Sharron Angle Scores

Harry Reid did not exactly give a stellar debate performance in Nevada last night. At one point he was muttering about being unable to find his notes.

Along the way, Harry Reid was asked which Supreme Court Justice he admires and he said Antonin Scalia. California Attorney General Jerry Brown was unavailable for comment.

Then Sharron Angle went in for the kill. She asked how it was Harry Reid left Searchlight, NV a poor man and became one of the richest men in the Senate on a public servant’s salary. That’s a question we all want answered.

some of the most creative and resourceful people in the Country have found a myriad of ways to give me money in exchange for my vote”. Would I have not been a fool to go against their judgment on the issues? Senators don’t get paid to think, we get paid to vote.”

  • johnt

I wonder if any of the loons of the left are surprised? But more important, is their doubt, do they wonder? After all, everyone who disagrees with them is branded stupid or crazy or both. But here’s Angle running circles around the Senate Majority leader.
Did Hapless Harry cross his hands across his chest last night, body language for sincerity? A gag he picked up from one Bill Clinton, Mr Sincerity himself.

Reid acted put upon to have to even trouble himself with such lowly inconveniences as to stand on stage with a mere “commoner”.

And how dare she question him on the obvious question of his mysterious wealth attainment. Everyone in Nevada knows the answer to that one: Reid has his hand in more deep pockets than card-carrying members at a pickpocket convention.

And can we *please* help Dick(head) Durbin to be the next Senate leader just so Illinois can finally be rid of him?

You mean you’re not going to tell us about the shady real estate deals? Darn, I wanted to know how I could do it, you crook.

Voting for Democrats is institutionalizing corruption. Are you listening California, Washington, and Illinois? Stop ruining our country by continuing to stick us with these union gangsters.

When they made insider trading illegal to prevent others from getting rich the same way the Kennedys did it, they exempted Congress from those insider trading laws. And why they continue to exempt Congress from insider trading laws.

The standard response by any businessman, corporate “fat cat” or anyone called in front of Congress or excoriated by the president for their gobs and gobs of money and assets should be exactly what Harry Reid said.

“You’re demanding to know how it is that I became so rich? Well, senator/congresscritter, suffice to say that I have made very good investments, and I am quite disappointed that you would bring this up, since it really helps no one suffering in this country to know how it is that I have been more successful at life than you.”

Wouldn’t you love to watch ol’ Bawney Fwank’s head explode in response to an answer like that?

be planning his own political funeral.
I watched portions of the debate last nite, I think Angle may have clinched the election.

They have just surpassed the $200,000 mark and are on pace to have their biggest fundraising day of the campaign!

To hear the lefty’s on this, only reason Sharon did not lose the debate was because Harry was not on ‘point’ and lost his place at times. And, that Sharon ‘kept’ her carzy hidden. That she lies about her policy stands, etc. and wasn’t called out for her lack of credibility. That she was basically, lie, Obamacare, lie..

I kept thinking, wait, and Harry is different? How?

    oooops

on his program today particularly Reid’s claim about being a very successful lawyer and canny investor. Angle did miss on hanging curve though. When asked about creating jobs she had the perfect opportunity to say something along the lines of, “One thing I wouldn’t do is ask people to stay away from Las Vegas as Pres Obama did on two occasions.”

And they paid off dividends. I believe one of those investments was called “voting for the Affordable Care Act”.

Seriously, this woman is the best. The best!

I keep changing my ticket, I know, but this woman could be president. She has a brain! She comes off 1000 times better than the current brainless president.

Angle, Rubio, Palin, Bolton…in whatever order you feel is best.

I’ve checked several bios and none lists any specific job outside of government. His first job out of law school was a city attorney position, and he went from there to the legislature. One of the bios said he was an attorney during the time he was in the legislature, but it didn’t name a firm or say he was in private practice, or say what kind of work he was doing.

…she’s number one in my book. Then again, maybe you didn’t hear her speak to the RedState Gathering.

Take a recording in and play Harry’s words back.

  • yuletide

This probably got her the Senate seat and she made no gaffes.

After the debate, some Reid supporters commented to a Las Vegas Sun reporter that he demonstrated a “fire in the belly” for the first time in this campaign. Now, why doesn’t that mental image work for me? Dingy Harry is more a “fire in the gift shop” kinda guy.

  • indylawyer

Surely that must include someone here. Anyone? Anyone?

Seriously, this sort of thing really sums up what’s wrong with Washington. A huge government that provides lots of opportunities for lobbyists to reward legislative favors with special deals so that lawmakers who stick around long enough can accumulate tremendous wealth while claiming to be “for the little guy.” I’m sure there are many Republican examples as well, but anyone who gets rich from a career in government has little claim to the title of “public servant.”

Here in Indiana many of our elected officials are able to also work in the private sector, and that is very common in our legislature. Don’t know about Nevada. But if he was practicing law I’d expect his bios to say something about it, at least naming the firm. Maybe he was solo, but it would have been pretty unusual to make a fortune as a part-time lawyer in solo practice. Unless, of course, he was able to get some lucrative work from “friends” he made through politics. Surely some investigative reporter or blogger should be able to dig this up.

  • JSobieski

I suspect that any money Reid made in the “private sector” would not have occurred “but for” his “public service.”

Same thing for his “investment expertise”—cattle futures 2.0
