Read this email from a birther. Then consider changing things like “birth place” dual citizenship” and “natural born status” to “foreign money.

Dear Mr. Erickson,

Why is it that you continue to refuse to look at the VALID questions surrounding Obama’s eligibility? You, like the Fox commentators, tell everyone the birthers are crazy, when it is blatantly obvious that none of you have ever taken the time to truly investigate the entire issue. There are FACTS that can not be disputed, FACTS which raise serious questions as to not only his birthplace, but his dual citizenship. Obama releasing the necessary records to PROVE one way or the other is the ONLY action that can be taken to remove all doubt about his natural born status.

Please answer the following questions and tell all of America in one of your columns…why has he spent upwards of 1.5 million dollars fighting these ineligibility allegations in the courts? How did he travel to Pakistan in 1981 when there was a travel ban for ANY person holding a US passport? Why has he also sealed all of his school and college records…could he possibly have enrolled as a foreign student? And lastly, WHY has Obama been issued several social security numbers? I don’t know about you, but I have only had one SS# in my lifetime. If you want to check into this, contact Susan Daniels, the reputable P.I. who thoroughly investigated this social security issue, and came up with some very troubling factual data! One thing that REALLY steams me is the bogus claim that the birth notices in those two Hawaiian newspapers PROVES Obama was born in Hawaii. Nothing could be further from the truth…that information came from the State Department of Health Birth Registry, and at that time, ANYONE could register a live birth in Hawaii, whether born in Hawaii or elsewhere. So, that claim absolutely does not hold water.

For those of us who follow you regularly, and find you to usually be dead on with your commentaries, you have totally blown it with this issue. WHY?????
I would LOVE a personal response, but addressing all of these questions in one of your columns, after you do your homework, will suit me just fine!

I don’t “know” if the man was born in the states; I don’t “know” if the man was born outside of the states. I don’t “know” either way.

I “believe” he was born in Hawaii, but I have been wrong before.

I wish the man who professes to believe in transparency would practice it, instead of being the consummate politician and treating the citizens like mushrooms.

No, there are NO reasonable conclusions until he is more forthcoming, thereby exposing the birthers as lunatics.

It’s not the expression of views that is bannable. It’s the promotion of the idea that Obama isn’t a US citizen.

It’s also not an absolute blackout, as you will note just from the comments in this thread.

You see, people were overdoing it to the point that our heads were exploding, so the Directors stepped in and said STOP.

Comparing the Birther argument to the CofC foreign money argument isn’t promoting the birther position.

Where you have chosen to attack me by suggesting I share the views of Alex Jones, I trust I may be allowed to express that position.

Simply put, there has been a lot of effort invested in hiding much of obama’s history – and in gilding the ‘official’ version of the remainder. We are not talking about a small town selectman / councilor here, but the occupant of the most important, prestigious, office in the world. The citizens of the Republic are entitled to know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, a candidate for – now occupant of – this office is legally qualified for that position. Yes?

Perhaps the concealment has an innocent basis. Data which does not change the facts of the eligibility, but could well be embarrassing. OK, so hand the documents over to someone of unimpeachable honesty and discretion to review privately and report yay or nay. The Supreme Court comes to mind.

The point is, given the demonstrated spin of the legacy media, the fundamental dishonesty of the Chicago political machine / obama’s associates and the manner in which obama’s historical records have been systematically concealed, almost any allegation might be true – or not.

It should have been addressed long ago, but undoubtedly any such effort by the GOP or opposing candidate would have foundered spectacularly on the third rail of “racism.” While I agree with Eric’s view of this issue as a distraction from the more important task of removing this clueless community organizer & its fellow travelers from power, I do believe it should be resolved. If obama is eligible, the status quo prevails. If not, then it gives the PEOPLE of this nation a magnificent weapon to employ in taking back this nation from the Establishment elitists on both sides of the aisle.

No, I do not buy Alex Jones’ paranoid fantasies, but then it seems you buy Arianna Huffington’s. No? Well, perhaps my last comment belongs in the same location as yours, ‘K? ;-) Reasonable people (i.e., non-lefties) can disagree without casting aspirations in the process, amigo.

it was Philip Berg that is most likely responsible for the Birther movement. He is the one who started suing the Obama campaign to produce a birth certificate and it caught on amongst the Clinton Supporters. Then the nuts on our side picked it up after mainly after Obama won.

