Members of the Media Plotted To Shut Down Coverage of Jeremiah Wright

It is as we all suspected.

It was the moment of greatest peril for then-Sen. Barack Obama’s political career. In the heat of the presidential campaign, videos surfaced of Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, angrily denouncing whites, the U.S. government and America itself. Obama had once bragged of his closeness to Wright. Now the black nationalist preacher’s rhetoric was threatening to torpedo Obama’s campaign.

The crisis reached a howling pitch in mid-April, 2008, at an ABC News debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Gibson asked Obama why it had taken him so long – nearly a year since Wright’s remarks became public – to dissociate himself from them. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?”

Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. “George [Stephanopoulos],” fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is “being a disgusting little rat snake.”

Others went further.

is that this story will be ignored too.

I think my jaw cannot drop any lower after seeing a presidential candidate put a “white folks greed runs a world in need” quotation into his I-wanna-be-president book, and the media totally ignores it. I’m just numb.

  • JadedByPolitics

because they TAKE their news talking points from a LOT of those journolisters in that article. It is OUR job to get this going far and wide across the internet and to get Beck, Hannity, Rush, Levin talking about it. WE will FORCE the media to talk about it. I would also suggest a Congressional inquiry when Republicans retake the House because when the “media” conspire to elect a President that is ILLEGAL!

Is this btw someone having sold the journolist? Will this be just the first in a series of stories? OMG the drip, drip, drip of these stories would be AWESOME.

this would seem to serve as “in kind political donations” that should run into illegal and obscene electioneering by all involved media members & their networks/publications. I’d think the fines could put most of them out of business.

In any event, congressional investigations should start right after the January, 2011 installation of new members.

    Erick,
I’ve mentioned to you before in an e-mail and at the Redstate Gathering that we (RNC?) need a media plan to combat the media.

We can give Nicki Haley or Karen Handel a million dollars, but if the MSM is collaborating like we know/think they are, it will be 5 million in hit job, slander against them.

Obama had between 3.5—5 billion in free positive PR in 2008 and still enjoys their cover with slandering and lies of Tea Party.

They’re going to call us racists, lie about us and run with every single unsubstantiated rumors (but will sit on John Edwards-like scandals complete with photo evidence).

Let’s start a media campaign against the media in public, on their own networks (local TV news Ad buys), in newspapers, and on billboards.

A few thousand dollars media buy turns into several hundred thousand views with Youtube and a viral e-mail camapign.

This could be our September Surprise——before they conspire with the DNC for the much expected October surprise.

If we don’t start going on offense then they will do whatever they want with their nightly 20 million viewers, and that’s not counting the morning shows that are hours upon hours of lies and bias.

    They do it every day
They are doing it right now today.
It’s not their job so much as to report the news as it is to contain the news.
    It’s policy.
They do not report news that is bad for Obama.
    Period.
I could make a list of all the stories they have sat on but it would take all day.
    The media is corrupt.
It really is the state run media now.

  • smitch61

Is that I am not surprised. Every single day there is something.. and every single day the msm does not cover it.

  • throwback59

    story as I write this.

As to “Stephie’s” question: “Do you think Rev. Wright loves America as much as you do?” Yes, I believe Wright feels exactly the same amount of love for this country as Obama does.

  • smagar

I could make a list of all the stories they have sat on but it would take all day.

Let’ s put them out there, for everyone to see.

The longer the list is, the harder it will be for the MSM to starve ALL of them of oxygen.

They?ll still call you a typical bitter God-clinging gun-owning racist hate-monger, but the pile against the entire administration keeps getting bigger.

One of ?em may notice ‘a bit of a problem’ sooner or later??. Most likely that will happen when they get that 3am bashing-in of their door telling them they live in too big a home and their place has just been given to a large family less fortunate.

    ..,in the article:

In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama?s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama?s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, ?Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares ? and call them racists.?

    Gosh, that sounds familiar. ;)

  • Common_Cents

Definitely need to put a lot of thinking into this. The half of America that vited for obamageddon doesn’t realize they were brainwashed by the media. Just think how different this country would be if the lame stream media was half way balanced. People like obamageddon wouldn’t even think to run for office.

    coverage from the weekend.

This quote from the article has been the only strategy against the tea parties. “And I think this threads the needle. If the right forces us all to either defend Wright or tear him down, no matter what we choose, we lose the game they?ve put upon us. Instead, take one of them ? Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares ? and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes *them* sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.”

The Sunday shows were saying that the current controversy about racism in the tea parties showed how relevant the NAACP still is. I was yelling at the TV. “How pathetic, you have to make up incidents to make yourself be relevant!”

The final sentence of the quote gives us a good map of where to go with this onslaught of lies. They want to keep us on the defense and fuming and keeping the topic off of the actual issues of the financial destruction of our country. Commentators on the right should just stay calm and say, “OK, anyone who disagrees with Obama’s policies is going to be labeled a racist, I get that. Are you ready for a discussion of actual issues?”

