Joe Straus Is Worried. Keep Up the Pressure.

100% NARAL rated Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, the Republican who relied on Democrats to get into his job and then obstructed major conservative reforms in the Texas House of Representatives, is worried he might be voted off the island.

How do I know?

Well, one of his advisors, Vincent Harris, left me a message on my cell phone tonight that Straus would be calling me tomorrow from a San Antonio, TX phone number.

For the Speaker of the Texas House to be calling a blogger from Georgia to, I assume, convince me he is not the 100% NARAL rated and Planned Parenthood praised Democrat in Republican clothing that I know him to be, must mean we are having an impact and he is worried.

That just means we must keep the phone calls going. Below the fold — more phone numbers to call!!!

Oh, and my phone is pre-programmed to transfer all calls from people rated 100% by NARAL to phone hell, which I think is located at this phone pole in India.

I appreciate the sentiment, but save your breath Mr. Speaker.

And party foul on Vincent for giving out my phone number. That’s a big no-no.

Now, with renewed zeal and the knowledge that you are having an impact, you Texans go below the fold and burn up some phone lines. Ask them where they stand and report back. Push them to stand with Ken Paxton.Kenneth Sheets — member elect of Dallas

Frustrates me no end not to be able to call. But I’ll forward this to all my buds in San Antonio, New Braunfels, & Austin.

Can you also provide Vincent Harris’ phone number, please? Or was it blocked?

We elected Larry Gonzales in a rout (58% / 38%) over the Democrat incumbent here in District 52.

I sent an e-mail to State Representative-elect Zedler and ask him to support Ken Paxton. I’m in District 96 which represents 8 counties including part of Fort Worth. Republican Bill Zedler beat out the Democrat incumbent Chris Turner by a 52 to 47 vote. Conservative Republicans are in and RINO’s are out.

I’ll bet readers would be very interested to hear what he has to say. I know I would.

The Internet is a beautiful thing, when someone from Minnesota can be interested in and keep informed on the goings-on in the Texas state legislature.

You’ve brought us this far. Throw us a lil’ red meat, wouldjya please?

The man is a professional politician. Do you think you will hear anything from him but:

    A. What he thinks you want to hear; or,

    B. A redux of the “Dance a Little Sidestep” routine*?

    * Just in case there are some who don’t get the reference, I particularly like the Charles Durning movie version.

And yes, that is our Texas Capital building.

I don’t mean he should “hear what he has to say” as in “entertain what he has to say”. I mean “hear what he has to say”, and then report back here to entertain – and educate – US.

I have had to call repeatedly to Rep. Elect Frullo’s office in Lubbock, only to continually hear “this mailbox is full”. Hope/think that is a good sign and he is getting flooded with pro Paxton calls. Finally got through to his voice mail early this morning, so I know someone is clearing the continually full mailbox.

Fellow Texans, keep up the good work! We will succeed in electing a new Speaker of the House.

My parents are coming today. I’m making an offer on a house. I’m getting a radio studio set up.

    No time for spin.

His phone has not been accepting messages. I sent him a fax :)

even in Texas and just got off of the phone after an hour conversation with my Rep, Lois Kolkhorst. She called me!

She still thinks Straus is the best Speaker especially on fiscal issues. She did, however, agree to a meeting with my Tea Party on Dec 2nd.
    WHOOP! I’ll take it.

I stilll want to know why Erick needs a house with room for a radio studio, WHAT is it I am missing??

Keep up the pressure everyone!! I saw ads on Drudge today for him. “Support Pro-Life, Conservative Joe Strauss”

I still haven’t heard back from my rep!

It’s outstanding that you have been granted a meeting with Rep. Kolkhorst. Now, gather all of the specific information you can with regard to what our Democrat-supported Speaker did to kill our legislation during the 2009 session.

Only 11 Republicans voted to elect Straus as Speaker, so guess where his loyalty and his efforts were directed. The Speaker’s direct actions and Committee appointments/Chairmanships virtually killed the conservative agenda in 2009; and if he is re-elected for the 2011 session, we can expect more of the same…and the voters WILL take it out on those they just elected.

We need a conservative LEADER, like Ken Paxton, who will not “torpedo” the will of the people who produced an almost 2/3 majority in the House.

Although the budget is huge, it is not the only big item (e.g., redistricting and border security, etc.) with which the next Legislature must deal; so, if Rep. Kolkhorst believes that Joe Strauss is “best on fiscal issues,” suggest that the next Speaker appoint him to the major budget-writing Committee where his talents can be most effective for this State. The Speaker’s position is essentially that of a “traffic cop” whose job it is to shepherd his party’s legislation through the process. Irregardless of his pronouncements of conservatism, Joe Straus unquestionably FAILED to carry out his primary mission last session, so it would be very foolish for anyone to expect a different result if he is re-elected.

Best of luck convincing Rep. Kolkhorst to withdraw her support for Straus.

In the race for the Speaker of the House, the Candidate for the Speaker tries to collect pledges of support. Those pledges are documented by a physical card that a Member or Member-Elect signs and gives to the candidate. Joe Straus was so worried about this race that he published the list of pledges that he has very early in the morning on November 3. The list number 120. He didn’t show us the cards though. Some of the names on that list I am very suspect of. I think we need to call for Straus to “Show us the Cards” to prove that he really has the support that he says he does. I don’t believe him.
