EDITOR OF REDSTATE

This is Like Season 4 of 24, But With the Economy Instead of Terrorism

In Season 4 of the television show 24, President John Keeler is on Air Force One as it is blown out of the sky. Under the 25th amendment, power transfers to the Vice President, Charles Logan.

But Logan is unable to deal with the demands of national security, so his Chief of Staff convinces him to bring former President David Palmer back to handle all the national security issues.

Well, 24 has become reality. Except instead of terrorism and stray nukes we’re talking the economy. Barack Obama brought back Bill Clinton to handle the economy.

President Obama summoned former President Bill Clinton and business leaders to the White House on Wednesday to talk about how to improve the nation’s employment situation, on the same day that the administration released a report alleging that their $862 billion stimulus has saved roughly three million jobs.

The meeting with Clinton was announced mid-morning on Wednesday and was yet another sign that Obama is worried by the increasing perception that his policies — particularly the regulatory regimes created by the health care and financial regulation legislation — are anti-business and are having a negative impact on the economy.

Obama and Clinton met with Honeywell CEO David Cote, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, Centerbridge Partners Managing Principal Mark Gallogly, Johnson Controls VP David Myers, Hannon Armstrong CEO Jeff Eckel, and Ameresco executive VP David Anderson.

Let’s see here . . . if they are taking cues from 24, next season we should see Barack Obama involved in an international incident with the Russians that doesn’t end so well. Kind of like the whole Russian spy business happening the day after Obama took Putin’s puppet to Ray’s Hell Burger.

Oh, I guess we’re running seasons together now.

By the way, I thought businesses had no problem with Obama. Why then does he need Bill Clinton?

Running out of scapegoats or something?

Interesting that the business leaders in Obamas meeting today are heavily involved in energy related projects implementation and financing, primarily conservation, efficiency and renewables…. Guess His Idiocy is just convinced that his green economy is going to save the nation.. I’m sure these business leaders have visions of green as well, although it may be green cash that they’re thinking about..?? God help us.

He cannot improv, he always needs that damn prompter, and when he does study the script he cannot remember two lines in a row before going ah, ah….

He cannot hold an eye line and his body language is all wrong for someone who is supposed to be the leader of the free world….

For god’s sake get me Morgan Freeman, now that guy can act like a real President.

  • NeoKong

    I feel better already.
Maybe they will sue Microsoft again.
It worked so good last time.

They have a lot in common.
They both promised to cut taxes and then raised them.
    One was impeached.
    One might get impeached.
They both appointed Attorney Generals who are incompetent and don’t seem to like the law much.
They both know how to raise a lot of untraceable cash.

Afghanistan to Gen Petraeus, Russia to Hillary C linton, the economy to Bill Clinton, President Toonces can focus on the things he does well– buying ice cream, wearing mandals, getting on and off planes, holding barbecues and parties and of course, playing golf.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to give him his own reality show where he pretends to be President and Michelle pretends to be First Lady? At least it would be entertaining.

Clinton was called in and Stupak got a quid pro quo job offer. What ever happened to that?

Just shows you how ‘deep’ Obama’s bench is.

…Obama won’t let him do it.

…it was the Gingrich Revolution Republicans who jammed fiscal restraint down Bubba’s throat while he was jamming his….uh, you know.

Unfortunately, those GOP folks were rapidly corrupted by D.C. in a few short years and they drove real conservatives away, setting the stage for the Dubya-Obozo Decade of Profligacy and multi-trillions in debt in the hopes of buying votes. But for a brief while, they were solid and responsible and, of course, the media handed all the kudos to the Big He.

Even if The Zero, er, One decided to try and fake triangulation, the Reid-Pelosi cabal are too committed to dragging the country off the left cliff before they’re turned out, so he’s either going to have to start vetoing giant spending bills – killing off what little remains of his hardcore statist base – or he’s going to go down with them and lose in a landslide, if he even tries to run.

what does Clinton get out of this
just a chance to play President again and feel important
these two go hand in hand

I am real surprised he would go out of his way to help Obummer
news recently came out about how Obummer may have stolen the election from Hillary…the new Black Panther case
too bad Chelsea is not getting married this weekend or is she???

