Happy Thanksgiving

I’m about to go get the turkey out of the brine. I’m going to cook my first turkey today — say a prayer.

I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.

I am thankful most of all for Christ who died for me and for my wife and children. I am also very thankful for the front page writers of RedState, our community of users, and you the reader.

I hope you have a restful, enjoyable, and delicious Thanksgiving.

God bless,
Erick

Hopefully you’ll be roasting the turkey by the ususal route, in the oven, instead of frying it in oil. Wouldn’t want to interrupt the firefighters Thanksgiving unnecessarily, either.

all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But in the most selfless act in the history of human existance, Christ came and died for our sins giving us the opportunity, through no merit of our own, at eternal salvation.

I’m also thankfull for our early Pilgram settlers. Through their courage, incredible work ethic, and moral compass steeped in their Puritan beliefs were able to frame and navigate this country into what it has become (the beacon of freedom and hope to a dark and enslaved world).

I’m thankfull for those and other things, but I cant really get past the first one.

I didn’t ask for it; I didn’t fill out a for to get it; and Lord knows I have done anything in my life to deserve it. But each day I give thanks for having been born an American now living in the 21st Century. And on this day especially I give thanks to my Pilgrim ancestors for getting on that little wooden ship and to risk everything on the chance of a finding better life in the New World. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

As for the turkey, if things go wrong I always say if it doesn’t kill you and you get a good story out of it, it’s worth it.

I am alive and have plenty of good stories, so you can just imagine.

To one and all here at Red State, to our brave men and women in the military and the American people.

Brined turkey is the best, especially the gravy. Dark rich and flavorful.

And Erick, you’ve cooked (and smoked) a whole bunch of turkeys this last few years – they’ve been bigger, only had feathers inside their skulls and stumbled along with only a left leg & two left wings, but they were & are still naught but turkeys!
