EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Leftwing Thumbsuckers and the Politics of Outrage Over Andrew Breitbart

The left is perfectly fine with George Stephanopoulos being an “objective” newsman on ABC News.

The Politico, earlier this year, ran two articles about coordination between then White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, James Carville, Paul Begala, and Stephanopoulos. One article noted the four trade regular phone calls. Emanuel told the Politico the calls “are about what’s happening, what the implications are of what’s happening and what’s going on.” Another alluded to Carville, Begala, and Emanuel working to turn Limbaugh into a target. Shortly after Obama picked fights with Limbaugh and Cantor, Stephanopoulos reported Cantor had “repudiated” Limbaugh on This Week. In fact, Stephanopoulos had selectively quoted his interview with Cantor to make the case — leaving out that Cantor had actually reiterated Rush Limbaugh’s key points from Rush’s now famous CPAC speech.

The left is fine with this.

But put Andrew Breitbart on ABC News on Election Night and the left is apoplectic.

The trend started with me when CNN put me on. For weeks the left tried to make life a living hell for anyone from CNN on Twitter. Now they are doing the same to Jake Tapper and others — people not remotely involved in the situation.

Why? Well, the pussycat of anonymous outrage, Shoq, sums it up nicely:

I just think this is a BFD. Way bigger than Erickson. [Erickson] didn’t kill ACORN

That sums it up nicely. The anonymous pussycat can let out his inner-honest assessment on twitter. This is about Andrew Brietbart taking down one of the organizations that has helped steal elections across the country.

They want payback. But it is not just that. It is also because they don’t want conservatives on at all. They want the choice of who gets asked on. The left wants to dictate free speech. The left wants to dictate what is acceptable discourse in this country.

See this:

They wear us down, day by day. This is why Erickson was a milestone. In another yr, the major networks will be wall-to-wall wingnuts.

And this:

Remember when I said Erick Erickson would lead to this? That’s WHY I dogged @CNN for 3 f**king weeks. It was inevitable.

And this:

As Erickson was mainstreamed by CNN, ABC will do same with Breitbart, or someone that works for him. Shift 2 notches to the right.

There you have it. Glad I could play my small part to get Andrew Breitbart on ABC — a spotlight he deserves at minimum.

The sad thing here is that ABC’s Newsroom is upset at this. Why? Because ABC tilts left. At this writing, ABC is peddling in the opposite direction claiming Andrew will only be online.

It is, after all, a “digital townhall.” But you and I know what the left knows — this is getting a foot in the door of ABC News for a conservative and not only do we need to stick up for Andrew, but we also need to push ABC News to grow some fortitude.

    Good.

Let’s stay on offense and keep wearing them down :)

ABC and outlets like them *have* to do this, or they will be consigned to the irrelevant dustbin of history. The lefties hate the interruption of economic reality with their idiotic controlling all statist dream world.

If we can co-opt the old line propagandist media, as they lay weak and dying, it will be like Tea Partying inside the GOP.

Let’s roll. Thank you Erick and Andrew, et al!

  • johnt

and verily, they call themselves “progressives”.

  • tngal

That’s what their ramblings reminded me of. They’re coming together in one giant Khan and they’re taking out everbody from Juan Williams to EE this year. Shields up, Erick

    will do that.

. . . that people are not buying their propaganda, and if they don’t get it together and offer “fair and balanced” coverage of the news, they will become roadkill on the road to a truly free media.

The “journolistas” inside the newsroom, of course, hate it. But they don’t look at the ad revenue numbers. The boys in “corporate” do look at the numbers and they can see very clearly that their days are numbered if something doesn’t change.

The urge toward totalitarianism on the left is really something to behold. They’re not screaming because someone from the left is not allowed on ABC or CNN or NPR. They’re screaming because they’re not the only thing that’s allowed.

to the ends of the earth and ultimately to their own ideological demise.

Point One. They (the progressives/left/whatever) are all ready road kill. They just haven;t realized it yet, but Tuesday may help.
Point Two. Journalists – newsroom = oxymoron
Point Three Screaming. If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? For screaming, someone has to hear whats going on. Who’s listening to the p/l/w? Only the p/l/w. Ergo, is ther really screaming?

in anything but name. Their ideology is identical.

As to their commitment to free speech, they are the ones who shout down opposing points of view and demand they not be allowed to speak. If they had the power, conservative activists would be imprisoned or killed. Thank God for the US Armed Forces, who will be loyal to their oaths to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is only they whose honor and power prevent Obama and Holder and the “progressives” from instituting a police state today.

  • renny

they have to “lean” right in their product.

The NYT had consultants around 2004-5 who told them to increase ad revenue (circulation and subscription), they needed to appeal to a “suburban” clientele, and the Slimes did start the Westchester and other non-Manhattan cuts, but the “improved product” never worked because so-called reportage let alone the ed. page(s) never changed and actually has gotten more berserkers with Frank Raunch and Maureen Doody going completely round the bend.

Couric has lost another 1.5 million viewers for CBS, for which they pay her $14 million–talk about the rich, and she can still report with a straight face that her ilk should have higher taxes and pay more of their “fair share.” I wonder where her loot is stashed. I doubt 50% goes to the feds.

ABC is just the crack in the door. Wait until someone actually starts another “fair and balanced” news org. to compete with FOX. Then the MSM will throw itself off the nearest bridge or start actually trying to lessen its slanted leftwing bias,

And thank you, Erick, for whatever hear burn and gas you have given the sleaze.

The political “left” has brought a few, a very few, good things as when they championed civil rights, and early laws protecting workers and the environment.

However, you have to weigh that against The Reign of Terror, the great wave of anarchist and radical bombings and assassinations, including the one that set off World War One. The rise of labor violence. The radicalization of American politics under Wilson and FDR. The deepening of many recessions and depressions. The great purge, the great famine, the great terror, The great leap forward, the cultural revolution, the killing fields. And the destabilization of south and central American states for an entire century.

Now the Fabian socialists all denounced the use of violence for their aims but did not denounce the use of propaganda, censorship, and bullying. And they created the technique we call political correctness.

Mr. Erickson, I think the outrage of the Left towards Mr. Breitbart more has to do with 2 specific incidents: 1) the ACORN tapes – in which attorney generals from both New York and California found the tapes to have been heavily edited. I am not defending ACORN, but Mr. Breitbart’s credibility is seriously questionable here. Also, as I am sure you’re well aware, Mr. Breitbart smeared Ms. Shirley Sherrod, which we later found out he had edited and clipped video of what she said and the point/context of her story.

  • http://beaglescout.wordpress.com Beaglescout

As far as I know Breitbart did not edit the ACORN tapes. He put them out as is. Editing claims were part of a coverup from ACORN itself. The Sherrod tape was edited before Breitbart got it. He just put out the tape he had, and the more complete tape came out after.

  • rohanpatel

Um, you would be incorrect about Breitbart not editing the ACORN tapes. Both attorney generals (you know, prosecutors that uphold laws, saw the tapes, and saw that they were heavily edited). I apologize for the 2nd – you’re right. He released an edited tape to smear Ms. Sherrod, after which the real tape came out later, to where even Mr. Erickson had to say on CNN that Ms. Sherrod should get her job back. My bad.
