Democrats Told To Stop Campaigning On Obamacare

The Politico headline is actually New Dem message: ‘Improve’ health care, don’t talk cost , but that is not wholly what is going on. What is going on is a recognition from the Democrats that after a year of trying to sell Obamacare as a panacea of right thinking and improvement, the voters headed to the polls in November disagree and are angry.

Consequently, the Politico notes that Democrats are abandoning all pretenses of selling Obamacare to the public and have cut and run back to “if you don’t replace us with the Republicans, we promise we will improve it.”

The confidential presentation, available in full here and provided to POLITICO by a source on the call, suggests that Democrats are acknowledging the failure of their predictions that the health care legislation would grow more popular after its passage, as its benefits became clear and rhetoric cooled. Instead, the presentation is designed to win over a skeptical public, and to defend the legislation — and in particular the individual mandate — from a push for repeal.

The presentation concedes that groups typically supportive of Democratic causes — people under 40, non-college-educated women and Hispanic voters — have not been won over by the plan. Indeed, it stresses repeatedly that many are unaware that the legislation has passed, an astonishing shortcoming in the White House’s all-out communications effort.

Note just how bad it must be for the Democrats and their messaging if “many are unaware that [Obamacare] has passed.” This is consistent willful naivety by the Democrats. The public that will most likely vote does know Obamacare passed and they are mad as all get out because of it.

And the kicker — the revised talking points counsel that Democrats should avoid making the claim that Obamacare will reduce costs and cut the deficit. In other words, the two main selling points are being tossed out the window.

that everything they said about Obamacare was all lies. Of course, they won’t admit to anyone else that it was all lies. In fact, they will lie about the lies, for that is what they do. The only way they can drum up any kind of support for their programs is to lie about them. And the former mainstream, lapdog, media repeats the lies, and even creates some of their own, to help keep that support going. It is a house of straw built upon the sand, and it will all come crashing down on them in November.

What makes them think they’ll get another chance to ignore the public? We spoke out very loudly against this over-burdening bill. They ignored our pleas. Now they want us to keep them in government so they can make it better?

Fool me once, shame on you-fool me twice, shame on me. No second chances. They are out of control! They will never listen, much less change. It’s power for power’s sake.

Get them out and let’s start new. But the conservatives better understand, it’s one chance elections from here on out. Get the job done, and you get re-elected. Lie to us and it’s out on your ear.

Unbelievable, but then not really so, that many people are unaware Obamacare was signed into law. It’s even worse for the Democrats than I thought, because as more and more people find out Obamacare passed, the more people will be against it.

And if the Democrats want to campaign on stopping Republican attempts at repealing Obamacare, that’s a debate I welcome and encourage.

Democrats as usual promising everything and delivering next to nothing. This kind of reminds me of the PRI in Mexico which does the same thing.

Like with most of what the Democrats crammed through, people hate it, so only the GOP candidates are talking about the Dem “accomplishments” it seems.

I thought the only thing the Dems wanted to talk about less than ObamaCare is how great a job they’ve done creating jobs.

This bill does absolutely nothing to reduce costs, actually less than nothing. Most of it should be sent to the shredder.

One exception is the tax on employer-based health plans. The howls of organized labor notwithstanding, that needs serious expansion.

People are still waiting at their mailboxes for the checks to start arriving.

Not Obamacare, not the stimulus, not financial reform, not climate change (global warming as we call it), not tax cuts being extended, not card check, not amnesty for illegals, not the mosque situation, not enforced border protection, and certainly not how great Obama has been. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Their only theme will be to demagogue the Republicans. That won’t work this time, though.

My sentiments exactly and I believe that this thinking in America is becoming the “yardstick”.

Maybe the 2010 & 2012 mantra should be, “Democtats lied, Americans died”?

    Is that too extreme?

  • ihateliberals

That was in the first post here and I think that sums it up pretty good as to what liberals are about. they lie to themselves so often that they begin to believe it themselves. I just hope and pray that the voting public realizes this is not really about Obamacare per-say but it is about the congress going against the will of the people. this can’t be allowed no matter which party is in power.

  • dambama

The left constantly chanted their mantra “Bush” lied … not “republicans” lied.

So if you are going to chant is is only fair to say ” Obama lied, Americans died?

was how wonderful govt-run healthcare would be when signed into law. Now that they acknowledge that no one wanted it and its a disaster, I shudder to think how they would “improve” it. Too late boys & girls. When you couldn’t get the votes for it honestly, you rammed it down our throats using dubious legislative procedures. Now you own it !

This almost sounds like something from The Onion.

  • WIBadger

…they can only blame Bush and warn that voting for the GOP is a vote to return to the “failed policies” of the Bush admin. Fear-mongering 101 !

  • WIBadger

they think they can talk about “improving” the health care bill without any discussion of its cost ? Even if I were in favor of this monstrosity I’d have to acknowledge that it would be impossible to separate the two !

  • Wine Country Dog

I simply will not ever again refer to it as 0bamacare, because 0bama doesn’t care and it isn’t about healthcare, it’s about government control of 1/6 of our economy.

As for improving the bill, they say you can polish a turd but when you’re done it is still a turd and you have wasted a lot of time and money.

This is where I would like to see a common Republican front, telling Americans what we would do to restore sanity in government. Right now, the Dems like to blast away at going back to Bush economics, which is an epic fail strategy for the Dems because I had a good job back then. It would be good to blunt the Democrat smoke and mirrors machine with a united, positive message of a return to economic stability which would bring jobs back to Main Street, repeal and replace the senseless Democrat health bill with something that works.

In a nod to decorum and good taste I will refrain from adding what should be done with Pelousi’s silly big gavel.
