In 2010, total compensation and benefits at publicly traded Wall Street banks and securities firms hit a record of $135 billion, according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal. The total is up 5.7% from $128 billion in combined compensation and benefits by the same companies in 2009.
For a minute I had to jump over to the White House website to see if George Bush was back in charge. The Democrats told us that Wall Street got rich because of George Chimpy McBushHitler Halliburton. And yet . . .
The dirty little secret is that many of those people on Wall Street who are getting ridiculously rich are Obama supporters. But then the Democrats are so loudly demagoguing Republicans as tools of Wall Street that they hope you don’t notice that fact.

edwyrd (Diary) Wednesday, February 2nd at 5:45AM EDT (link)the liberal modus operandi is to; 1) cause a crisis, 2) blame and vilify someone or group of someones for the crisis THEY created, 3) play savior by offering solutions that in someway, usually misleadingly titled inititives, pretend to address the manufactured crisis, but in reality promote a ruthless liberal agenda.

Each increased the size the annual federal deficit far beyond any president before them.
Each showed no regard whatsoever for the constitutionality of anything they did.
Each supported and got national healthcare entitlements that rival any other previously existing entitlements in their cost.
Each followed Wilsonian progressive foreign policies.
Each advocated having their regimes be granted unlimited powers to use against citizens and noncitizens in the so-called war on terror.
Obama has admittedly surpassed Bush on all of these things (including the last one). But that’s a matter of the speed at which he takes us down the same path, not the trajectory he’s following.
I'll pick just two things,

Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, and TARP, to name a few.
Every argument against the constitutionality of Obama’s policies applies to Bush’s as well. Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government delegated the authority to involve itself in those things.
“Each advocated having their regimes be granted unlimited powers to use against citizens and noncitizens in the so-called war on terror.”
I didn’t say he used those powers. I said he advocated doing so (although, surely we could come up with a few ways that he and Obama actually used them, such as in the searches we’re all subjected to in the airports by the TSA). I was referring to arguments his administration made in legal briefs defending certain practices and in laws they tried to get through Congress (but which were fortunately blocked by staunch conservative constitutionalists, like Congressman Hostettler), such as warrantless wiretaps.
Ummm, no.
mbecker908 (Diary) Wednesday, February 2nd at 9:15AM EDT (link)While he may be following a whole bunch of Bush policies that he’s previously denounced in strident terms, he’s no Bush.
GWB is a man who truly loves his country and respects the men and women who wear the uniform. He launched a courageous foreign policy (that he backed away from, but that’s another story). On the domestic front, he launched a number of ill conceived programs but at least he did it from a heartfelt desire to help improve people’s lives.
Obama, and his wife, hate this country and what it’s stood for for 200+ years. They hate the very concepts of freedom and liberty. He is totally feckless on foreign policy (think European) and his domestic policies are about only one thing: consolidating power in the federal government. He makes FDR look like a pathetic piker. He’d be Joe Stalin if the had the opportunity.
could be
e_rowe (Diary) Wednesday, February 2nd at 9:20AM EDT (link)You may be right that Bush’s love for his country is true, and his desire to improve others’ lives is heartfelt. But I don’t claim to know what’s in his heart. Nor does it matter. What matters for the president are policies. And for Bush and Obama, those policies always equate to bigger, more expensive government across the board. Both of them inherited a federal government that was already in every single respect far too large. Neither of them lifted a finger to roll back any of the misguided policies of the past century that created that leviathan. And both actively worked to expand it.
Indeed
aesthete (Diary) Wednesday, February 2nd at 2:29PM EDT (link)While I can’t claim objectivity, there’s no doubt in my mind that Pres Bush was one of the most personally decent men occupying the WH. He was also one of the worst Presidents of the modern era, and there is a good deal more continuity in Obama’s policies than directional “change”.

Revocation of Posse Comitatus Act
georgeflorida Thursday, February 3rd at 12:06AM EDT (link)Let me just state that I am actually a fan of GWB, so as not to anger any moderaters, lol. I actually had the pleasure of hearing him speak at the NAA in New Orleans last summer. I also served in the USMC from 1986 to 1992, so I would like to think that my opinion is formed as a citizen and former member of the military.
The Revocation of The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 by way of The John Warner National Defense Authorization Act For Fiscal Year 2007 is one passage of Law pushed through by the Bush Administration that I could have done without.
The language is very, very broad as to by what means/reason or authority the US Military can act upon the citizens of the United States of America. It basically lists almost any and every reason under the sun that the US Military can engage US Citizens, up to and including Deadly Force. It is so broadly written as to be easily misread/misused by any current or future administration wishing to do so.
It has already led to US Troops being used with “boots on the ground” in Alabama just recently. These troops were neither requested by the Governor of the Alabama nor authorized by President Obama, yet they engaged in an act that clearly violated the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act as well as the remaining parts of The Posse Comitatus Act.
I find it odd that with all of our rights being drawn into question under the current Obama Administration, hardly a peep was made when this Act was passed. When read, it is clearly the largest single act of legislation passed in recent history as to effect the rights of citizens or states by the Federal Government, and everyone just went along with it???
Sorry I hit reply before I was finished...
georgeflorida Thursday, February 3rd at 12:16AM EDT (link)I am aware that the John Warner Act was repealed by HR4986 or the National Defense Authorization Act For Fiscal Year 2008. I mistakenly erased my last paragragh when editing through my text. I also did not include Obamacare as the largest single act to effect the rights of citizens or states since I really have to remain confident that it too will be repealed in part, or in whole.
