The Tim Bridgewater Attack On Jim DeMint Continues

Tim Bridgewater’s supporters have set up and are pushing a website called the “Jim DeMint Takeover.”

It contains just one post.

It is a YouTube of Mike Lee, who is asked, “If you are elected as the new Senator from Utah, who will be your mentor and why?”

Mike Lee’s response?

“My mentor in the senate and among those who are still in the world of the living will be Jim Demint in whose endorsement I am pleased to have and who hails from South Carolina and who is an advocate of constitutionally limited government, and as I say the two of us together will build a coalition that will one day control the US Senate, to limit the size, scope, reach and cost of the federal government.”

And the Bridgewater people hold this in contempt? What is wrong with these people?

Oh yeah. They think Jim DeMint is going to use Mike Lee to allow nuclear waste from South Carolina to be deposited in Utah. Of course even not so smart people know we’re sticking it in Nevada if Harry Reid gets re-elected.

Tim Bridgewater continues to flat out lie about Jim DeMint to avoid having to talk about his own record.

Support Mike Lee and defend Jim DeMint.

Okay someone supporting Bridgewater has said something about Jim DeMint. What exactly does Tim Bridgewater have to do with this? One of Mike Lee’s supporters is peddling stories about Bridgewater dealing with Mexican Drug lords. For all anyone really knows Lee’s supporters are saying other strange things about Tim Bridgewater.

    Its all hearsay and guessing.

Yet here we see a post about what a supposed supporter of Tim Bridgewater is saying but then Erick quickly adds “Tim Bridgewater continues to lie”–where is that idea supported in this post. Continues to lie implies an action and I don’t see it.

are in this for themselves and special interests. Although Bridgewater claims his life is a cinderella/rags to riches story, in my view his business life is filled with securing money from taxpayers to pay for projects outside of the US….

Is there ANY reason other than that to oppose him?

  • StandardCandle

I don’t recall a SINGLE Mike Lee campaign staffer coming on to Redstate to bash Tim Bridgewater….

but we can’t seem to get enough of former Eagar bots, and Bridgewater bots coming here to make waves and trash Mike Lee suggesting he’s playing dirty politics…

Erick writes what he learns about Bridewater, he also writes about several other candidates from several other races outside of the state of Utah…

The fact is… Bridgewater’s campaign and his minions have proven to bad mouth a true patriot like Jim DeMint… and we don’t take kindly to wankers that go about smearing one of our heroes just because he endorsed the other guy in the race… and called out for an investigation into a possible breach of campaign election law.

Just making the argument that not much else matters when you have a choice between a conservative that wants smaller government… and some would be “republican” that would keep the benefit of Bennett’s legacy moving along.

Have you not seen the flyers Bridgewater has sent out attacking DeMint? The were pretty darn blatant. Showing South Carolina, and insinuating that DeMint is only supporting Mike Lee because they want to dump their waste in Utah. It was blatant, and false.

How does Bridgewater ever think he would have a chance of working with the Conservatives in the Senate after this? He’ll fit in great with the RINO’s and Progressives, but he’ll be an outcast with the conservatives.

I have watched Tim for over a year, and I believe he is the best US Senate candidate in the primary. Tim’s attitude and methods and his actions have impressed me. Words alone are not enough.

    Either way, vote today.

Senator DeMint has a good reputation as a senator.

Why he would have got involved using a flyer that Bridgewater didn?t send out to fundraise for Mike Lee is beyond reason

For two online versions of what DeMint caused:

    http://smartgirlpolitics.ning.com/profiles/blogs/breaking-news-on-utah-senate

    http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs096/1102115604578/archive/1103454066628.html

Saddle PAC (last current tie to the “temple flyer” was going after both Lee and Bridgewater prior to convention. Pretty Low to try to smear Bridgewater with that and even lower to try to fundraise with the smear.

Okay, tasteless humor aside, there is a point here – almost anyone can claim to be a “republican” – just parrot enough of the stock answers, sidestep the questions, and blam – you’re in the club.

It’s why Conservatives, at the end of the day, need to have parallel infrastructure to that of the GOP – at least in part.

When the primaries roll around and there’s a good (and well vetted) but underfunded conservative in the mix, up against a squishy self-funded RINO with connections, the conservative has a chance to get his (or, more often this year, her) message out.

