The Ominous Omnibus

The Senate has released an omnibus appropriations bill that blows the lid off spending. They waited until the last possible minute to put it out for review. It is 1,924 pages long, filled with earmarks, and goes so far as to declare Nevada a Pacific Coast state so it can get in on a few million dollars to protect salmon. The Democrats have also put a provision in the legislation to begin funding Obamacare.

It is insane and the GOP claims it will fight. Naturally though, several of the outgoing Republican Senators have decided they can finally flip the middle finger at their constituents. Senator Susan Collins is joining these departing senators — Voinovich, Bennett, Bond.

Please take a few moments to call these 4 Senators and tell them to Vote NO:

Senator Kit Bond: (202) 224-5721

Senator George Voinovich: (202) 224-3353

Senator Bob Bennett: (202) 224-5444

Senator Susan Collins: (202) 224-2523

Then click here to go to the RedState Action Alert Center and call your own Senator. Tell him to vote no.

Furgetabout calling those has beens and Snow (a socialist at heart)…. if the GOP can’t prevent this from passing with other procedural methods, we’ll have to suffer for two more years under the Obama curse and when 2012 comes around the remaining democrat rats will be exterminated!!! No one is going to forget this travesty of justice!!!

the establishment sell-out of Angle, O’Donnell and Buck hurts so much. In particular, it illustrates how we gave up nothing in having Coons rather than Castle in the Senate.

The only good aspect to this is the fact it is the last deadly thrash of the dying monster. After two more years of worsening living conditions, provided our Republic survives them, the “progressives” will be thoroughly discredited while dims & RINOs will be included on the Endangered Species list.

he is voting with the progressives because he is retiring and believes he will get a cushy job if he votes with the progressives – they will take him under their wing. I’ve let him message after message and he could care less what anyone thinks. Look what Ohio did in 2010. I even called and emailed Sherrod Brown – who is up for re-election in ’12 and there will be a battle for him.

america1st is correct; but we’ve got what we’ve got. We now have to deal with it – this one has got to go down some how.

to defund many of the Libs. programs going forward, especially Ocare, they are going another step forward to neuter the incoming House majority. Calling Collins is about as useless as boobs on a bull. If Snowe wasn’t up in 2012 she would be supporting this disaster as well.

As to Ocare, Ken Cuccinelli was on local radio this morning and said that he has been in touch with the DOJ, and requested that they move to take his lawsuit directly to the Supreme Court, and to bypass the 4th Circuit. Of course they have refused. It is my belief that they want to stall any final court decisions as to the constitutionality, or any of the other issues before the various courts, so as to have the plan so far along that it would be difficult to stop it later on. Cuccinelli’s point to speed it up is that it has already required states to begin implementation plans, and it is costing states a ton of money to accomplish that. He guessed that it will take about a year to get the case through the 4th circuit, and then about another year to get it before the Supreme Court. Over the next two years, the states have to follow the implementation timeline set up in Ocare at the cost of tens of millions to the state of Virginia alone. He said that the state costs for the federal mandates for Medicaid and Medicare have already all but busted the budget. He said that he has been working with our Governor, and our state HHS person, and they are in a state of uncertainty not knowing if Ocare, or any part of it will remain, or be struck down. They still have to spend the money though.

Cuccinelli made an interesting point. He asks those that voted for Ocare, or those that have supported it, if the fact that the government can demand that you purchase healthcare, can they also demand that everyone purchase a gun, and ammo. He said that he can make the case for that in that it would help the police, it would give people the ability to protect themselves from terrorists etc. He argues that if purchasing healthcare is for the good of the people, so would it be for the good of the people to be armed. He said that the whole thing is about Liberty and freedoms of the citizens, and against a coersive federal government.

I can think of two possible ones, Nelson (NE) and McCaskill (MO). I would think Nelson is still trying to clean his image after his huge cave on Obamacare last year. McCaskill has been nurturing an anti-earmark image. Of course they are not reliable and it is a long shot, but what other options do we have?

