1. Might Someone Please Educate Fox News and the Rest of the Media?

Fox News has an article on its website about John Boehner’s remarks on raising the debt ceiling. But in this objective report there is a great and dangerous falsehood. The article, which has no author attached to it, reports

“In order for the debt ceiling to rise, Congress must approve taking on more debt, which currently is growing by more than $4 billion per day. If it doesn’t approve raising the ceiling, then the U.S. will default on its loans and lose its standing as the globe’s most reliable bet.”

There is no other way to put this than it is an out and out lie.

2. The “President to doom gun control”

President Obama’s going to be starting a push for “gun control” next month, sayeth insiders – which is a statement that would worry me more if the President hasn’t been a bit of a jinx at using the bully pulpit up to this point. I’m trying – and failing – to come up with something where his “assistance” has been a net positive: all of the Democrats’ dubious legislative successes have been on the Congressional level thus far, and when it comes to skill at advocacy Obama, well… is awful. One wonders what the man hopes to accomplish.

And no, I don’t know what the heck “gun control” has to do with the economy, either.

3. The American Left’s Role in Leading Mid-East Regime Change

As the world watches Egypt crumble into chaos, with over 100 dead and 2000 injured, the Obama administration continues to be somewhat and rather curiously ambivalent. On the one hand, on Friday, Vice President Biden came to the defense of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, saying that he shouldn’t step aside. Yet, on the same day, the Telegraph (ala Wikileaks) reported that the U.S. had planned “regime change” for the “past three years” while both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton demand that internet be restored to the Egyptian protesters. This morning, Secretary of State Clinton again clarified the United States’ official position, ”We do not want to send any message about backing forward or backing back.”

For all the lack of clarity on where the Obama administration stands, one thing is becoming more and more clear: Signs are beginning to point more toward the likelihood that President Obama’s State Department, unions, as well as Left-leaning media corporations are more directly involved in helping to ignite the Mid-East turmoil than they are publicly admitting.

4. President Obama’s Big Diplomatic Test – Egypt

It is clear that the Obama Administration is facing a big diplomatic test in dealing with the fast developing situation in Egypt. On one side is the Obama Administration’s interest of promoting freedom and democracy for the people of Egypt. On the other side is the national security interest of maintaining a strong pro-Western U.S. ally in the Global War on Terror in Egypt. These are very difficult interests to balance.

The big fear in the West is that if this revolution is a success, and the Muslim Brotherhood or another extremist group seizes power in Egypt, the Egyptian people will not secure liberty and freedom. Two co-workers of mine at The Heritage Foundation, James Phillips and James Carafano, have produced excellent analysis that may help conservatives to navigate and understand this difficult issue.

He turned down their invitation to speak. I expect the next round of Rubio attacks to start shortly from the Libertarian Tea Parties. They already said he needed to be watched closely, and someone here already called for him to be primaried when he is up for re-election, even before he has made his first vote on any major legislation.

I respect Rubio for not allowing himself to be bullied and browbeaten from some who now think they are the king and queen makers in Washington, and be darned with anyone who doesn’t follow their agenda. Rubio warned about this very thing. Dick Armey, the libertarian leader of FreedomWorks, and co-founder of the libertarian Tea Party Patriots, called for all Republicans to get on board with Ryan’s Roadmap, or face being primaried. Do we really support being threatened by the loud mouth libertarians, who are nothing more than one plank conservatives?

When people talk about the Tea Parties or Tea Partiers, it is as though they all have the same goals and agenda, that they are all of one brand. I think that the Civil War, and it really is, with the 2011 CPAC convention is opening some eyes to the fact that the Tea Parties have in fact been co-opted by the libertarians, especially at the national level. No one wanted anyone to claim any leadership position within the movement, however the libertarians, especially of Ron Paul fame, saw the opening, and jumped to fill the vacuum. Now they have become emboldened enough to threaten even conservative elected candidates with being replaced, before any votes have taken place. I was thrilled by the poster that posted the mission statement of the Chatennouga (sp) Tea Party. It included traditional values and a strong national security. We need more of those types of Tea Parties. Heck, the Tea Party Patriots claim to be non-partisan. I thought our goal was to vote out anyone with a D after their name. There are no good Democrats, or they wouldn’t be Democrats.

Obama is obsessed with this. It will be interesting to see him keep fighting against the will of the America people. Obama is all for the “rights of the people” in Egypt and the Middle East – in America – Err – not so much.

OK GOP…..you don’t get it any more sugar coated than this!!!.

Time to stand up and finally start on OFFENSIVE….and create your OWN actions and media Narratives (effectively).

Or are you going to let the left stream media, David Frum, NYT, or other No principles media tell you what you are allowed instead of the people who put you in office.

    1. Complete Repeal of Job Killing Obamacare. Period
    2. NO debt ceiling increase. Spending cuts across board. Period.
    3. Obama either reverses his EO’s and Czar initiatives…or 100% defunding of NEA, EPA, FCC, NLRB, and DOT….for starters. Period.
    4. 100% Defunding of EPA no matter what anyway. Period

that the federal government is expected to file an appeal. Eric H is probably on his way to Florida as we speak.

that federal judges have ruled in favor of. VA tried to get this fast tracked to the SC. The feds said no. I believe the appellate court here will have something to say in May. The longer the feds can keep it in the court system, the more and more targets have to be met by the states for Ocare implementation. It’s too bad the VA Judge didn’t issue a stay.

  • penguin2

Agree, the longer they can drag this out, the harder it is to undo the whole bill.

  • Scope

yes the entire law is struck down. The judge said that the Individual Mandate cannot be severed from the rest of the law. It appears by this case, no stay is needed because the entire law has been struck down.

  • redneck_hippie

I get it on a replay at 9 pm. Worth staying up for, I’ll wager…

  • Scope

that the Individual Mandate is not severable. According to Fox analysis, no stay is necessary as the entire law is now deemed unconstitutional. I am wondering what the individual states will do as to further implementation, as the cost of very big dollars.
