Me vs. Michael Steele

Someone has started a silly rumor that I will be challenging Michael Steele for RNC Chairman thanks, in part, to RedState’s tremendous win record so far this year in GOP primaries. Mixed into this rumor is the suggestion that I am somehow to be opposed because of my position on gun control.

To clear this up and stop more reporters from calling me, let me be clear: I bought my wife a shotgun for Christmas. I am a big advocate of learning how to control your gun when you mow down Disney style forest creatures and bad guys. After all, lead has gotten expensive and the more you control your gun, the less lead you’ll waste.

I hope that clears up this ridiculous rumor.

    Had not heard the rumor until saw this – but wow made me think about the possibility – hmmm….. WISH YOU WOULD RUN FOR IT Erick!!!

    Personally, in my very humble opinion, at this point in time, I beleive you have the advantage of doing a much better job supporting Conservative American/Consitutional ideas right where you are.

    For me, I want someone who is sincere-not vain glorious.

    I told my mom today to use wasp spray on the neighbors dogs….bullets are too expensinve to waste!
    I cant think of anyone better then Eric for the RNC chair post myself.

    it. I was also looking and so it is ingrained in my mind (kind of sad to a degree that I remember this, must be) because I was looking at the exact same boom stick. Erick, what is your (or your wife’s) satisfaction with it?

    I am asking not accusing, but, are you calling Erick “Vainglorious”? If so I must take exception to the assertion that he is such. Vainglorious is boastful and vain, two words that would have NEVER entered my mind regarding Erick. It is not boastful to point out ones victories when it applies, but Erick doesn’t even do that, he points out Redstate’s victories, our victories. As for wanting someone sincere I believe Erick well fills that qualification as well as all others to be the National RNC leader. However, I do agree with you that at this time anyway, I think he is best doing what he is doing.

    Like I said I am asking and only if you meant it that way then I would say I think you should re-evaluate your opinion.

    I can see the signs already: “Watch Erick Erickson Gang Up on 20 Opponents at the Same Time.”

    I only see two problems with the scenario:

    1) Even if he were going to do it, he wouldn’t do it BEFORE the election. And I don’t even see him as the sort to float the discussion amongst close confidants because he knows secrets are only secret until two people know about it.

    2) I’m not sure he be willing to take the demotion. He seems to have been far more influential than Steele right where he is now. Why give it up?

    I think Erick made it pretty clear that he will be running against Steele, and I imagine he will beat him pretty easily, if Steele should actually run again (which I imagine he won’t). Steele likely won’t be Erick’s toughest competition, I imagine a fair number of folks will run for this thing, given how wide open its going to be. If I remember correctly, they vote kind’ve like they do in Utah, where they vote and eliminate somebody, vote and eliminate somebody, so the divided opposition won’t help Steele keep his job, eventually it will come down to two, and just like in Utah, that final two probably won’t include the Incumbant. I just hope that once Erick takes over the Party he will still be able to run Redstate!

    Was also that Erick has gotten pretty full of himself as of late. Maybe warranted.

    He couldn’t be any worse than Steele, but I am not sure it is a job suited to him. But if he did it, please keep the costs of fundraising down…way down….if a charity had overhead costs for fundraising above 10%, no way would I ever give money….and then I hear the RNC has costs of 75%….

    Fiscal discipline should start there.
