles. The closes thing he’s got to that is an ego. He’s an opportunist. Nothing more, nothing less.
