EDITOR OF REDSTATE

From the Mail Bag

The atheists and twinkie eaters at Media Matters, also known as the Westboro Baptist D.C. Branch, are enraged that I dared mention Jesus and the absence of discussing him in the debate over Arizona.

For a great taste of it, you should check my twitter feed. But having just received this, it gives you a good taste of the Godless:

From: Karl Schneider

and f**k your dead god on a stick.

Painting all atheists with that brush is like saying that all Tea Party members can’t spell. It’s obviously untrue, and more snarky than is required.

  • travelguy

When I see statements like these might be a little unusual, but it always makes me shiver in fear for the person who said it.They clearly have no idea what’s in store for them come judgement day when the statement will get replayed and responded to.

The elegant and intellectual argument put forth in the email you cited will probably spell the end of Christianity. How can an Aquinas, an Augustine, a Pascal, Chesterton, or Spurgeon ever hope to compete with that?

Actually, on second thought, I am not worried at all. : )

Keep speaking truth to the darkness Erick.

  • pamela1631

Somebody is going to have a Come to Jesus moment real soon.

Hey Boss…I think you need to tap Karl there on the shoulder and have a rather interesting discussion.

  • Read Chesterton

He was probably all over the “tone” thing in the media this week.

  • gumbeaux

Why doesn’t he tell us what he really feels? Tis better to be thought an [***] than to open your mouth, keyboard, and remove all doubt.

  • ohiohistorian

It is the job of all groups, atheists included, to police themselves, and Eric’s job is to report. Schneider gave him something to report. You chose to call Eric “snarky” rather than condemn Schneider. You are either part of the problem, or part of the solution. It looks to me like you are being part of the problem.

BTW, this Schneider guy appears to be a great tolerator of others’ opinions, don’t you think?

Uh, you might want to read that line again.

Sounds to me like he’s specifically talking to the atheists at Media Matters, not all atheists.

    Karl

Funny, the guy has such issue believing in a God rather than a ton of accidents creating perfection, yet has no issue buying into flying space bunnies and such.

He posts a lot at this site it seems. You can some of his quotes (among others) here. It’s not often he’s able to complete a sentence without using an F-bomb.

Outside of the relative few who do, of course, and who frankly annoy most of the rest of us. Atheists can no more “police themselves” than could all brown-eyed people “police themselves.”

That said, the God on a Stick line is more indicative of a classless, obnoxious individual, than anything else.

  • AceInTX

and you’ll get to bow the knee to him some day..and confess his name with youir tongue…what happens after that is up to you….either way it will be judgment…you’ll either be judged worthy to wear a crown…or you’ll be judged to be worthy of hell’s fire and damnation

and your stick won’t help you

You’ll be in my prayers tonight

    is this America?

“Jesus” provoked this poor man. The image of the Cross is, after all, similar to that of a target. His outburst is not his fault, it is you and all right-wingers who set him off.
It is up to us to change the political climate and tone down the rhetoric before we cause more outbursts like Karls’.
-Before I get banned I was being facetious, of course.

And may the love of His son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ embrace you and protect you from harm.

May the Blessed Mother in her mercy hear and answer your petitions.

is how conservatives, Christians and conservative Christians here on RedState are more gracious to a guy who went out of his way to insult our faith than many atheists, liberals and atheist liberals are to people who go to them and merely try to bring them the Gospel.

Of course, it jives perfectly with that whole right wing hate in the face of left wing tolerance narrative the media is trying to promulgate. /sarc

Hats off to you fellow RedStaters.

  • Darin_H

I now believe in vampires, because otherwise why would Karl so recoil at the mention of the cross :)

Dear Karl, those who are secure in their faith (your faith in atheism for example) wouldn’t be bothered by the mere mention of the name Jesus. It should be like water off a duck’s back. Think about it for a minute.

  • chbroussard

I have a couple of acquaintances who profess being atheists. However, I have never been on the receiving end of such vile language against me just because I happen to believe in God and his Son.

I will give special thanks tonight that I have been blessed with a happy life where such abrasive speech would give me no pleasure. I’ll put in a good word for you Karl, but the rest is up to you.

    sarcasm font, don’t we?

  • Bill S

My initial response to the email was anger. Then it was sadness, that a person can harbor such anger and rage at other people over their faith in God. But anyone is redeemable, so perhaps even Karl will someday come to his senses and discover the truth, which will set him free from his hate.

  • gekster

They say there is no God,
then why the fear of something they say isn’t there.
Isn’t that akin to being afraid of the dark.

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

I police the jerky atheists all the time.

  • AceInTX

sometimes you will see someone put up the following to show sarcasm

    /Sarc

variations of this you will also se is

    end sarc

    {/sarc}

    /sarcasm

    etc

  • AceInTX

if he’s nothing…why are you afraid?

he he doesn’t exist…who or what are you angry at?

what’s in a name so to speak

    heh

  • AceInTX
  • rickbull

But I mean a REAL sarcasm font–something akin to the title letters from Vincent Price’s “Theatre of Blood.” Dripping with oozy snark rather than the crimson stuff. Something with sharp edges at the tops of the letters and gooey sleaze flowing at the bottom.

I’ll get to work on it right away–I think I’ve had an epiphany.

This person seeks to ridicule the God who created him and loves him. It is further proof that so many on the Left are hurting, angry, and bitter souls.

  • tomswifty

It is more correctly am HTML tag, and end tag to be precise, and should have an open tag so people know where the sarcasm starts!

Well, that email certainly was an enlightened response

  • tomswifty

I see; the last line of my previous post was an example, and the editor *ate* the tags! *RedFace*

  • wannabeanncoulter

I never understand why non-Christians and atheists are so sensitive about Christians bringing up Jesus in such a context. They always go nuts about this. And I don’t want to hear anything about Giffords’ being Jewish, either. Reasonable people know exactly what you were getting at.