Erick, you are so blinded by your hatred of Tim Bridgewater, you haven’t even looked at the problem being created by the attack on Tim by an organization called Common Sense Issues. They are located at 8190-A Beechmont Ave. #103, Cincinnati, OH 45255-6117. Phone Number 719-216-6232. They are a 501c4 Social Welfare organization under the IRS Code. http://www.irs.gov/charities/nonprofits/article/0,,id=96178,00.html . Unfortunately they are also violating that same code by trying to influence the outcome of an election!

This is a lobbyist research group that has dug up any facts they think are factual on Tim and turned them into attack ads. They are spending over $200,000 on TV, radio, internet and print ads in these last two weeks of the campaign before the primary election.

So why would an organization that has nothing to do with Utah spend a small fortune to make sure that Tim Bridgewater does not win? Easy answer, they want Mike Lee to win. Why? What is the offset for the huge expenditures? Who gave them the funding for the expenditures? There is really only one possible answer at this time, Energy Solutions. The same company that Mike has done legal work for, the same company that has poured huge amounts of campaign contributions into Bob Bennett’s and Jim Demint’s campaign war chests. Why Jim Demint? Because he represents South Carolina where there is a very large invested interest by Energy Solutions. Now Mike Lee may not be behind this attack campaign by an outside lobbyist group, but he will surely benefit from the results of it. Then you must ask, will he be indebt to Energy Solutions a company that he has done a lot of work for?

Erick, you really need to get all of the story and see the whole picture before you start attacking yourself! You are not a Utah expert, you live in Georgia. Do you want us to start telling you about Georgia politics? Glenn Beck put it best yesterday when he said they needed to stop talking to the local race candidates because in twenty minutes they don’t know enough to make good judgment. We live here, we do know and we will make the choice without being swayed by the out of state attackers like Common Sense Issues, Energy Solutions and you!

Tomorrow, after the election is over, Utah and the conservatives here will rally behind the winner of this primary and place a new senator in congress in January. A senator that will join a group of other freshmen senators and congressmen arriving to return our republic to its greatness. You and the other special interest groups need to stay out of the way so that the agenda is one of returning our country to the global leader without any apologies and free of lobbyist controlled legislature and heavy special interest influences.

For Mr. Bridgewater, words clearly are not enough. He needs words, lies, and slime.

  • http://www.plumbbobblog.com Plumb_Bob

You have one fact: some organization spending money. On that basis, and that basis alone, you say there is only one possible source of funding for it? What a crock! How do you know it’s not a tea party front? How do you know it’s not a Soros front attempting to pick a weaker candidate to run against in the general? How do you know it’s not some other right- or left- national planning organization, of the sort that are forming all over the nation to affect the balance of votes in Congress?

No. To your conspiracy-addled mind, without a single stick of evidence, it HAS TO BE a front for Energy Solutions. And having made that leap, of course it’s not trouble at all to accuse a leading Senator of graft, again without a stitch of evidence.

Tell me, son: how do you manage to avoid crumpling the tin foil covering your head when you sleep at night?

When you actually discover some evidence, come on back and present it. We’re not interested in your fervid conspiracy theories.

  • howienorton

The information is copied and pasted direct from the Common Sense Issues website. I just showed what they acknowledge.

  • howienorton

Obviously you don’t know what you are talking about or can retain what you have read.

Bennett and DeMint were the two largest recipients of campaign contributions by Energy Solutions. Fact.

You don’t know either Mike Lee or Tim Bridgewater. I have met each of them and talked extensively with them as a Utah State Republican delegate.

I am not your son, I know who my father is and it sure isn’t you! In fact I am probably older than you.

This sleeping with tin foil must be a personal item with you, I use it for the BBQ.

As for evidence, your blog seems to rely on cut and paste and linking of other people’s efforts more than original thought. I like to personally verify things before I print them and when I can’t, I do say that it appears not that it is. I hope you have another job other than your blog.

As for the responses I have seen on Red State, I am convinced that there are a lot of people a lot more concerned about other people’s political standing in other states than their own state’s political races. Maybe some positive work towards helping change in your states would go a lot further than telling the rest of the country what their business is and what they should do about it. 6 out of 13 Congressional Seats in Georgia are Democrats. 1 out of 3 in Utah is and it looks like it will go Republican in November. You take care of your problems, we’ll take care of ours. Remember they are elected as representatives of each state. We dropped Bennett without the need of outside help. We can replace without the outside help also.