Philip Berg made these actions separate from the Clinton Campaign. Now one could say she was complacent by not denouncing it, but she was in it to win.

Now on to your second comment, no they did not have anything, circumstantial or otherwise. It started out as a dumb issue and has done nothing but gotten worse. The whole movement and the people who outright believe it and the ones who do not loudly denounce it and a thorn in our side and an embarrassment to our party and our effort. I hope your post does not reflect your refusal to denounce the movement and the people who support it as it would be a shame to lump you in with the complacent people.

The last part of your post, the facts of his birth have been shown and there are still way too many people too stupid to understand he is a citizen. Setting aside all arguments, the fact is he was born in Hawaii, that is not disputable. Under the 14th Amendment, All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States…., it matters little what citizenship his parents have, once he is born in this country he is a citizen, period. That is not disputable, he is a citizen. All the horse crap people throw up are nothing more than BS arguments and words from tin foil wearers. It does not matter if all their arguments about his mom and dad are correct, the simple fact his body came out of his mother on US soil makes him a citizen.

It is long past time to shun all birthers and keep on with the fight to rid this country of Obama’s administration and him as well through competent ideas. Obama gives us ammunition to fire him every single day. We do not need nor can we afford to allow ourselves to buy into any part of the idiotic birther movement. Once we do, our cause is lost.

Around the water cooler, the general consensus is that he’s probably not US born but there’s a massive government conspiracy to cover it up and anyone who looks too closely will be disgraced, tarred and feathered, or have their head delivered to the office in a suitcase.

Mr. Obama is the President. Period. Via the State of Hawaii he has provided legal proof that he was born there. He is a natural born US citizen. Period.

The people, like the idiot who wrote the email – and several others who have been banned today, are engaged in a deadly game of mental masturbation. We have the opportunity to focus on ISSUES and beat the Left perhaps for a generation. But only if we focus on winning on the ISSUES, and don’t get distracted by crap like BO’s birth certificate or his college grades.

Idiocy like this email will give us the same Pyrrhic “victory” we got when the then-group of like minded idiots decided to impeach Bill Clinton. We had the opportunity to beat the Left on the issues in the 90′s – we had them on the ropes with HillaryCare – and we got distracted with impeachment. Clinton was able to make the case that he was “the victim of the Republicans” and unite the Democrats in Congress behind him. Focus on the issues. The size and scope of government. The structure of the tax system. The absolute necessity of privatizing programs like social security and medicare and getting the federal government out of the retirement and health care business. Etc.

The email writer was correct that Hawaii has not provided a certificate of live birth from the county clerk’s office. What they showed was a document declaring birth. Having worked in the registrars office of a major hospital, one of my duties was to type up birth certificates and send them to the county. The actual certificate is to be signed by the attendant at birth, the mother, and County Registrar, making it an official legal document of record. Those things are not on the document Hawaii has shown – or not on any of the ones I’ve seen.

But that is neither here nor there and does not deter from the issues. You are correct that the birther thing is just a way to identify those who appose him as crazies and create a distraction from the issues. I personally don’t dwell on it because there’s no resolution and you’re right that it does’t do anything about helping the conservative principles we all believe in. But that also doesn’t take away from the fact that anything to absolutely prove otherwise has not been openly declared.

Everybody claims that “birthers” are nuts, off base, etc., then have absolutely NOTHING TO OFFER other than the usual canard about 2 mentions of a birth in a Hawaiin newspaper, and the usual assertations that “of course he’s a United States citizen.” Really? Well, PROVE IT.

Don’t waste your time. This is a great site with good information and quite a few great facts thrown in for good measure. Read the articles or the diaries that interest you, but pass right over the ones that are condescending to individuals that do not share their belief. There are a lot of great legal sites out there to get your information from on the subject if you are so inclined. It is a game they frequently play here, almost as good as the left does. Some writer’s will throw stuff out there for no other reason than to get your goat. Pass right over that article because it is written solely for the purpose of making fun of you. A lot like this administration does when we do not see eye to eye. Chalk it up to immaturity, and ignore it.