It is the most frustrating thing in the world, though, with all the evidence to the contrary to have this thrown up night after night after night and to have actual important issues ignored.

  • smagar

Now, if we’re lucky, the “respectable” MSM will try to throw MichaelTomasky, Spencer Ackerman, et.al under the bus.

Something tells me Team Ackerman won’t go quietly.

  • Mike

…that conservatives have suspected, without evidence, for decades. Glad to see Breitbart and Carlson finally getting some evidence.

And I second (or third?) the idea of having a coordinated, viral-video attack strategy for the media. Just as a suggestion, why not have people submit Youtube links to their videos, and have the blogosphere pick their favorites?

After all, the blogosphere talks to each other too :D

  • tngal

Spencer Ackerman who was with Washington Independent preceded his “call them racists” remark with:
    ____
“What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger?s [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know that it needs to live in a state of constant fear.”

He meant it rhetorically. Well, he said he did, anyway. Thanks for the Christmas card Ack,

“A black USDA official in Georgia has resigned after publicly admitting she didn’t help a white man trying to save his farm to the “full force” of her power and instead referred him to “one of his own.”

The NAACP, which recently condemned racism in tea party groups , also issued a statement Monday night saying: “Racism is about the abuse of power. Sherrod had it in her position at USDA. According to her remarks, she mistreated a white farmer in need of assistance because of his race.”

The Huffington Post said a YouTube video clip of her speech was first posted on the biggovernment.com blog and a report was then aired by Fox News.”

You know this sort of thing happens ALL the time. Wait until the death panel presiding over the question of your mother’s “quality of life” decides it doesn’t like white people either…

The biggest cover-up was the Rezko house deal. That was not an “adjacent lot” that Rezko bought.

The Obama property — all one large manicured lawn surrounded by a brick and iron fence — was subdivided as part of the sale so that Obama could purchase the house and most of the enclosed lot at a discount and Rezko purchased the second parcel at the asking price.

This was no separate lot. It was entirely fenced with no access to the street. The only access to Rezko’s property was from Obama’s yard. It was Obama’s yard.

Yet, to this day, the media has falsely portrayed this as the purchase of an “adjacent lot”.

  • pirate55

This question from our short little liberal was a SOFTBALL question, pure and simple and suggested to Obama the answer. The question should have been “How can you defend your association with an individual who has literally spent a lifetime bashing the country he lives in and derives a living in”?

The media still is confusing itself with civility and the true search for the truth.

  • http://itsaboutfreedom.proboards.com IronDioPriest

…and media malfeasance exposed this plainly, and STILL they persist, and STILL there is no massive call for media to be cleansed of such people, then the chips, really, are on the table.

We already know what the Left has been willing to do thus far in striving for control. How this is handled will give us a whole new insight into their audacity. If they are willing to overlook this – and more importantly, if the American people are unwilling to hold them accountable – then I believe that eventually, they will justify anything including covering for or justifying atrocities against humanity, in order to achieve their Leftist grip on this country.

Put it this way: a Leftist totalitarian takeover of this country cannot happen with an unbiased free press under the protection of the constitution. We have a biased press willing and eager to lie under those same protections in order to bring about that Leftist totalitarian takeover. Someone who doubts my hypothetical extrapolation, please give me your reasons why these same leftists will not ramp up the extremities to which they are willing to go in order to accomplish their goal?

because the people who own the house, or at least those who run the house, are just like these journolist writers and reporters.

There’s plenty we can do to them in the Red States. Start by changing your laws/regs about requiring public notice in newspapers. Put it all online and take away the newspapers’ steadiest source of income. Put all your state job listings and invitations to bid or submit proposals on line; there goes another revenue source. Don’t make your news in the BOWASH – LA axis of evil, nobody there votes for you. Make your pressers in your state and district and make those MSM reporters learn to regard a Holiday Inn as a luxury hotel and a Bombardier as a “big” jet.

  • The_Rebel

responded to this quote. He spent a lengthy segment of his show today commenting on this quote and more from the article from which the quote was taken.

  • Ann_W

Are you as surprised as I was that they send out Christmas cards? ;)

  • tngal

I guess we should be grateful we’re on their bloody Christmas card list. What’s next? Photos of bleeding aborted babies? A “family shot” with John and Jane and little Stewie and (almost) little baby girl Sally.

Now what did Spencer say? Oh yes, that was “rhetorical”.

and show a conspiracy among the MSM to not report this ghastly fact, which in all other circumstances would be an automatic disqualifier with the American public.

Other topics discussed by the JournoList may include the LA Times’ refusal to show the videotape of Obama toasting Rashid Khalidi.