  • fotophun

the Dems are on their way to eating each other alive

I thought Obummer was going to bring us all together and we were all going to sing Kum Ba Yah
As far as I can see this Pretender in Chief is setting back Civil Rights

they finally have one of their own in the White House and they still are not happy

Let’s assume the stimulus package save 3,000,000 jobs. If that’s true, the cost to the nation to save each job was $287,333.33. Even with a 50% overhead rate, that’s $142,666.67 salary per job saved. It does not take a freakin’ genius to figure out that there were not 3 million $142K jobs saved.

Back to my original statement. If the stimulus package was that “successful”, what an absolutely inefficient way save anything. What an absolute ludicrous claim by the Idiot in Chief’s administration.

Can you imagine what could have been created if taxes were slashed by an equal amount?

  • SG_Lominac

    (1) Annihilate our national security apparatus, most prominently the military. Great savings and the next republican President can take the fallout of a weakened state.

    (2) Lose the Congress to the republicans. Great savings there as the republicans can axe some of the more idiotic lefty programs. Done deal.

    (3) Have an astronomical internet bubble whereas worthless companies are worth 150 dollars a share and the accompanying tax receipts fall right into your lap. OK, maybe this one isn’t repeatable.

  • Ausonius

You are quite right about the Gingrich Congress helping Clinton.

I was driven nuts back then by otherwise intelligent people saying: “He’s doing a good job with the economy.”

No, HE was not, especially when one recalls that he wanted economy-killing Hell-th Care back in 1993.

But MAObama – I do not believe in the incompetence theory – ideologically wants capitalism destroyed, so that a socialist “planned” economy can be imposed by D.C.

Why therefore call in Clinton at all? AgitProp, and the illogical persistence of Clinton as somebody whose advice we would want.

  • okiejim

The old Arab saying “keep your friends close and your enemy’s closer” comes to mind. Obama knows Hillary is going to challenge him in 2012. What better way to keep her under control than to keep Bill close at hand.

  • romeg

That’s a paltry $287,333 per job. How does the President expect anyone to get by on THAT?

  • http://theminorityreportblog.com Repair_Man_Jack

The remaining 240 or so gets peed down a rat-hole. He is creating or saving jobs at a 400+% wrap-rate. If a defence contractor tried to pull that sh_t, some Congress-Idiot would be yammering about $600 toilet seats on jet-fighters.

  • From ME to You

during the Clinton administration Bubba should advise TheOne™ to campaign for more Democrat candidates thereby ensuring a Republican controlled Congress! ;-) )

It’s like Joe Kernan of CNBC’s Squawk Box said yesterday morning:

Obama claims that by adding 30 million people to a health insurance program paid for by their fellow taxpayers that the country will SAVE money. If that is the case we should add the rest of the world and save TRILLIONS!

You just have to understand Liberal Math. Under Liberalism (they prefer the word Progressive but Progressive has about as much to do with politics as Gay has to do with Homosexuality but I digress) the fundamental laws of the sciences are different. In the Liberal Dimension, CO2 causes global warming. But in the REAL universe, on the planet Mars, whose atmosphere is 80% CO2, the stuff precipitates out of the atmosphere and freezes on the ground.

Same way with their laws of mathematics. Taking money out of the economy and using it to subsidize unemployment actually creates MORE jobs than leaving it in the economy. By this logic, unemployment could be solved altogether by simply raising tax rates on everyone that IS working and extending benefits indefinitely for those who are NOT working.

It’s so simple, even a Cave Man could do it.

  • vamoose

According to Nancy Pelosi it would stimulate the economy more to NOT save the job and let the displaced workers collect unemployment benefits which,

“…is one of the biggest stimuluses to our economy….. It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.”

Why settle for merely saving jobs when you can create them the Pelosi way?

  • http://theminorityreportblog.com Repair_Man_Jack

    you get the singularity! :)

  • renny

that took $13 trillion in paper assets out of the markets and our pockets. The country really can afford something like that happening again. The DOW would be 5000.

Bill did nothing for the economy except campaign on it against Bush I, due to the laser focus of Carville. Maybe O should get the Ragin’ Cajun instead of his tutoree.