I just wanna know why they’re spending OUR money on mitigating mortgage foreclosures…

Maybe I’ll go buy a house and forget to make payments…

Hey…if the Senators can so easily “forget” about what we said in November…maybe I can “forget” to make a payment on my house…

And…did I actually hear a certain Republican (establishment) Kentucky Senator requested earmarks? Say it isn’t so…

  • bus2dc

Very interesting. It comes to me — on repeatedly hearing the govt argument that one’s “health” affects everyone, and so an individuals’ health is then everyone’s business — that EVERYTHING any individual does has a potentially bad impact on the life of another. Are they going to regulate chaos in the universe now? They couldn’t possibly control every action we take or everything we purchase. BUT THEY COULD TRY. And Obamacare would set the precedent for them to do so if allowed to stand. The Constitution is being twisted and ripped like a Twizzle-stick in angry hands. This administration is completely deranged. I WISH it were just “incompetence”!

The lid on spending has already been blown off by these same lunatics. This bill further burdens a bankrupt US Treasury.

His phone lines are unavailable and he never did much vote changing once he made a stand. I continue to be disappointed and hope McCaskill will exit ASAP, too. I wish Missouri could excise St. Louis and give it to Illinois liberals.

hasn’t even got on board yet. It appears now after the gaft Boehner did with putting the Tax Extension bill together that the Republicans (RINO’s) just didn’t get the message nor the the electorate in those states. We keep stacking the deck against us by continuing to send these Liberal Republicans back. The biggest RINO in the House is Boehner and it is hard to say about the Senate but John McCain has to be among the top of the list. I don’t understand why the Democrats are havng such a problem right ow because not only do they still have the majority but they have the outgoing Republicans and the RINO’s on their side. There is noting they can’t do right now.

I said, “Is Sen. Bond seriously thinking of voting for the omnibus appropriations bill?”

Staffer, “Well, that was said on a radio show, but he’s not made an official statement. What would you like for me to pass on to Sen. Bond?”

Me, “He absolutely should vote no. I can’t believe he’s even thinking about it.”

Staffer, “Thank you, I’ll pass that on.”

Note: I’ve said over and over, Bond has taken off his mask since he announced his retirement. He’s voted with our opponents over and over and over on key legislation. I promise you, he’s one of the back room back-stabbers that kept us from accomplishing anything when we had the Sen and the House.

They gather up in the ol’ cloak room and say, “I’m not going to be able to support that,” and the proposal never comes to a vote. I hate him and all the others just like him.

  • itrytobenice

    She’s a no vote.

Does this have to go through cloture?

  • itrytobenice

They won’t say anything either. And I mean won’t say ANYTHING. It sounded just like Gibbsy: “Sen. Bond hasn’t issued a statement.” “I really can’t say, Sen. Bond hasn’t issued a statement.” “All I can say is, Sen. Bond hasn’t issued a statement.”

I hate liars. He knows how he’s voting. He just doesn’t care how we think. I think it’s time to introduce him to tar and feathers.

  • itrytobenice

She’s a no vote. 2012 looms large and she likes her seat.

  • pa4ed

There is no way that we should “furgetabout” this spending. We have drawn the line in the sand as witness the results of the mid terms and this is where we should make our stand. This should be the fight that we have chosen. This is where we should establish our precedent for the next two years.

  • miroco

My wife is British. For decades I gave her and her family grief because they had so many “cutesy” words for outright criminal activity. Fraud is doing a “fiddle”. Madoff only did a fiddle and Maine’s little Olympia and Susie are Rino’s. “Traitorous scum” says it for me, and I am beginning to apply the same terminology to less obvious candidates like my own Kay Bailey and of course McLoser.

Metaphorically speaking, the omnibus bill makes me think of the shower scene in “Psycho” with the Democrats wielding the dagger against the public.

They are engaged in “revenge spending” to get even with the electorate.

  • jenmar

From Canada:: This is how the socialist Trudeau did it in 1968…. stuck in, snuck in, de-criminalized abortion and sodomy in one fell swoop…. in an OMNIBUS bill…. a travesty for our once great country.

  • leehazel

The purpose of this bill is to get Obamacare funded so that the incoming Congress cannot shut it down by Defunding.
This President could care less about anything else in this bill. We can only hope that the Republican Libtards see this ruse for what it is and vote this bill down by whatever method.
