I’ve documented before how Lisa Murkowski profited in office through a land deal in which she increased the value of property by directing a federal earmark to build a short road to the property for several millions of dollars.
Well, she’s done it again. This time by voting for TARP.
Turns out Lisa had substantial investments in several of the companies that benefited the most from TARP.
At the time, the Senator and her family had upwards of $335,000 invested in Wall Street banks and institutions who, in turn, received billions of dollars in bailout funds. Among them was Morgan Stanley. The information is publicly available on Murkowski’s personal financial disclosures.

fbks (Diary) Thursday, October 7th at 2:16PM EDT (link)up here to destroy Miller. I see every distraction issue focused on to stay away from the issues Murkowski loses on. She seems to be the Dem favorite, but they do have their own real Dem, McAdams.
Hard to get a feel for where this race is at even though I live here. The Native Corporations and unions are all in for Murkowski. I do see a marked increase in yard and truck signs for Miller in Fairbanks.
The Murkowski campaign website quotes a poll showing her ahead (the voter would still have to write her name in and mark the oval to matter) but the poll looks like garbage to me, because there is no supporting data, seems like a pay for the result you want to see deal.
Before the primary I was prepared to vote for Murkowski if she won, but after this, I will never do so again. She could have accepted the primary loss and still run against Begich in 2014 and took him out. Better to replace Begich with a conservative. Our economy is not as bad as the states, but it is coming as the effects of the oil drilling moratorium commence.

fbks (Diary) Friday, October 8th at 2:18AM EDT (link)I am sure that everyone assumed Murkowski would win the Rep. Primary and the Dem would not have a chance. McAdams was a token candidate. Now the Dems think they have a chance but stuck with a weak candidate.
Murkowski is splitting the Liberal support, but how many Republicans will go along? She is not running on her record, rather there is constant drip, drip drip, “revelations” designed to hurt Miller’s character, hypocrisy, debt.
The Anchorage Daily News and the Fairbanks Daily News Miner are all in against Miller, so their coverage is biased and not reliable for facts. Our local elections saw low turnout but of that heavy conservative percentage, all the lib/Dems were booted as well as the union backed City Mayor.
Murkowski is running an ad showing voters humiliating themselves repeating her name for spelling and how to vote. She has support, how much is just what $2 million can buy in media hype? The write in affect, who knows.
If Miller can do 45% of the total vote, he should get it. It also appears that if Miller makes it, the goal is to tarnish and brand him for life, like was done to Palin here.
The closer I watch the political process here, senate, game board appointments, governor, the more obvious just how vicious and filthy the lib/progressive politicos are.

I will never vote for Lisa Murkowski again. She should be ashamed of herself.

I still doubt she will crack double digits when the actual ballots are counted, though.

But, even then, I expect the AK GOP to litigate the issue – I cannot, for the life of me, see how they could accept someone writing “Lisa M.” as a write-in “vote” for Murk. The GOP should litigate this issue to heck, if the election result is even remotely close, to put an end to this kind of silliness…

Which region do you live in? I would like to get a feel for what is going on outside Fairbanks; the news is a waste of time. I see a lot of new yard signs and bumper stickers for Miller around here. The Anchorage Native issues forum in Anchorage thought he did well by the applause. My wife is endorsing him for their Alaska Federation of Natives ad. Nome is very in for Lisa, but that is coming against McAdams, not Miller.
