From “All Catholics Are Pedophiles” to “Catholics Hate Poor People”

Is it any wonder polls are showing a huge shift in the Catholic vote from Democrats to Republicans?

Last week in Missouri, Russ Carnahan made his closing pitch against his opponent, Ed Martin. It went something like this — “All Catholics Are Pedophiles, Ed Martin is a Catholic, Therefore Ed Martin is a Pedophile”.

In Minnesota the Democrats are opting for something else. “All Catholics Hate the Poor.”

A mail piece from the Democratic Party in Minnesota shows a Catholic Priest from his Roman collar down with a button on his shirt that reads “Ignore the Poor.”

The National Catholic Register calls it “the most anti-Catholic political ad you’ll ever see.

Never mind that the Catholic Church is one of, if not the most, charitable organizations on the planet.

And what is the attack over? Actually, it is aimed a defeated a non-Catholic preacher running for Congress. Why? Because he, like the Catholic bishops, opposed Obamacare.

And if you are deranged you must be a pedophile. And, if you are a pedophile you must hate poor people too. It is all so logical. Don’t you see?
Anyway, the end justifies the means. So, to the Left. it is okay to exaggerate, even to lie, if it helps your side get votes. It is also okay to cheat at the ballot box, or in the rigged recount, or to bribe members of Congress to vote for a bill they haven’t even read. Who knows what they will think is okay to do next? But, we must be prepared for anything, and we must videotape everything! We also have to become poll watchers, and election judges, etc. in order to minimize how many votes they can actually steal. Believe me, they are going to try to steal many. To them is not morally wrong, because they have no morals. To them losing is the only sin.

..before voters will forget the stench of the cesspool known as the democrat swamp.
2010 will always be remembered as the year they all dropped the mask and gave the country a good look at who they really are.
I cannot remember in my life when I have seen so much lying and cheating, name calling and sleaze. This crop of (D)’s are a nasty bunch who thought they owned Washington. I thought it was bad in 94′ but that was nothing compared to today.
This is a group where a two bit jerk like Alan Grayson was a rising star.
Their own leader the President has resorted to smearing a fine group like the Chamber of Commerce as a threat to democracy because they oppose his agenda and then he tries to race-bait latinos into believing that half the country is their enemy.
Don’t even get me started on the daily cow piles that drop from the backside of MSNBC on a daily basis.
That network is out of control with their paranoid spittle flecked rantings and now they have resorted to begging for people to please please please not vote for those dangerous Republicans.
    It’s disgraceful.

On Nov. 2nd all they are going to hear back from all the people they insulted, smeared and belittled.
On Nov. 2nd we will return the favor.

So after 50 years and a trillion dollars, the Democrats are admitting that every “Anti-Poverty” program they have promoted and supported has failed. And its the Catholics fault. Interesting line of thought…for sociopaths.

The National Catholic Register calls it ?the most anti-Catholic political ad you?ll ever see.”

Well, not exactly. The Puritan/Congregationalist Founding Fathers of the Republic were savagely anti-Catholic in their published rhetoric, labeling the religion “popery” [one of the nicer things they wrote], in contrast to Christianity. But we don’t want too, too much originalism, say what!/?

Which I will humbly append as follows

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, THEN VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE ……

    Emphasis mine of course.

are abandoning Obama and the Dems.
I can only say “welcome back” to my brethen. As a Catholic I believe in Redemption.

    …email this article.

If you ever needed any proof of the (not so latent) hostility of Leftists to religion, this is it.

“They shall be hung by their own guts!” The best way to destroy an opponent is with his own words.

  • streiff

“you’ll ever see” sort of rules out the Puritans and the Know-Nothing movement.

  • streiff

because National Catholic Register is a very liberal paper.

I’m more than a little shocked that the Democrats would say bad things about pedophiles. Heck, Barry’s got one – at least a guy who thinks that NAMBLA is the best thing since sliced bread – making sure your kids are safe at school.

  • stephaniet

I was given a study on logic. And the “all Catholics are pedophiles, therefore this guy is too” mentality mentioned in this post is very fallacious logic indeed. One of the major logic rules that I learned was DON’T USE FALLACIES.

Besides, I would rather trust a Catholic nun with my health care than a Democrat. At least the nun would pray that I get well, right? The Democrat would pray that I die quickly lest I cost the state more money, I imagine.

  • blooch

judging by the comments. It’s funny to watch the trolls come in late to the game with their “It could be lots of different Christians” and “This thread is so dumb” arguments.

Capmotion trolled in pretty early here, but this story is a couple of days old, so I guess they’ve had time to regroup.

Anyone who has spent time working with the poor knows that one of the first sources you appeal to for aid is Catholic Charities.

The rationale behind the add is that since the Catholic Church does not support government serfdom, then it does not support the poor.

  • johnt

The Boy Scouts of America underwent the attacks of the slime machine because they resisted accepting openly gay scoutmasters. The United Way even cut off contributions.
The North American Man-Boy Love Association used to, and may still, march right up Fifth Avenue on gay pride day, fine with that it seems.
Do you really think the Insane of the left have any real problems with the molestation of the young?
One more example of a deeply psychopathic absence of any true principles or beliefs, only the cancer of hate keeps them going.

  • aesthete

Equating the two is as wrong and unfair as, well, equating Catholicism with pedophilia.

  • aesthete

is wont to attract pedophiles. It is immensely unfair to single out the Catholic church or the clergy in general when so many other careers have this problem to a much greater extent (teachers and CPS workers, to name a couple). In both cases, to say that this means that both groups are inherently pedophilic is to make a whole raft of logical fallacies (affirming the consequent and hasty generalization being the big ones).

It was difficult for me to believe that so many of my sister and brother Roman Catholics voted for this BOzo in 2008. Now that they’ve seen the light … welcome home.

  • aesthete

Though I must say, the anti-semitism and anti-evangelicalism of the Bush years was getting stale. Here’s to the Dems, masters of finding new ways and people to hate. /snark

  • Robert Allen Leeper

“=/=” or “” or “~=”. Or there is a struck-through “=” that is not easily typeable. It seems to me that the second above is standard. Why another?

  • OccamsRazor

I could never understand the BO stickers in the parking lot-makes no sense.

In this case, the effect makes sense from the cause.

  • johnt

If so, just where do I compare homosexuality in general to pedophilia ? Obviously in the restricted sense, “Man/Boy” Association and the Boy Scouts thing, there is a connection, but I do not even imply that all or most homosexuals are molesting boys.
Is it possible that you wished to lecture someone today, and jumped at what you thought was an opportunity? There is quite a bit of that on the right, the “we are better than that” crowd. I assume you are not one of them.
    Thanks.

  • MF

In some programming languages, they use (less than / greater than). Others use != (exclamation point / equal).

  • MF

The way I look at it, there are people who are Catholics (or Christians for that matter, not trying to single out one group) but have no relationship with Jesus. Without that relationship, the Holy Spirit cannot work within the person. Without the Holy Spirit, you’re lost – you can be led by anyone or anything.

  • MF

I didn’t mean to imply Catholics are not Christians in the parenthetical remark. I meant Christians who are not Catholics. Sorry about that…

The easiest way to do it is to copy the symbol from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_symbol and paste it in. You can also compose your note in word (or pages on a mac), insert the ? character using a program-specific menu, copy your whole note, and paste it into your browser.

My inequality sign turned into a question mark. Hm. Never mind. There’s probably a way to do it w/ HTML, but I don’t know how.

  • noufa

In other words, Democrats hate all Christians.

I know you didn’t say it. But this is a defense?

  • libertarianphilip

check out my post ‘South Texas Election Shenanigans’ to check out a partial preview of the long road ahead.

  • libertarianphilip

Democrats openly attacking Catholics is something I never thought I’d see. Even though more and more are Republican there are still a good number who vote Democratic. Perhaps the Progressives finally realized how embarrassing the Kennedy family actually is and are a little ticked off at their mistake.

  • aesthete

Looks like I jumped the gun on that one. Thanks for clarifying.
